Hi everyone,
The question is simple, which look is best?
This week's contest is featuring a darling set of patchwork dresses made by Karen Lorraine as the prototype pieces featured on the cover of the Les Souvenirs 18" doll clothes pattern. Which style do you like best? Be sure to vote to help us decide which look is best and be entered into the giveaway to win both of these dresses! (Note - dolls and props are not included in the giveaway)
More About the Outfits: This giveaway includes one dress with two "Mix & Match" accessory sets, one pink and one blue! The base layer is a gentle unlined underdress made in a lightweight white cotton fabric. A ruffle at the dress base complements the look, while a clean neckline and back closure finish off the dress nicely. The darling finishing pieces feature elastic-waisted pantaloons, followed by a gorgeous bonnet with a lined brim, and a classic patchwork pieced pinafore style apron. Pair each set with the underdress to create either a pretty pink ensemble or sweet blue look!

Get to know Karen Lorraine Watts (in her own words): "Hi, I’m Lorraine from “Karen Lorraine Design.” I design for various doll sizes from American Girl to the little dolls. I’ve always loved dolls and never really had any as a little girl. My sister and I had soft toys instead, as dolls were too expensive back then. I still remember getting my first Daisy doll and what a massive moment that was J. (She was an ice-skating doll whose feet I nibbled despite me being 8 years old at the time!) When I started sewing about eight years ago, it was great to discover the current world of dolls and Pixie Faire. I loved taking Pixie Faire’s Design and Pattern Academy classes, and it is an honour to finally be a designer for a company I had admired for many years. Creating patterns is a long process with a lot of different stages. It is so rewarding to see an idea come to life and to see what customers do with my patterns. My favourite dolls are American Girl, Pullip, and Blythe. Away from designing, I am busy with family matters (including my 9-year old niece, and my parents in separate Rest Homes), and in my spare time I enjoy photography, art, road trips, and walking."

Inquiring Minds Want To Know...
Q: What's your favorite food?
Lorraine: I tend to go in “phases”. Then I have too much of my “current phase” and never have it again for months! I also really enjoy garlic. (No vampires here.)
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Lorraine: I loved the early seasons of “Once Upon A Time”. The costumes were great and the storylines were uplifting (and made you believe in miracles). I also thought Robert Carlyle (who played Rumple) was outstanding. “When Calls The Heart” is a programme I really like currently. I also like “The Amazing Race”.
Q: Coffee or Tea??
Lorraine: Coffee, especially first thing in the morning.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Lorraine: Online
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Lorraine: “Karen Lorraine” are my first two names. I am named “Lorraine” after my Dad’s sister (who died when she was 3). My parents liked the name “Karen” too and felt that Karen Lorraine flowed better than Lorraine Karen. Being called by my middle name has caused some difficulties over the years, for example with medical and school records, but now I like how it sounds.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Lorraine: I would love to go on a cruise near Antarctica (and to Elephant Island and other Shackleton areas). I would love to see the Polar Regions from afar, as I love reading about ice and it fascinates me. I’d love to see the penguins too. I would also like to go to China and Russia, and…. I’d really like to go to an American Girl shop (with lots of money to spend there). Happy dreams :)
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Lorraine for giving away such a cute outfit!
Thanks everyone,
The Pixie Faire Team
Love the blue!
Thank you, Lorraine! Both outfits are beautiful but I voted for blue because of the brighter colors. Great pattern!
This outfit by Karen is so nice. I like both the colors but voted for the pink.
I love the blue!!!!
I love the pink outfit.
Thanks Lorraine,
I love the blue bonnet!
I’ve always been partial to blue.
Absolutely adorable! They remind me of Sunbonnet Sue.
Again – tough decision. I’ll choose pink because growing up, I was the one put in blue & my sister was in pink.
I love the pink outfit! Color is soft and feminine.
I like the blue. It looks like Holly Hobby.
I picked the blue one, looks more historically accurate.
Holly Hobby is an old favorite of mine. I did cross stitch Holly’s, decorated cakes with Holly and they were always in the blue, so that’s my favorite still. Thanks for the lovely pattern.
I voted for the pink but I think the blue is more for that time period.
for me, the bleu
❤️ the Holly Hobby blue!
I have loved that style in bonnets forever. I made them for both of my girls to wear (they are now in there 40’s!) And I am passing one on to a great niece, just this week. The doll size is adorable. I like the vibrant colors of the blue set. So much easier to see all the hard work you put into them. Thank you.
I like the pink. It looks better with the doll’s hair,
I like the pink set
Pink is my favorite, now and always. Thank you for the give away.
I voted for the pink outfit because I love the color.
Love the blue reminds me of Holly Hobbie when my daughter loved it.
Blue!
Both are adorable! I would pick the pink.
I voted for the blue because the blue has more vivid colors than the pink.
Love them both, but chose the pink because it looks much more softer and girlie.
Although I love pink, I chose the blue bonnet. I chose it because the pink was sooo monochromatic and the blue had a bit more punch. Remember the old margarine commercial “Everything’s better with Blue Bonnet on it.”
I really like the blue set, it has such a variety of colors in the patchwork. Plus I tend to be drawn to blue, I’m really not much of a pink fan. Great job with the design, the outfits are absolutely adorable in both colors.
I have to vote for blue. Has been my favorite color my whole life.
The blue bonnet, colors just seem to pop!!!
I voted for the blue because it reminds me so much of the Holly Hobby I had as a child. It was a great idea to create this pattern!
I definitely vote blue. I know people tell me I am wrong, but I think pink is a mistake. Not a fan of it at all. LOL
I think the pink looks the best! Of course I am drawn to pink more.
The blue reminds me of a Holly Hobby doll my sister had as a child. It just pops!
I love this blue bonnet! both are amazing, but blue is my favorite!!
Lovelly and Dreammy
Love the patchwork in pink!
Thank you Lorraine! I love both of them, but especially the pink with the cute border along the ruffle and on the bonnet ties!
Love them both but pink gets my vote.
Looks like a fun outfit to make, I love mixing fabric
I really like the pink ensemble. It looks so dainty.
I love the color combination in the blue bonnet design, therefore it gets my vote.
Thangs so much, Lorraine!
They’re both darling, but I LOVE the blue! The mix of colors and patterns is perfect.
The pink is cute, but I like the blue better. I think it’s more authentic looking. The apron would be made from leftover fabric, and those would be the darker variety. I a solutely love it!
The pink outfit is really darling!!!!
Thank you Karen and Cinnamon. Blue Bonnet reminds me of the original Holly Hobbie,so that’s my favorite.
Hello I like the pink bonnet best. Thank you Lorraine and PIxie Faire for such a generous give away.
I like the pink.
Pink is my favorite color however, the blue one really rocks this design.
Both of these bonnets and accompanying outfits are adorable. I am partial to the blue one. It appears to highlight the design better.
As much as I love pink, the blue really speaks to me. Thank you Lorraine, your talent really shines.
I love them both but blue is my favorite color so I have to go with Blue Bonnet. Amazing.
I love pink but the blue really pops! Nice design
Thank you, Lorraine! I like the blue bonnet outfit best. Looks very pioneer!
I like them both, but my vote goes to the pink!
I love the pink the most – it’s very feminine.
I love the blue as like so many others, it reminds me of my Holly Hobbie Days! Congratulations on your designing career! What fun!
I love, love, love the blue. It just reminds me of the Holly Hobby doll my grandmother gave me as a little girl. Plus blue has been my favorite color since I was 7.
Love them both, but voted for the soft pink. It is so sweet.
Wow. Just last week I wished for a bonnet and dress pattern for the AGD ! And here it is being offered. Thank you.
I love the blue bonnet. It is more colorful and bright. Looks more realistic.
I’m with Ruth…I don’t like all the colors in the blue patchwork, therefore I vote pink.
I vote for Blue Bonnet. Not only does it look more authentic, but most everyone loves blue, more than pink. Pink says “modern”, but blue is timeless. Definately two hands up for Blue.
I like the pink one—it’s so soft looking.
Pink is my favorite color!
Lorraine I love them both but the blue one really pops more than the pink……………….and to me the blues would be more consistent with the era these awesome items were from.
I voted for the Pink Bonnet. It looks sophisticated and charming on Blaire.
I picked the pink. Thank you!
I am in love with the blue. Love the vivid colors and it just screams “fun” to me.
I prefer the blue bonnet because along with the blue dress they pop and the color is amazing.
The blue stands out and grabs your attention. It is so cute. Thank you for offering it.
I vote for the pink. I like the pink as it’s very sweet!
Lorraine. . . .thank you so much! That patchwork pinafore is adorable! I love the gentle blending of pinks. (The blue set is cute too, but is more “stand out”). I can also see it done in shades of pale yellows or greens. The mark of a truly versitile and useful pattern!
I voted blue, it seems more authentic somehow. Thanks for the giveaway!
I voted for the blue one because we could not vote for both….they are both lovely…and my twin granddaughters would love to have them….thanks for the opportunity to win them…they are lovely..
I like the blue outfit best. The pink outfit is kinda washed out, while the blue on stand out & is fun. I love the Holly Hobbie outfit.
Adorable blue dress. Thanks
I voted for the blue one! It reminds me of Holly Hobby dolls.
I voted for the pink one, my grandfather’s favorite color!
I don’t like all the colors in the blue patchwork, therefore I vote pink.
I truly love the blue color. I am drawn to blue it looks cool and lovely on the doll.
Love the pink!
Love this! I picked blue.
I voted for Blue Bonnet one, as the bright colours are so smart looking! Thanks for the giveaway.
blue for sure. So Holly Hobby
I chose the pink because the little girls I sew for prefer pink.
I think the blue one is best. I don’t think the pink is true to the time period.
Thank you so much for the chance. I love the blue bonnet.
I voted for the blue outfit!
They are both adorable Karen thank you. My vote is for the Blue just because it reminds me of a holly hobby doll my grandmother had.
I love how the Blue Bonnet look like Holly Hobby from when I was a girl – it was popular then. I have love of the doll as well – I love her ringlets and how the brown patches in the blue outfit reflect her skin tone. I like the contrast of the blue and brown together.
Ooohhhh… I love bonnets and pinafores! I love them both, but I’d have to vote for the blue. Thanks so much for the contest
Love the pink. Although the blue reminds of the Holly Hobby doll my daughter had as a little girl. Both are so sweet. Thank you.
i voted blue – but now that I study them more the pink sure is cute……..I like them both!
I haven’t bought this pattern yet…but I might…..it sure is tempting after looking so close!!
Both are darling outfits. I voted for the pink outfit. Thank you!
Both are very cute! But I really like the blue best! Looks more old fashioned where the pink is more modern.
Love them both! They are the same while being different. Awesome!
