My favorite era is the 50’s. Such simple, neat lines and also fabulous “dressy” dresses, long and short.
Oh my goodness where do I start…LOL? I love the late 60’s and the 70’s (70’s are the greatest times as a teenager), I also like making the clothing of antebellum styles too.
I really don’t have a favorite—I love them all!
My favorite historical time period is probably the 1700’s. Sounds really weird, I know! But you’ve got so much history. The founding of our nation. The war for our independence. The Outlander period. Just so much cool stuff!
My favorite historical time period is Regency. The dresses are elegant and easy to sew. And I love this period bonnets, novels and films.
My favourite historical time period is the Victorian Period because the dresses were big and lovely.
One of my favorite time periods is Early Americana (roughly from the Revolutionary War thru the Civil War).
My favorite historical period would be the 1960’s – because of Jacqueline Kennedy’s influence on fashion. I’ve tried to make the pillowbox hat without much success and really wanted to create a copy of her iconic fashion for the 18" dolls.
My favorite historical time period is the roaring 20s.
I have always loved the Victorian Era saying to others I should have been born in that era as long to wear this beautiful dresses and hats!
My favorite time period to sew for my granddaughters dolls would be the 60’s! Such a fun time and beautiful garments with flowers, bell bottom pants! “Sew” fun!
Ooo….So many!! I love the 1970s! My teen years! But I also love the 1800s. I love the different eras that can define a look within that century.
My favorite historical time period to consider sewing for dolls would be the 60’s. Flower power outfits and bellbottoms!
I can’t decide between the elegance of the Victorian era and the nostalgia that I feel from the simplicity and homeyness of the 50’s era ~ some of which I vaguely remember!
It’s tremendously difficult to nail it down to a single point in history, but for me a favorite historical period is the Edo, or Tokugawa period. The final traditional period of Japan, it was a time of relative peace and security that saw culture and the arts flourish, lasting until the arrival of westerners. The clothing and hair adornment remain unparalleled in their beauty, tradition and craftsmanship.
I don’t really have a favorite. i like simple and pretty and Mod so the 50’s fit the picture.
My favorite historical period for fashion is the 20’s! Fun styles, but also beautifully hand made items with embroidery and their accessories.
My favorite historical time period is the 1940’s into the mid 1950s. I suppose it reminds me of my beautiful mother who was a fashionista.
My very favorite historical fashion would have to be during the Renaissance timeframes. I love Italian Renaissance gowns like Romeo and Juliet and English Renaissance like the Tudors. Love the long gowns and all the rich fabrics like velvet. Would love to learn how to make doll sized Renaissance jewelry by myself. That would be awesome to say the least.
My favorite historical time period is Edwardian, Victorian…attention to detail was paramount, fabrics and trims were elegant
My favorite historical time period is the 1950’s. I just love the little girl dresses from that time period!
My favorite historical time period would be the 1800’s.
My favorite historical time period would be the 1800’s.
My favorite time period is the early 1800s. I really love the clothes so I was overjoyed when I found all the historical patterns on Pixie Faire.
I love all of the historical patterns for all pierods.
My favorite time in history is the medieval time, My daughter loved it so that her wedding dress was a design from that time period!
I like the Victorian era. The clothing was elegant and beautiful.
My favorite historical period is Edwardian, followed by the 1930’s.
I’m a big fan of 1940’s fashions! I really love how polished and tailored the styles were.
My favorite historical time period is the 20’s. There’s such a variety from those that fared well to those that made do!
My favorite historical time period is the Victorian era, even more so with steampunk flair!
My favorite historical time period is early American because it is the beginning of our country. Of course I love the intricacy of all the old fashioned dresses
My favorite historical period is now. It’s the only time I can do anything. My Mom and Dad were brave and good during WWII. My great and great-great grandparents were brave and good in pioneer days. Our founding fathers and mothers were brave and good. I like to dress my dolls like these people sometimes. Now it’s my turn to try to live this day in a way worthy of those who came before me and to serve my generation as they served theirs.
If I were making the clothing for me, it would be WWII era clothing. If for a doll, it is Regency.
My favorite historical time period is around the 1970’s…mainly because it stirs up memories of days gone by in my younger days. And honestly, back then I was stress free and didn’t realize it!
I really can’t choose. There’s something about each time period that I fall in love with. I think it depends on the day of the week and the week of the year, for me. I love the roaring 20’s, the Victorian and Edwardian Eras, the Prairie Days, the War Years and each other decade of the 20th and 21st Centuries.
My favorite historical time is the “Roaring 20’s”. I love all those flapper dresses and the wonderful hats they wore.
Our family loves to dress up so consequently our dolls do too. I’m not sure I have a favorite but if I had to choose it would be a hard decision between early American settler surrounding our involvement in reenactments at a local log cabin and dressing up as Marmee from Little Women or Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice. Even my book choices reflect these eras
My favorite time period is the Victorian age. The clothing and homes were all so fancy and intricate. So pretty!
My favorite historical time period is the 1970’s. It was colorful, fun and very interesting. Many pattern styles and colorful outfits.
I love the 1800s during the Homesteading Act days. Each part of the country had very distinct clothing
My favourite era is victorian
If I were born in a different era, it would definately be Victorian. I love the elegance and romance and shivalry.

But I do like clothing from most eras.
My favorite time period is the one I’m currently in! It’s interesting to see how fashion changes!
I don’t really know what time period it is, but I love all the fancy dresses.
My favorite historical time period is the 50’s. My mother sewed not only for me and my sister, but for our dolls too,and taught us how!

The Edwardian era is my favorite historical period.
Marion
the 70’s. But I love the Regency and Victorian periods as well.
My favorite historical time period is the Edwardian era, and the 1950’s. Edwardian because the clothes were fabulous. The 50’s because I think of the post-war period as one of hope and the first steps into contemporary living as we know it now.
My favorite historical time period is the time of the Ancient Egyptians because it was utterly unique and very interesting.
My favourite historical era is the Victorian era. Love all those lace trims and fancy buttons.
My favorite historical time period is the Victorian and Regency time period with all the beautiful dresses and hats with the gloves so beautiful
My favorite historical time is the 50’s and also the Victorian time.
My favorite historical time period is in the Victorian days. I love the clothing and styles of that era.
My favorite historical time period is the Vikings. Tough people in tough times! I also love fur and chunky jewelry.
I enjoyed making clothing for my children in the 60’s and 70’s.
My favorite sewing era is the 50’s. I love all those cute fitted bodices and gathered skirts with all the crinolines!
I like some of the fashion trends from different eras. I like the ball gowns. Children’s clothing in the 50’s and 60’s. I enjoyed making clothing for my children
“My favorite historical time period is the 1770’s and the Civil War Era. I love the elegance of the formal gowns and the men’s suits, gloves and scarfs. I do also enjoy the look and style of the 1920-1940’s. My other favorite is the 1950’s evening dresses.
Tough question because I love history and the clothing of the different times. The 30’s adult outfits/gowns were so elegant, and the lines so clean, and the 20’s were fun with fringe and beading …but then there are other periods with hoop skirts, bustles, etc. which I also love. I’m not sure about the 30’s for children/dolls, but then our dolls can wear anything and clothes from any historical period we wish because they and we are playing “let’s pretend or dress-up”!
My favorite historical time period is the 1950’s simply because that is the time period in which i was growing up . I can totally relate to the lovely little girl fashions of the time, the gathered skirts, ,sashes, Peter Pan collars and stiff tulle petticoats, so pretty and dainty as well as being very, very feminine.
My favorite historical time period is the 1940s.
I’m not sure I have a top favorite time period, but the 1950s and Victorian are some I love.
My favorite historical time period are the roaring Twenties. I love how carefree the young people were back then, the flapper dresses, and the amazing music. I also love how women freed themselves from the shackles of the decades past, and began making their own way in life.
My favorite period in time is the time of knights and dragons. I think that was such a romantic time even if there is no such thing as dragons. I love the King Arthur legends.
My favorite historical time period is the Victorian age. The dresses were so elaborate and gorgeous! And those hats!!
My favorite historical time period is Victorian.
I LOVE the ciliv war period.
My favorite historical time period is anytime that has a really great dress style. But I do really like the Jane Austen era. A couple years ago for an OCC shoebox, I designed and hand-sewed a dress and bonnet. I pinned the pics here: https://pin.it/3jPMGHN
My favorite historical time period is the 1950’s.
Currently, my favorite historical period is the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. I also enjoy sewing medieval dresses. My project for Jan., 2022 is sewing 1980’s jeans, shirts and jackets.
My favorite time period is the 50’s and 60’s
I love the look for the time period shortly after the Revolutionary War … an interesting time in history and in fashion.
“My favorite historical time period is the Marie Antionette fashion flare. The drama of the styles from the top of the head to the bottom of the shoes is fascinating, fun and exciting. The thought of sewing my dolls a Marie Antionette wardrobe would be phenomenal experience!! Happy New Year to all.
My favorite time period for fashion is the 1950s and 60s. Everything is so cute then, and fun to sew. I also like the early indigenous people’s clothing.
I love the Civil War time period with the full skirts and lovely details!
Every period has appeal, but if pressed for a favorite, it is Mid Century Modern. Mid Mod gets so much love in furniture and decor, the period pieces are timeless. But the doll clothing category for this time period is woefully under-served. Would love to see more mid mod in doll clothing and furnishings!
I like the styles and embellishments of the pioneers, Victorian eras, and especially the fashions coming out of the 1930’s, after the tubular dresses of the 1920’s- with their less structured couture made of the most beautiful and decadent fabrics with hand you can see and feel from their pictures alone.
It’s difficult to overlook fashion icons like Joan Crawford, Marilyn Monroe- Hollywood costuming of all genres- as the combined expertise highlights the best of each era and genre to reference.
I’d love Original AG to reprint their patterns for the historical reference each girl represented!
Fun question! While I usually sew modern era clothes for dolls, every time I try one of the historical era patterns, I have such fun making them! The 50’s are probably my favorite era – I love the school dresses and dressier Sunday dresses for that era.
I love all the historical times. they are fun to research.
I love the Victorian era and others with the full skirts and detailed bodices also the 50s when girls dressed like girls with ruffles and lace.
For historical I like the regency period best. Those not quite so historical I prefer the 1960’s and 1970’s. Since fashions always seem to come around again I just enjoy sewing for the dolls and whoever gets the results is happy for a new outfit for their doll which also has to include the shoes.
I like the 30-40’s time period. :)
My favorite historical time period is the1800’s
My favorite time period is the 30-40
Although I love the Victorian period I sew modern up to date items because they are quicker and easier to make
My favorite historical time period is 1740s-1770s (pre & colonial era) as well as Civil War particularly Little Women. My ancestors fought at Culloden Moor in Scotland and were expelled for being Jacobites & came over here to become patriots in the Rev War like many of my other Patriot ancestors. Then, I love everything about Little Women books and 1994 movie. The dresses and the mannerisms.
I love the Regency era!
My favorite time period is 1930-1950. I loved the “can do with very little”mindset. The make your own everything. How gracious and kind most people were, despite being so poor. I was born and a young child during this era and photos of those times are very precious to me. I love creating my dolls wardrobe from this era.
My favorite time period is the 1960’s because of the bell bottoms and fun colors!
My favourite time period is the 1800’s. They knew how to live off the land and use what was available to them. Life May have been hard, but it worked.
My favorite time period is the Victorian Era. I love to make different ethnic clothing for my dolls.
My favorite time period is the 50’s when little girls wore dresses with smocking and crinoline, and babies wore sunsuits of batiste and big bonnets.

My favorite period of clothing Fin de siecle (end of the century) was some of the most imaginative design . it looked backward and attempted to look forward.
