Hi everyone,
The question is simple, which look is best?
This week's contest is featuring a darling set of patchwork dresses made by Karen Lorraine as the prototype pieces featured on the cover of the Les Souvenirs 18" doll clothes pattern. Which style do you like best? Be sure to vote to help us decide which look is best and be entered into the giveaway to win both of these dresses! (Note - dolls and props are not included in the giveaway)
More About the Outfits: This giveaway includes one dress with two "Mix & Match" accessory sets, one pink and one blue! The base layer is a gentle unlined underdress made in a lightweight white cotton fabric. A ruffle at the dress base complements the look, while a clean neckline and back closure finish off the dress nicely. The darling finishing pieces feature elastic-waisted pantaloons, followed by a gorgeous bonnet with a lined brim, and a classic patchwork pieced pinafore style apron. Pair each set with the underdress to create either a pretty pink ensemble or sweet blue look!

Get to know Karen Lorraine Watts (in her own words): "Hi, I’m Lorraine from “Karen Lorraine Design.” I design for various doll sizes from American Girl to the little dolls. I’ve always loved dolls and never really had any as a little girl. My sister and I had soft toys instead, as dolls were too expensive back then. I still remember getting my first Daisy doll and what a massive moment that was J. (She was an ice-skating doll whose feet I nibbled despite me being 8 years old at the time!) When I started sewing about eight years ago, it was great to discover the current world of dolls and Pixie Faire. I loved taking Pixie Faire’s Design and Pattern Academy classes, and it is an honour to finally be a designer for a company I had admired for many years. Creating patterns is a long process with a lot of different stages. It is so rewarding to see an idea come to life and to see what customers do with my patterns. My favourite dolls are American Girl, Pullip, and Blythe. Away from designing, I am busy with family matters (including my 9-year old niece, and my parents in separate Rest Homes), and in my spare time I enjoy photography, art, road trips, and walking."

Inquiring Minds Want To Know...
Q: What's your favorite food?
Lorraine: I tend to go in “phases”. Then I have too much of my “current phase” and never have it again for months! I also really enjoy garlic. (No vampires here.)
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Lorraine: I loved the early seasons of “Once Upon A Time”. The costumes were great and the storylines were uplifting (and made you believe in miracles). I also thought Robert Carlyle (who played Rumple) was outstanding. “When Calls The Heart” is a programme I really like currently. I also like “The Amazing Race”.
Q: Coffee or Tea??
Lorraine: Coffee, especially first thing in the morning.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Lorraine: Online
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Lorraine: “Karen Lorraine” are my first two names. I am named “Lorraine” after my Dad’s sister (who died when she was 3). My parents liked the name “Karen” too and felt that Karen Lorraine flowed better than Lorraine Karen. Being called by my middle name has caused some difficulties over the years, for example with medical and school records, but now I like how it sounds.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Lorraine: I would love to go on a cruise near Antarctica (and to Elephant Island and other Shackleton areas). I would love to see the Polar Regions from afar, as I love reading about ice and it fascinates me. I’d love to see the penguins too. I would also like to go to China and Russia, and…. I’d really like to go to an American Girl shop (with lots of money to spend there). Happy dreams :)
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Lorraine for giving away such a cute outfit!
Thanks everyone,
The Pixie Faire Team
The Blue is gorgeous and more of what is expected as a typical color for this outfit. The PINK is a wonderful change and like someone else said… a perfect color for Valentine’s Day. Love them BOTH.
Oh, how adorable! i love them both, but with Valentine’s Day coming up, the pink bonnet outfit got my vote!
Thank you!
I love the blue outfit.
I chose the pink. The blue is great too but the pink is quite unusual. Don’t think pink was first choice yet for early Americans
I voted blue! Thanks Lorraine!
Both of these dresses and bonnets are absolutely beautiful!!!
I love, love, love the blue one
I love the blue outfit and the colorful dress that is with it.
Since blue is my favorite color – I’m sticking with the blue!
I’m for blue-bright and cheery
Both so cute I just had to pick one. Love both hats ut the blue one stood out. Love all the patterns Thank you
I love the pattern overall. But the blue really pops! I really like the look of the patchwork on the apron, too.
I prefer the blue one because it shows off the patchwork clearly and adds authenticity to this prairie dress. Cool pattern!
The blue shows the design of the outfit better than the pink.
I love the Pink.
Blue being a favorite color & seems to “POP” more, my vote is blue. Thank you for a sweet design pattern.
It was a tough decision but I chose pink because it’s my favorite color! Thanks for the giveaway!
What makes this difficult is that I like certain things about each. For example: I like the patchwork on the “blue” dress because it is so distinct but then I like the flowers around the legs of the “pink” pantaloons. Finally, I voted for the pink because overall it worked together really well. I really liked the interview with Karen Lorraine and appreciate the diversity illustrated by the choices shown with the use of this pattern. Thanks! ;-)
Thank you Lorianne, The pink bonnet wears it best.
The blue one is my favorite because it reminds me of Holly Hobbie and would look great on Kirsten!
Love the pink but blue fits the time period better I’m not sure they even had pink back in them days lol
love the pink. so soft!
Thanks Karen, or should I say Lorraine? Both outfits are adorable, but like more the blue one that feels more country
Just really like the blue bonnet outfit!
Both are beautiful! I think the pink looks best though.
I like the blue bonnet outfit more because the random patchwork looks more authentic than the well planned monochrome. Both are darling. Thanks so much!
Thank you, Lorraine!
Thank you Karen! Love both of the outfits and very hard to decide. What a great job designing them. I will choose the blue one though.
I love pink-it is my color. I vote for the pink outfit-so pretty and feminine.
I love the softness of the pink with the red hair but both outfits are fabulous! Thank you Lorraine!!
Love the Blue bonnett dress style.T hank you for this Design..
I love the pink. The outfit is adorable in pink. Thanks so much.
I like the blue bonnet best!!
like the blue outfit. thanks Lorraine.
Thank you Lorraine. Both are so wonderful but I vote for the pink I like the flower accents in the bloomers.
I adore them both but I think I love the pink best.
Thank you Lorraine! I like both of them but I love the pink! I totally love the blue dress but not a fan of the blue use for the hat and pants.
I love these cute patterns! I shall be very sad when my granddaughter outgrows dolls. I chose the blue outfit, because 1) It is my granddaughter’s favorite color and 2) The doll is blond like her and would look best in blue.
I love the blue outfit. It gets my vote!
I was immediately drawn to the blue outfit. It brought back memories of watching Little House on the Prairie when I was a young girl. It would be a shared outfit for my dolls so they, too, could relive the days of westward expansion. Thanks, Lorraine, these outfits are wonderful.
I vote pink reminds me of me that spring is coming. Makes me feel happy.
I love the Pink, but the Blue is probably more of an outfit for that period of time. Thank you Karen for such a great offer.
Even though I love pink, the Blue Bonnet set reminds me of Holly Hobby.
I love the pink set although both are adorable. Thank you Karen for offering the outfits in this weeks contest.
I’m sitting with seven 5th grader girls who are helping me decide what they should sew for the after school sewing class. It was their idea to find patterns for American Girl clothes. When we found the Pixie Faire site, we were excited to see the patterns and clothes. I let the girls vote on the two dress choices and it was unanimous for the blue dress. They loved the colors and the tie dye blue.
I chose the Pink one. Those tiny embellishments on the bloomers and bonnet are adorable!
Thank you Karen Lorraine for the beautiful choices – pink is my fave.
I love the pink one.
sI llike the Blue outfit. I have the pattern and have cut the pieces but not had time to put together. One comment after looking at the pattern is that for my finished product I will add a lining so the patch seams are covered. Look forward to sewing the pattern.
So hard to pick as they are perfectly matched for the coloring of each doll. I would have to pick Blue Bonnet personally as it ‘pops’
Love the pink one
Thank you Karen Lorraine and I like the pink better even though I usually like blue.
Love the blue, very cute
Even though blue is usually my favorite color, in this case, I prefer the pink.
Both dolls look beautiful, but blue is my favorite! Keep having fun :-)
The pink was super cute, but I vote for the blue with all it’s vibrant colors. It makes me smile.
I Love the Pink
I voted for the blue although I really like them both equally. The patchwork look showed up so nicely in the blue so it finally got my vote. I love the Holly Hobby look.
I absolutely love the pink.
I love the sweet pink bonnet outfit. Thank you, Lorraine.
How lovely. The blue dress has more contrast between the values and so the patchwork really shows. The pink is a softer look and both are very sweet. Thanks for the wonderful give-a-way!
I love the pink one, It’s so cute!
I vote Pink, the patterns and colors on blue are kinda garish.
Hi Lorraine! These outfits are such a precious gift to a lucky winner. The outfit is beautiful in both color ways; but I voted Pink because most little girls love pink the best. (The blue is my personal favorite though because it reminds me of the iconic Holly Hobby Dolls from decades past. Great pattern and great ensembles. :)
wow! Thanks very much for this. I sure love them both, but the blue… wow
The Blue Bonnet is SO Holly Hobbie.
Since the outfits are rather old fashioned, I believe the pink outfit evokes the era best…so sweet!
Thank you, Lorraine.
Blue!
(Reminds me of Sleeping Beauty: “Pink!” “Blue!”)
While the pink is very sweet, the blue pops out! Such a cute outfit. Thank you
Bothoutfits are darling, however the blue reminds me of a doll dress I had as a child, so I chose blue.
Holly Hobbie lives! Both of these are too cute! I love traditional BUT I love PINK more so I vote for PINK :)
Thank you, Lorraine and Cinnamon, for this giveaway! I vote for the pretty tones of pink! Love the cute historic outfit.
Thank you, although they are both beautiful, I think I like the pink one best. I just have this idea that may be incorrect, that prairie girls wore pale colors.
Thank you, Karen Lorraine, for this adorable outfit. Both are super sweet but I will give blue my vote.
They both look great but I chose the blue outfit.
Such pretty colors! My favorite is pink.
As cute as the pink is, I think the blue pops with color.
sorry, but my favorite color has always been blue (nothing against Pink, pink is sweet)
Both outfits are cute. But I love that vibrant blue! Thanks for the contest.
I love the sweet pink bonnet outfit.
I like the pink one best, it’s my youngest granddaughter’s favourite colour.
Both are beautiful, but I really love the blue….would be beautiful on my daughters blonde haired, blue eyed doll!
While both versions of the dress are beautiful, I’m partial to the blue one. I think it would look great on Kirsten because it would bring out her eyes!
Love the piink one
I vote for the blue bonnet….brings out the doll face features.
I vote for the blue outfit – I love the contrast in the blocks. Thanks Karen!
My daughters are split on which one is better, so I get to break the tie. We’re going with blue this time. What an adorable pattern!
The blue outfit is more eye catching because of the pops of color, but the pink outfit is sweeter. I love them both!
Both outfits are adorable – really like the pink one! Thank you for your generosity!
The blue…looks exactly like the old Holly Hobby dolls I made & loved.
I love the blue one because of the wonderful color contrast.
I had a Holly Hobby doll as a child, so I have to go with Blue Bonnet. I’ve been looking for that same doll/outfit for a while so I’m thrilled to see it here!! Thank you so much for the giveaways!
Pink definitly
Absolutely love the blue version! It reminds me of Holly Hobby! (The pink is pretty cute too!)
The blue outfit is adorable so I vote blue
Both are very pretty, but blue is my favorite. Thank you, Karen and Cinnamon, for this giveaway contest.
thanks Lorraine for the giveaway. I like both but the blue one slightly more.
Thank you for the chance to participate in the giveaway. I voted for the pink.
Blue is my favorite

No question with my granddaughter … pink. They are both winners!
