More Styles From Dan-El Designs!

Get To Know Wendy (In Her Own Words)

My sister got me started knitting at the age of 7 and I have not stopped since then.

My passion for 18” dolls however, started in December of 2013 when I visited my eldest daughter and son-in-law in Oxford, UK. I was scrolling through Pinterest and came across a photo of an American Girl Doll.

Upon returning to South Africa, I did some research which led me to Liese and her SA Girl dolls. I received the Zoey from my children for Mother’s Day of 2014.

I began making clothes for her and shortly after that my hubby bought me Julie. My dolly family has grown since then. My collection includes 6 AG’s, 1 SA Girl, 1 London Girl, 1 Australian Girl, 2 Kidz n Cats, 1 WW, 1 H4H, and a Laurens.

Around 2015 I started testing for Liese from Doll Tag Clothing as well as Margie from Little Miss Muffet. In 2018 I tried my hand at designing knitwear for the dolls. Since then, I have been an exclusive designer at Pixie Faire and enjoying every minute of journey.

Inquiring Minds Want To Know:

Q: What inspired your brand name?
My brand name was inspired by grand children’s name. Daniel and Elizabeth.

Q: Coffee or tea?
I have been a tea person since the age of 6.

Q: What's your favorite tv show, movie, or book?
Going way back when, I absolutely loved The Sound of Music, must have seen it at least 10 times.

Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
My favorite is definitely a yarn store.

Q: Do you collect anything special (other than dolls)?
I do not really collect anything special but my other passions are sewing, embroidery and anything interesting craft wise.

I love the Tatum dress! I made one just like it 50 years ago for my daughter when she was being baptized. I made it way too big and she wore it for a couple of years, but it too, was beautiful.

Hi, I love the Dan-El Designs because I am not a great knitter and there are a variety of levels of styles for beginner to expert knitters. My favorite style is the Tiffany Sweater and Headband, it is a pretty and cute set, I hope to get better enough to create this set for my dolls. Thank you!

I like the looks of the Max sweater. I knit left handed which makes the cabling patterns and raglan decreases a challenge to figure out what substitutions I need to make for the pattern to work into something that looks correct. Your Freebie Friday pattern doesn’t seem to have any of those extra challenges for my knitting ability, thanks.

These are so much fun to knit, especially when I want a quick knitting fix.I have to agree with Kat about getting the bolero and tutu. Gotta have it. I really wish more of these had the 14.5" versions because my least favorite knitting task is adjusting patterns for size. Once it comes to changing designs, for whatever reason, all my forward progress comes to a dead stop. Thanks for sharing. Happy stitching!

I looked through all the patterns and I just donèt know which one I will start out with for sure but I think I will do the freebie first and then order one of the paid for ones. They all look so cute and the patterns look so fun. Can’t wait till Friday to download the freebie and start knitting now.

I’m first a seamstress, then a crocheter, and on occasion a knitter. When I enter a doll outfit in the Knit or Crochet class at the county fair, it’s more often going to be crocheted because it goes so much faster for me. I do love Dan-El Designs patterns – they’re so cute. My favorite is Minette, and I’m likely to do it a few times in different colors!

I must confess that I crochet and would love to learn the art of knitting with small fingerling yarn. The pattern I found so beautiful and feminine was Christine. I would actually love a sweater like this for myself as well as my dolls. So many lovely patterns to choose from.

I don’t knit. At all’ Learned how 3 times and forgot 4 times. That said, I reeeeely like the cardigan bundles 1 and 2 for making 2 sizes of the same sweater. Many doll families could benefit from the togetherness. Also the turtleneck called George. My Kidz n Kats boy David would look way cute in that. I think he would like green .Maybe it would even fit the Sasha kids

Nice designs! I have a 14" doll that I’d like to crochet for but I can’t find crochet patterns for that size of doll—only knitted ones. I learned how to knit but just like crocheting much better. Maybe I should revisit knitting….
