I have the hardest time finding KNC jeans pattern here.
I shop for dresses and supplies all over online and in stores the hardest thint to fine is vintage prints.
Had the most trouble finding an ironing ham small enough for doll clothes. Was going to have to make one but I don’t have time. I want to sew doll clothes!! Finally got one at nancysnotions.com. They have many items I couldn’t find anywhere else – silk buttonhole thread and small embroidery stencils. Other great online sources are zipperthatdoll, homesew and my new favorite is crscraft. They have everything in miniature for dolls and I mean everything. I get that shipping costs a lot and being in Canada we also have to pay more because of the exchange rate. I can order online, pay freight and exchange and still pay less than at the fabric store. Just as an example, crscraft has packages of 30 – 1/4" doll buttons at $2.20 each. In Canada at my local fabric store and Michaels craft store a similar product is $8.98 unless you can get them on sale. That said, I have found some wonderful things in the remnant bin and the bargain section at the fabric store. The local dollar store is a great source for trim and shoe soles. They have cording, string, ribbon, cork board and lots of junk you can re-purpose for dolls. I’ll have to get to the thrift stores though. I have just about used up all my husband’s old clothes. LOL
I have the hardest time finding anything on doll scale in my area
I find doll supplies at Walmart, Hobby Lobby GoodwillAmazon and Etsy.
I have the hardest time finding buttons that are small enough and yet go well with and accent the outfit I am making.
I have the hardest time finding small scale prints and trims. Sometimes I can find good small scale knits in baby clothes at Goodwill, but lace is another story.
I have the hardest time finding doll sized belt buckles, overall hardware, and clasp closures.
I shop for tiny zippers suitable for doll clothes at zipperthatdoll dot com.
I shop for my supplies in my massive stash or my mother’s stash. If I need something specific I would shop here.
Because I use almost all recycled material for my doll clothes, I have been having the hardest time finding doll-sized notions. I found some plain black and white tiny buttons at Wal-Mart, and I’ve made my own applique by cutting out a useable image from an unusable piece of fabric. However, I would love to find more places to find cute doll-sized notions. I’ve been sticking to Velcro, so I don’t have to search out tiny zippers and such. On the other hand, I’ve been crocheting Barbie clothing for a long time, and I found snaps at Wal-Mart that are the right size, unfortunately, they come on a larger sheet of snaps in all sizes, so I have a wide variety.
I have the hardest time finding small buttons I like..
I have the hardest time finding small buttons. I shop at Hobby Lobby for trims and my local Salvation Army store for clothes to upcycle and fabric.
“I have the hardest time finding [Printed historical fabric that is accurate to the different periods in history ]”
I have the hardest time finding small scale prints. I repurpose infant and toddler clothing from Goodwill.
I have the hardest time finding tiny zippers. I shop thrift stores for tiny buttons and hooks.
I shop for thin Velcro at Tiny Zippers. Perfect for doll clothing!
I have the hardest time finding small different buttons and interesting zipper. I like to shop for interesting furniture and fabric at vintage second hand store.
I have the hardest time finding doll-size overall hardware.
I buy my doll supplies mostly at Joann’s. But, I love to recycle items that are just laying around with no longer any purpose. Thank you for the contest!
I have the hardest time finding narrow, but also soft hook and loop tape.
Thanks again for your giveaways!
I shop for cloth, ribbons and other small sewing artifacts at a shop called Mondial tissus. I live in France.
I have the hardest time finding small buttons for the doll clothes.
I shop for zippers and embellishments at Homered. I also keep an eye out for notions and patterns at yard sales and thrift stores.
I shop for fabrics in small print at my local fabric quilt store and for notions at Joanns. But it so hard if not impossible to find small Velcro closure. I love to sew the little clothing for great nieces as my grand daughter is now fifteen and not so much in to the dolls.
I usually get my doll sewing supplies from Walmart or Joann’s.
The winner of this contest will be blessed- what a wonderful array of difficult items for dolls to be found- your kindness never ceases to amaze- Thank you so much Pixie Faire may 2018 exceed your expectations and dreams!
I have a hard time finding tiny buttons,
I find the items I need at Joann ‘s, Michaels, etsy, and Homesew.com. I also go to Goodwill, St Vinney’s, and Savers. It’s akways fun when you find something you need st these resale stores .
And thank you Dottie Buhler for the IT information. I have 4 granddaughters who I will share your information with.
I usually shop my stash or recycle used garments. If I cannot find a notion, I may make it myself (like piping) or modify the pattern to use a fastener I do have.
I usually go to a family owned store in town that does upholstery, they have an assortment of zippers and trims. They are called FK Textiles. Lovely people, lovely store.
I shop for embellishment at thrift stores, dollar stores etc. I usually embroider a lot on the clothing that way I can just search my embroidery files. Fabricland is a good source also.
I shop doll supplies at a few different places. Fabricland, Designer Fabric and HomeSew. I also picked up Pixie Packs and Pixie Pack velcro.
I had the hardest time finding zippers for dolls but since I have been with the sewing club things have been so much easier, thanks to Cinnamon and everyone on the sewing team for their support.
I shop for doll patterns and notions on ebay.
I have the hardest time finding zippers. Just when I think I found a supplier, bang, there goes the color choices or lengths… I also have a hard time findind/making time some weeks to sit and sew. Too many distractions….
I have the hardest time finding Tiny zippers for doll clothes anywhere!
I love going to our local Mennonite quilt sale every spring. They always have lots and lots of fabric scraps, you can fill a bag for little money. I always let my granddaughter fill a bag for herself too. During the year, I shop for other material items at JoAnn’s.
I have the hardest time finding tiny buttons. I do shop for many doll items online even though I prefer seeing things in person first.
I normally get my doll supplies at Joanns, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, even 99 cent store, etc that I’ve collected over time when on sale/clearance/coupons, etc. I just use what I’ve acquired over time and repurpose whenever possible. Part of the challenge (and in teaching my granddaughters) is making something amazing from what I’ve already got. My granddaughters (6 & 10) LOVE going into Gramma’s treasure stash of organized sewing cupboards and clear containers. I take a picture of each new completed outfit and put it into a notebook for them for later ideas and new mix/match ideas. They get excited and inspired and 1st learn to easily make their own doll clothes from felt, etc. I’ve acquired a library of patterns from Pixie Faire, Pinterest, Joanns (when on sale for $1) and vars www sites from other sewers. My fav ‘pattern’ source is the challenge of making doll clothes from my granddaughters own ‘designer’ drawings. The hardest thing to find is nothing, I use what I have, make do, improvise and it comes out great. Each year I also get a few extra beautiful 18” dolls when discounted and make a variety of clothes/accessories for each one to donate at Christmas time. p.s. If my granddaughters saw today’s prize, they would faint!
I buy most of my stuff at Fabricville. I also live in Canada where shipping cost are very high. I also but from Aliexpress , shipping takes a long time but the cost is great and so is the variety of sizes and options especially in things like buttons. Being a shut-in , buying online is my only option and shipping costs from shops in other countries, especially do not make shopping from them a viable option for me.
I shop for materials etc. at Goods store, garage sales and other local family owned stores in the area. Also like to use clothes no longer being used and making something new out of it!
I shop for up-cycle fabric at Goodwill on their 99 cent clothing sales!
I shop for most of my trims, buttons, foamie, & other sewing supplies at Hobby Lobby using their weekly adds for savings. I shop at JoAnn’s for sewing supplies. I use Quilt shops .com search engine for most of my fabric purchases. I prefer Over the Rainbow in Washington for fabric. And I have found that Pixie Faire IS the best place for doll size patterns.
I have the hardest time finding thin Velcro.
I have the hardest time finding zippers.
I buy the doll patterns and Hobby Lobby when they have them on sale for $1. I’ve even had friends going to Hawaii search for small hawaiian prints. Thanks for this post, lots of inspiration.
I shop for fabric at JoAnn’s
I find it hardest to find thin Velcro.
I have the hardest time finding tiny zippers and frog closures.
I have the hardest time finding small size zippers especially. When I travel I shop at JoAnnes if I find one of her stores. If not I buy the smallest ones at the Dollar Store and cut them to fit. Online shopping is the only other option I have,
I shop for notions mostly online. Biggest problem is that shipping costs makes them even more expensive
I have the hardest time finding just the right pattern for my vision. I might have to start making my own.
I shop garage sales, antique shops, and thrift shops. I also shop Hobby Lobby and Joanns.
I shop for doll notions at secondhand shops, JoAnne fabrics, Hobby Lobby and always checking in other stores.
I have the hardest time finding small rings for the sarong I made, Small embellishments and buckles for both shoes and waists. Buttons I have found at both Walmart and JoAnn;s. Another thing I have trouble finding is just 1 zipper. I don’t want 6 or 12 necessarily. Thanks for those websites. I will check them out.
“I shop for buckles at local goodwill" OR
“I have the hardest time finding specialty fabric like taffeta or brocades in small scale " Joann’s is the only fabric store in town and the craft shops just don’t carry unique fabrics. Half the fun is shopping and touching the fabric before you start sewing the dress.
I have never shopped for doll scale notions. I tweak the patterns that need zippers and use Velcro or buttons.
I shop for all of my notions at JoAnn fabrics and I got a lot of notions from family members who no longer sew.
“I shop for lace and trims at Hobby Lobby" If you go to the scrap booking/stamps area they have a medium size display of miniature rolls doll size trim, ribbons and lace. Perfect for my doll clothes.
I have the hardest time finding zippers and scale fabric. Years ago Daisy Kingdom sold doll dress panels that matched the girls dresses. I loved these but they don’t make them any more.
I shop for doll zippers at Home Sew and for thin Velcro in colors from Etsy.
I shop for buckles at Goodwill……..lots of doll sized buckles can be found on shoes…..you score big when you have multiples on a pair of shoes or sandals!
I shop for doll shoes at Home Sew. They also have lots of other good stuff for 18" dolls.

I shop for fabric at the thrift stores, goodwill and Salvation Army in the infant and linens areas"
I shop for doll supplies/patterns at Joann’s, thrift stores, Pixie Faire, individual designers, and multiple places online. I look for high quality items even if they may be a little higher than some place else. BUT… I always love a bargain. :-)
I find most of my items at Fabricville and Michael’s. I live in Canada. Ordering online is usually not an option as the shipping costs more than the product. The right buttons or closures often make the outfit! I wish there were more local choices. Thanks for the giveaway! The 12 days of Christmas had amazing prizes every day!
I shop for doll zippers at Home Sew. They have a good selection.
I have the hardest time finding doll sized buckles and zippers. Hobby Lobby and Joanne’s remnant bin has been a wonderful source for flannels and faux leather. I love making the shoes and Hobby Lobby carries the 5mm foam for the soles. The internet has been a true find if the shipping costs are not too high for the items.
I shop for soft Velcro on Ebay. It is hard to find. Other Velcro is sometimes too bulky/big to use for doll clothing
“I have the hardest time finding Assorted belt buckles for dolls
I have the hardest time finding various colored vinyl for making doll shoes. The last time I found some was at Jay’s Fabrics in Pasadena Fl. I got 1/8th yd cuts of 54" marine-grade vinyl. Only a few colors.
“I have (had) the hardest time finding zippers and trim. thru the classes, I have found many great online resources.
I find small buckles on used shoes in thrift stores. I re-purpose wool purchased at thrift stores also.
I have a hard time finding buckles for belts and small buckles and laces for shoes.
I have the hardest time finding small scale prints the right size for doll clothes. I live in a good sized city, but the only store left is JoAnn, and they obviously cater to the mass market. I have gotten to the point of buying more kid’s ready made clothing on clearance and thrift store finds than actual fabric! Those items always sell better at craft shows, too!
aye, its the small zippers and buckles that I have the hardest time finding correct to scale for the dolls.
I have the hardest time finding doll size zippers and other such notions. When I have found a source online, they are always “out of stock”!
I shop for fabric and notions at a variety of online and brick-and-mortar shops. I visit the scrapbooking section a lot. For example, I use tiny brads – perfectly-to-scale “rivets” on jeans.
I “shop” for doll clothes supplies in my current stash and find buttons in my grandma’s button jar.
I have the hardest time finding notions since I live in a pretty remote area but thanks to others’ comments I may be able to find something on line.
I can find pretty much anything such as small zippers on Amazon. Also haunt thrift store for fabrics and other notions.
I shop for small things at Joann’s (but not so much) and www.homesew.com.
Here is a comment from 2 days ago about the STEM jobs and knowledge.
About Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math enthusiast. When I started in IT (Information Technology) about 53 years ago (but whose counting!) It was an exciting and brand new area. There were just about as many men as women. The proportions of men to women has changed from nearly 50/50 to about 6/94, in favor of men. This is a crying shame. Now most of the IT women are project managers and scrum masters, etc. Very, very few are ‘workers’ — most being ‘watchers’. Almost all women left in hard-core IT are over 50 (Personal observation , completely unsupported by real facts) — so, now, Mothers! tell your daughters that Math is not difficult and only for boys. Indeed, many times, when I was teaching night classes, I found that girls caught on more quickly and understood what was going on. STEM is fun and easy, logical and clean. Don’t let them ‘opt out’ on Math and Science classes! It is a real opportunity (STEM jobs) to earn equal pay and prestige with men.
(end of sermon!)
“I shop for buckles on the internet but have trouble finding the correct sizes.
I shop for fabric online on facebook groupe

I have the hardest time finding thin Velcro, buckles, decorative buttons, and belt webbing.
I have the hardest time finding zippers that have the “zip” findings appropriate for the doll size not large scale coat zippers cut down to 4-6 inches. I purchase my craft items from Hobby Lobby they seem to have everything I need including leather. Silly Monkey has nice shoes for boys it you are not up to making your own, but if you do want to I purchase my patterns here for the best selection. Thank you!
I have a hard time finding small zippers of any kind. Otherwise I check out 2nd hand stores. You can always find something good there. LOL
When making Jeans for all size dolls I repurpose old Jeans from my Husband who puts holes in the Knees all the time from work. The used Jeans is so much easier to use.
I shop for many materials at Fire Mountain Gems. Jewelry findings can easily be used for doll creations. Watch bands have great buckles. Also Joann’s has a number of tiny buttons.

I have the hardest time finding zippers that are appropriate scale.
I find many doll sized notions at zipperthatdoll.com, Homesew.com,, Farmcookies.com, and through other internet searches. How on earth did we live without the internet in the old days!!!!! Locally, I keep an eye out at Hobby Lobby for buttons and remnants.
I find doll supplies at Joanns, Michaels, and on Amazon.
I have the hardest time finding small scale piping, braid trim for shoes, basically any small scale decorative trims. Joanne’s usually has medium to large size. I look at Senior Citizens gifts shops and second-hand stores for older stuff. Thanks to all who donated supplies!
I have the hardest time finding doll appropriate patterns. I try to look for them st my local fabric by the pound place.

I find fabric at places like Joanne ‘s sometimes but I also look around the house for leggings or t-shirts that don’t fit anybody anymore and I can find some good, scaled patterns there.
