My favorite tradition is choosing a different cuisine from around the world for our Christmas Day dinner. This year we are cooking Greek foods.
My favorite holiday tradition is decorating our tree, which is covered in ornaments that we made, purchased on our travels, or was given to us by a dear friend. These include the first doll I ever sewed for – my ca. 1965 troll doll, ornaments from our parents’ trees, and one of my dad’s favorite fishing lures. Every one of the ornaments carries a memory of our family, and I love unwrapping and hanging them each year.

It made me so happy to see him crawl inside and snuggle down for a long nap. I also made a gorgeous leopard print coat for my niece’s American Girl doll from a pattern I got from Pixie Faire and it was so pretty! This year we are in the midst of moving so I wasn’t able to make any gifts but I am already planning for next year.

My favorite holiday tradition is that the youngest one in the family able to pass out presents on Christmas morning is the one who does. It is a tradition started years ago. Everyone gets their turn and usually holds it for a couple of years. We open one present at a time and we all watch that person. The person who does it always hates it by the second year but it is a burden we all bear at one time or another.

“My favorite Holiday tradition is …on the first day of December we all gather at my daughter’s house and put up the lights, Santas, blowup items and such. We give her yard the Christmas/Yule make over, as this is where we go to spend our Christmas holidays. I live on a dead end street in the middle of no where, so no fun to decorate my place…lol! There are a lot of things we do at this time of year, however, as this is the start of the rest of the month long traditions, I do believe it is my favorite.”

Very merry Christmas to everyone. My favorite Christmas tradition. There are so many. Putting up the tree and my large village on the mantel. Going out at night and looking at all the lights up and down the streets. Watching “A Christmas Story”. Putting on the station in the car that plays Christmas music all month long. These are things i did with my children. Now with my grandchildren we continue all these with them. This is my greatest joy now.
