I love any time period that features floor-length dresses!
My favorite historical time period is the mid 1880’s. I love the gowns- so flowing and the peasant ones also to go with it.
My favorite historical time period is the 1950’sdue to the fashion and decor. I loved the full skirts and fabulous prints with the home furniture.
My favourite time period is Victorian era . I love the dresses and gentleman attire.
Any dress from the wife of past presidents that she wore to a ball!
My favorite historical period is the Edwardian era. I love all the dresses from this time.
Rococo (late 1700s), Regency, mid-1800s…and 1970s. Can’t choose one!
My favorite historical time period… whichever I happen to be reading about at the time? Okay, truly I do have a soft spot for the 1940’s.
You couldn’t have asked a harder question. I have three girls that have dolls in all time periods, and I have thoroughly enjoyed sewing for each one. I do especially love sewing fashions from the 40’s and 50’s when my mom was growing up and was a young adult. She taught me to sew, and it allows me to honor her memory.
My favorite historical time period changes frequently, often based on which doll I happen to be sewing for at the time. I enjoy sewing a lot of historical styles for dolls. I find the 1940s styles a bit stodgy and the 80s styles just a bit MUCH in general, but pretty much every other era is fair game for me!
I love the 50’s.
My favorite time period is in the 1800’s and the life of pioneers. I have ancestors who were pioneers and I admire their frugality, work ethic, and faith.
I love the 1940’s. to me they make the dolls and ladies look so feminine.
I absolutely don’t know the name of the era. Lower-class Renaissance, maybe? When men wore stockings and loose overblouses and one of those vests that goes over your head and ties on the side? Women in simple long linen dresses, slightly fitted, maybe with the same type of vest? Some of the lower class Victorian era stuff, too, I think. Also hippie-dippy stuff from the 70s :-)
My favorite historical time is the roaring 20’s. Such fun dresses and headwear!
Probably my favorite historical time period would be during my span of life. I was born in 1955 and the styles that have followed me through my life have all been intriguing. Unbelievable how much styles change in just a year or two. Fun to watch!
My favorite historical time period is the 1980s because it is of my childhood, however clothes wise I would say Regency era.
My favorite historical time period is Victorian.
I love all historical fashions!! I love the buccaneer and pioneer; the roaring 20’s with flamboyant fashion, and the 50’s stylish mod clothes! They all make a statement and half the fun is seeing if they notice that period when patterns are sewn.
My favourite period is the 50’s
My favorite historical time period is the 1950’s, when fashions were feminine and graceful, and colors were clear and bright.
I love the 1950’s, the pictures of the dresses my mom dressed me in then are just too cute and “girly”. Happy New Year.
My favorite historical period is the 1920’s I just love the clothing style that the men and women wore.
My favorite time period is the American Revolution period of 1770’s, from simple everyday dress to fancy ball gowns. Love the men’s fashions too with all the buttons on the cuffs and lapels. Don’t like the men’s wigs though, I think they look dumb and must have been very hot and itchy. Can’t say I’m a fan of powdered hair either, but love the ladies curls. An exciting and dangerous time to be an American. This was the first time period I became more interested in studying a specific historical fashion, way back during the Bicentennial in 1976. We even had a Bicentennial party with costumes. So fun.
I do not have a favorite.
I look for patterns that would be easy for granddaughters to use.
Thank you for all the freebies and tutorials!
I would like to see more clothing for boy dolls, and folk costume/traditional dress, I mostly sew modern (1950 -2000) but really enjoy regency and 1800s
I love historical clothing—especially the 1950s.
My favorite historical time period would be the the 18th Century. The fashions and fabrics at that time were varied and so interesting.
My favorite historical period is the Roaring 20’s, for it’s elegance and panache.
My favorite time period is the Regency.
My favorite historical time period is depression era. I love making replicas of my grandmother and her sisters outfits that my great grandmother had sewn for them.
I have to go with two. My favorite time periods are Antebellum/Civil War and Edwardian.
I have always been fascinated by the 1930. The elegant flow of the fashions was so feminine.
My favorite historical time period is either the Revolutionary War era or the Civil War era. I love the dresses of that time.
I have several favorite time periods — I can’t pick just one! I love the opulence of the incredible embroidery and intricately woven silks (but not the powdered wigs) of the 18th century. I love the slender and delicate silhouette of the Regency era because of its femininity. I love pioneer dresses because of the story of the westward movement. And I especially love 1930’s feedsack dresses because of the colorful prints and the mindset of simplicity and repurposing things and being content without being rich!
My favorite historical time period is Late 60’s/ Early 70’s – tree hugging hippies
My favorite historical times are definitely the regency and renaissance eras. The clothing was beautiful!
My favorite historical time period is the 50’s, but I’m intrigued with the Roaring 20’s, though we sadly don’t see much for that time period in doll items.
My favorite period is just pre-civil war. I love all the very full skirts and hoops and corsets. Altho I imagine sewing a life-size dress like that would have taken a very long time!
This is a tough one as I love the ’50’s but the Roaring 20’s with all it’s elegance but also the dress of everyday life as they were polar opposites.
My favorite historical time period would be the outfits from the Victorian era – such beauty and grace in those dresses.
My favorite historical time period is the regency period, the lines of dresses are so clean looking.
1900 period
I grew up in the 80s/90s. My favorite fashion decades are the 60s and 70s. That might not be considered historical, but those are what I like best.
My favorite historical time period is the pioneer era. I’d love to see more patterns from this time—even for Bitty Baby! (I know a few are available for 18" and 14" sizes.)
I like both the Victorian period and the Western (1860s) period
My favorite historical time period is the 1950’s for the fashion and décor. I was not alive then but it was during my mothers teen years. I would have loved to see it all for myself.
I love the variety. There are different clothes using different mediums, boy and girl clothing, furniture – a great place to come for inspiration.
my favorite historical time changes frequently; I love history and read mostly non-fiction so it sort of depends on what I am reading LOL however, my go to time is the roaring 20s. My grandmother Dorothy was young (just married) and a professional (unusual for the times) and she loved her nail polish and lipstick! I imagine her life and think of her often. She lived to 98 yrs old. She was a lovely woman. XOXO
My favorite historical time period is 1900 – 1915. I loved the styles then especially for children and it was a simpler time.
My favorite time period was the 1970 and could afford to buy and wear the current styles.

My favorite Historical time period is 1950s, but I also love the Victorian era dresses.
My favorite historical period would be the 80s and 90s
My favorite historical time period is the Civil War Era and the years following. Such history for women and our country.

My favorite historical time is the 1950’s. I was born in 52. My mother sewed doll clothes and a Halloween costume for me during that time period.
My favorite historical time period was the 1970s. This is the time period that I really started noticing trends and the difference in cultures. I do like the dresses from the 1920s and 1930s but I couldn’t imagine myself wearing those on 80 plus degree days!

I love the Fit and Flare styles of the 1950’s and the drop waist and fringe styles of the flapper dresses! Might have to see how the two would mesh. Hmmm

I’m intrigued by all of historical time periods.

The Victorian era is definitely my favorite. Love all those petticoats!
I like them all. Each time period has a unique style for children’s clothes and the little details that were added.
I’m not sure I have a total favorite. Part of how I first learned about historical time periods growing up was in reference to American Girl doll time periods which I loved learning that way! Making doll clothes, I do love the mid 1850-60s a lot. But mostly I love to learn about different cultural histories over time rather one snapshot of a certain people in a certain era.
My favorite time period is the 50’s.
