My favorite family tradition is having family visit and spending time with them. The cooking and treats are all special but not as special as having our whole family together.

My favorite Christmas Tradition is putting together an American Girl scene on our coffee table. I have done a Nativity scene, School scene, Ice skating, etc. Each year for the past 10 years has been different.
My favorite Holiday tradition is watching our children and now grandchildren open their gifts and them having a wonderful and delicious meal with the entire clan.
My favorite Christmas tradition is attending the Christmas Vigil service on Christmas Eve. We still call it Midnight Mass even though it was held at 5pm this year. The church is beautifully decorated with Christmas finery and the service includes all the classic Christmas Carols. It’s a joyful occasion with family and friends gathering to wish each other a Merry Christmas and starts the day off on a high note. Then it’s food, fun and Santa Claus! My favorite holiday tradition is the unrehearsed telling and acting out of the nativity that my church puts on about two weeks before Christmas. It is amusing as the animals (adults and kids in masks) come and go. This year we had seven wise people! The story comes through loud and clear to all who participate or just cheer on the proceedings.

Each year my kids come to my house and we make our favorite Swedish potato dish called Krip Krokkers! It’s always a fun time and we all have lots of Krip Krokkers to eat throughout the season!

It was my paternal grandmother’s traditional Christmas breakfast and not sure if it was something that her parents did but once I asked my children if they wanted to have something different and my daughter protested saying, “it’s our tradition!” Therefore we still do it!

- I love making matching pajamas for my grandkids to wear on our family Christmas Day. We get a group photo of them. And they also wear them to bed in Christmas Eve as they wait for Santa to arrive.
- I also enjoy making stockings & filling them for my students. It’s great to see the joy as they discover what’s inside them.
- Christmas is a wonderful time of year! And when you love to sew, there are so many great ways to share your love through what you make.

We have popovers (my late mom served growing up), same egg casserole recipe my dad had growing up and cinnamon rolls that my husband’s late mother served. It makes me happy that we remember our mothers and have blended our families traditions together. People in our families look forward to it.

My favorite holiday tradition is baking cookies with my grandkids. It used to be doing it with my daughters, but their kids are even more fun! The mistakes, like breaking an egg all over the counter, are so memorable and funny. No one cares if they come out perfect.

Everything is decorated so nice and all the children are anxiously waiting to sing Christmas songs and listen to the story of Jesus birth. After church it’s always fun to hear the kids talk about what they heard in church. It’s so nice to know that they are still learning about and being reminded about the real meaning of Christmas.

We bring lots of homemade cookies, they make an extra large container of hot chocolate with all the fixings, and then they cue the lights to music. It’s great fun!

MAKING a Christmas Tree with my family. My sons are artists and my husband is an engineer, so they can be pretty wild. This year it’s an inside out “tree”.

Somehow, seeing the familiar stories (and often noticing things we hadn’t seen before, despite multiple viewings), laughing together, and reciting snippets of dialog, is always fun. These movies furnish the soundtrack to our times together.

My favorite holiday tradition is waking up Christmas morning with my sons and having them excited about stockings. My oldest is 25 and youngest is 21. He has autism and just started loving Christmas the last 8 years or so. We all embrace that excitement.

Sounds silly, but my parents figured out fifty years ago that if you take three over excited kids, stuff them full of pizza and drive them around looking at lights for an hour or so, those kids will get sleepy and go right to bed! The tradition is now on its third generation.
