I sew, knit and crochet primarily as a hobby. On average I do these hobbies in the winter months. In six years my youngest son will graduate from high school and will be off to college, at that point I will sew year round as I want to learn to quilt.

I sew, knit, and crochet as a hobby. I have two granddaughters that have 18 inch dolls as well as having five myself. This Christmas I made doll clothes for a friend of my daughters who could not afford to purchase them. Love being able to do that for someone. Sew probably 4-5 hours a week but knit or crochet every evening while watch TV (18-20 hours a week.)

“I sew primarily as a hobby now as I am downsizing my home business, Katie’s Doll Closet. On average, I spend between 5-10 hours a week…unfortunately, until I can retire—4 more years—my time is limited. I find myself sewing for my grandchildren more and I’m excited about making matching outfits for them and their dolls. As a former history teacher, my love is making the historic clothing, but the modern has always sold better—that is why I’m glad I found Liberty Jane patterns. Currently, I’m working on recreating some Outlander outfits which sell well to my older customers.”

I sew, machine quilt and embroider a varying amount of time per week as a hobby. For a while, My sewing/ embroidery machine was broken & I had to have time away to be with family members in the hospital. I have a different machine now and I am learning how it works in order to begin in earnest again. I have 2 doll dresses all cut out along with a quilt that I am embroidering for one of our granddaughters. This year, we are getting a new granddaughter to sew for. Yeah!

“I sew/knit/crochet/craft and experiment, because that is what I’ve done most my life, I can say that, that is a big part of who I am so I’m doing it for the pure ‘love of it’ . I spend most of my ‘free’ and ‘sleep’ -time doing that. So it is fair to say that I spend at least 30 hours per week doing something doll related.

I sew primarily as a hobby. On average I sew zero hours per week ?. I’m a wife, mom and homemaker who homeschools my children so my desire is to carve out a time to sew on a daily basis eventually. In November I prepped patterns and cut out fabric for several dresses for my daughter’s Wellie Wisher dolls (she got two for her birthday) but I just haven’t gotten to actually sewing. Maybe soon! I’m hopeful! Happy January everyone!!!

I sew and knit primarily as a hobby but do also have a little cottage business, Kinder Capes, making super hero capes for kids, age 2-6. Kinder Capes started as a random act of kindness for a friend looking for a party favor for her son’s 5th birthday. Seven years later, capes are still in demand. I love sewing and several hours a day would be my New Year’s resolution but I will settle for about 10-12 hours a week. There are always more projects than time. I love to sew – better than Yoga!

I sew primarily to make myself and my family happy, I spend at least 8 hours per week sewing. OMG! This is the one I have been waiting for… I’ve been making matching Doll outfits to go with my granddaughter’s 1861 clothes that “we” made for her 1861 Girls School. Seeing her so happy hand and machine sewing just warmed my heart and made me smile. This outfit is wonderful. It would be so nice to win It. Most of these patterns are in my wish list! I sew and crochet primarily as a side business as I work full time. I also make handmade gifts for my family. Doll clothes, pocket books, primitive items, mittens, gloves, hats, slippers as well as crocheted baby sets. On average, I spend 8-10 hours a week on them as I sew and crochet in the evening while I am watching television. I find it relaxing after my full time day job to go off by myself and create something. Of course there are times we craft less and times we craft more (such as when I am preparing for a craft show). Sometimes I take a break from it as I have a lot of other hobbies such as gardening, painting, writing, reading, etc. Never craft when I have time I can spend with my husband, children or grandchildren unless we are working on a project together. My family comes first as I know how precious the time is we get to be together.
