Hi Everyone! I'm back to wrap up the topic with a look at pulling all the items together for the Showtime Theme! As an added bonus, we have a set of mix & Match dress up ideas from Donna Kinley showing us some cute ideas for your dolls next dress-up party!
Now let's take a look at all the details for creating the different dress-up looks shown in the video!
Start with plain solid base. Could be a dress like the Versatile Reversible Tunic, leotard (ours is made from the Free Swimsuit pattern), or tank top and leggings.
Lace overlay: Use soft wide gathered lace and soft cording, ribbon, or midi braid trim.
Fringe can be done in the same way as the lace, or you can simply use a safety pin or sew on a snap for a closure. The safety pin allows for slight adjustments of the length. You may need to add seam sealant or stitching to prevent raveling at the ends of the fringe.
Head bands can be made quickly from lace or elastic. This can be tied or sewn to fit your doll’s head.
Feathers and boa trim can be found at the craft store. Just cut a length of trim and slide a feather behind the headband.
Use a sparkly fabric to make a dress overlay. Use a safety pin as a back closure if desired.
Put the opening in the front to wear as a long vest. Add a piece of jewelry to the center front of the garment.
String beads onto some elastic thread to create stretchy jewelry. Especially good for doll brace- lets. Look for beads that have larger holes for easier stringing. Tie thread in a secure knot before trimming thread tails.
Fancy hats and shoes can change the look of an outfit. Keep an eye out for doll size accessories when you are at the store!
