My favorite sewing tip or trick is using fishing line to gather. Cheap, fast, and always gives perfect gathers, without breaking.
My favorite sewing tip is to sew in a chain manner, not having to pull out and cut tails of thread each time I see a seam.
Read the directions first and go slowly.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is pinning as much as possible before sewing each step, so it takes less time in the middle of the sewing.
My favorite sewing tip/trick is to ALWAYS trim the strings. Keeping it neat as you go saves so much time when your project is finished.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to finish the seams for a more professional look.
My favorite tip it to always iron each peice/seam as you go and to carefully clip your seams so they lay properly.
My favorite sewing tip is using Steam A Seam on hems and pocket edges.
My favorite tip is to hand baste set in sleeves or ruffled skirts or any other part of assembly that you want to be perfect once you machine stitch it.
My favorite sewing tip is to be very diligent in ironing all seams.
Always read direction and enjoy making the item.
My favorite sewing tip/trick is to use a large zig zag stitch over a long lead thread for gathers. If banishes broken gathering threads!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to have my iron set up right next to the sewing machine so I can easily press while I sew.
My favorite sewing tip is have all supplies before starting.
Love your site. Have ordered a few patterns and have not been disappointed.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to clean my machine after a day of sewing. Clean the bobbin area, change my needle and wipe off the exterior of the machine.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to have my iron set up right next to the sewing machine so I can easily press all my seams while I sew.
My favorite sewing tip is to press down the seam before sewing. Makes for a cleaner, neater seam.
My favorite seeing tipmorvtricknis to not skip the pressing step. Pressing makes the fabric lievsmooth and makes the finished product look do much better!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is pin things where the pattern says to pin.
When frustrated, walk away! Nothing makes things worse then trying to continue when you’re not happy with how it’s going!!
My favorite sewing tip/trick is to watch as many videos as possible I’m self taught and videos have come in very handy.
My favorite sewing tip is relax and have fun :-)
My favourite sewing tip is I continuously sew seams then cut to separate, saves time having to trim threads.
Always pre wash your fabric and findings when making doll clothes otherwise the dye can permanently stain a dolls vinyl and/or cloth body. Some dolls are very expensive and can be ruined because dye from fabric or bias tape, etc. transferred to the doll. Pre wash …it only takes a few minutes.
My favorite tip is iron the seams as you go.
My favorite tip is to take your time. It makes all the difference.
My favorite sewing tip is to slow down. And AS SOON as you realize you’re making a mistake, STOP. There will be less to fix.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use a coffee filter to begin seams.
My favorite sewing trick is to cut and sew shirts and bodices in double layers (and sleeves when there is not a lot of gathering). It gives me nice smooth necklines and openings without fussing with facings. It works great for sleeveless tops as well. Doubling the sleeve with the bottom on a fold gives a quick, smooth hem with just a quick topstitch. I also sometimes cut the bodice of shirts with the bottom on the fold which saves lots of hemming time.
My favorite sewing tip is a common one: Measure twice, cut once!!!!
My favorite sewing tip is to always have your seam ripper within reach. LOL
If a process isn’t working out, search the internet (especially Google and YouTube) for assistance.
I use a chop stick to help me turn narrow pattern pieces that are seamed to right side out. Also using the point of my small scissors to turn out tiny corners. Thanks for all the great sewing tips. All are very helpful to incorporate into my repertoire.
My favorite sewing tip is to use only snag free velcro on my doll clothes.
One of my favorite sewing tips: before turning a collar, belt, or tab, I like to fold the seam allowance inward on the stitching line across the end and down the sides and press in place. This really helps to get a sharp corner after turning.
My favorite sewing tip is to iron as you go.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is take your time. I find sewing relaxing and you don’t make mistakes when you don’t have to rush.
What a lovely set of dress’s! Thanks for the opportunity to win these colorful, lovely dress’s
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to always follow the directions.
My favorite sewing tip is to use a mini iron when making doll clothes and press, press, press! Also, use a 1/4" foot on your machine to get the seams the perfect width.
My favorite sewing tip is take your time. Iron and clip as you go. Relax and feel the creativity of your project.
My favorite tip is to hand baste and then hand sew – especially zippers and tiny small gathers on delicate fabric. By the time I do these on the machine, there is nothing left of the fabric! Practice some hand sewing stitiches – there is a couture tutorial on Pixie Faire or just google it. You will be glad you did. Long hems and lots of ruffles are great on the machine but a lot of the bodice work can be hand sewn then top stitched on the machine. I find the items fit the doll better as I try on as I go for a more tailored effect.
My favorite sewing tip is, if I’m repurposing old clothing for doll clothes is, if at all possible, use a slim hem on the repurposed item for the hem on the clothing. It saves hemming such a slim hem and I can get the doll clothing done faster.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to iron as you go, it does make it look more professional..
I copy my doll clothes patterns onto freezer paper, then iron that onto my fabric. It stabilizes slippery or loosely woven and knit fabrics very well while cutting. And the same freezer paper pattern can e used many times.
My favorite tip is having tools that make sewing on a small scale easier. I love ‘That Purple Thang’ I bought from Amazon.
My favorite sewing tip is to fully read the pattern, check to make sure I have everything needed before starting, then relax and enjoy making the project.
My favorite tip is press as you go. It seems like such a simple step to skip but makes a world of difference in the end result. I purchased a mini Clover iron for doll clothing or small seamed projects.
My favorite tip or trick is pinning the pieces well. It takes a bit more time but I like the results better then when I get in a hurry and don’t pin.
My favorite sewing trick is to press as you go. Everything looks so professional when you do that. The other important part of sewing for me is to sit comfortably. I find myself perching on the edge of my chair sometimes and I can hear my mom’s sweet voice telling me…Sherry you are perching again!! :) I smile every time I think of that! :)
My favorite sewing tips—have the right size needle. Make sure your bobbins have enough thread. Have a trash can/or bag close to your sewing area. Check for pins after your item is completed. Make sure you know where your fingers are at when cutting or sewing. Close your rotary blade before setting it down after you have made a cut.
My best recommendation is to take my time when sewing small items like doll clothing. When I feel rushed I do not sew my best and make mistakes. I use my 1/4 in. patchwork seaming foot to keep my seams precise
My favorite sewing tip is cutting multiple pieces at one time and placing them in the order of sewing. This is a time saver and multiple items are produced.
One of my favorite tips is to always have 2 pairs of scissors, one at the machine and one at the ironing board.
My favorite sewing tip for doll clothes is using 1/4 wash away barring tape at the beginning and end of of seams to always keep them even. Works especially well when serving.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is that if nothing seems to be going right while sewing, put it away and come back another day or you’ll waste a bunch of time ripping stuff out over and over.
My favorite sewing tip or trick, sewing a piece of ribbon in the end seam of a skinny strap and using it to turn it inside out. Much easier than trying to use scissors or a pencil etc. Thanks so much!
press press press
My favorite trick is to read the pattern, cut and pin the pieces.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is.wetting the eye of the needle instead of the end of the thread to easily thread the needle.
My favorite sewing tip is press, press, press! It makes everything work better and easier and look so much more professional.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use my little triangle iron to iron the tiny seams flat as I sew. And to use lots of pins to keep small pieces together.
My favorite tip is using tissue paper when starting a seam under thin fabric to keep it from getting caught in the feed dogs.
My favorite sewing tip is going on You Tube when I don’t understand how to do something and then I can see it demonstrated.
My favorite sewing tip is keeping a mini iron (like the clover mine iron) plugged in and ready on my sewing table for quick seam pressing.
My favorite sewing tip is patience. When dealing with small items you need to be patient and just take your time.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is hand basting velvet before using the sewing machine so it doesn’t move. Also using tissue paper when sewing chiffon or other like fabric.
My favorite sewing tip is to wear a small pair of scissors on a ribbon around your neck so you never lose them and they are always available for snipping threads.
My favorite sewing tip is I don’t use any of my doll patterns. I buy pellon and cut my patterns out on it. Then I have a permanent pattern that I can use over and over again.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to have extra bobbins wound and a sharp new needle ready when starting a project (and make sure to keep your machine cleaned and oiled!)
My favorite tip is to press after each step for a pro garment!
My favorite sewing tip is to keep it simple…
First time posting… love the dress
Love your website can’t wait to get sewing….

My favorite sewing trick is to put paper under the delicate material so the feed dogs work without damaging the material
I like to use my quarter inch foot when sewing doll clothes. Helps to keep the narrow seams accurate.
My favorite sewing tip is to press with the iron often to make things look more professional. I call my iron my magic bullet!
My favorite sewing trick is to cut the main fabric and lining fab together – saves time !
My favorite sewing tip is to have several bobbins ready, so when you run out you can pop the next one in.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use an open toe foot so that I can see tiny details more clearly.
My favorite sewing tip is to get everything organized before l start a project. It’s so frustrating to be in the middle of a project and realize you don’t have the right size elastic or run out of thread!
Tissue paper. I buy it on sale after Christmas. I use it for stitching small seams and tricky fabrics, for piecing laces together to make wider insrts, pattern adjustments to name just a few.
My favorite sewing tip is one my mother instilled in me 50 years ago: use the iron! Pressing as you go when sewing can make a big difference in the finished product, especially on tiny doll clothes where there is such a small margin for error.
My favorite sewing tip is to press, press, press. Keep a small mini iron by your machine and a small ironing pad so you are ready to press everything!
…is to take a break after making two mistakes.
My favourite sewing tip is to always read the pattern fully and make sure I have all the necessary tools. And relax when it doesnt look exactly right
“My favorite sewing tip or trick is…" get all your items set up prior to sewing.
My favorite is wash a way basting tape. Holds velcro on so you don’t have to use pins, holds down bindings and facings so you can topstitch them evenly.
Like to cut multiples at the same time, it helps me sew more outfits quickly
I’ve been seeing for almost 60 years and my favorite sewing tip is reading all these!
I make a Luna Lovegood tweed coat – Pixie Faire peacoat pattern (for my Etsy shop) and tweed is so hard to work with – I found using a featherweight fusible interfacing really helps and the buttonholes are only possible by sewing over with tissue paper and then pulling it away after the buttonhole is made :) works wonderfully!
My favorite tip for doll clothes is to avoid using velcro if you don’t like it snagging the doll’s hair or the fabric. Use snaps instead, and if desired, sew buttons on the outside. For dresses, make them fully open in the back so that young children can more easily dress their dolls on their own.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is….well I don’t feel I’m qualified to give any tips or tricks but I sure do enjoy and appreciate reading others. That gives me new tools in my belt, thanks.
My favorite sewing tip is using a piece of tape to mark as a seam guide on my machine. My vision isn’t as good as it used to be and I can’t always see the machine markings.
My favorite tip from a friend was to keep your iron hot and press open seams and iron hem lines before sewing, etc.
My favorite sewing tip (lately) is to baste a lot. I find when sewing doll clothes, sometimes the seams are so small that it’s hard and prickly to use pins. Basting helps keep the seam right where I want it.
My favorite sewing tip is to plan for the unexpected. I don’t know about everyone else, but for me if something can go wrong it will.
My favorite sewing tip is when serging around doll clothes armholes I disengage the cutting blade. I can get very close to the edge without risking cutting into the armhole.
My favorite sewing tip is the little short cuts that are shown to make the dress easier to sew or embellish. I also like the tips for the details.
