I sew and crochet primarily to bless other people, through shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child, or by gifting items to special people. I sincerely believe every little girl should have the opportunity to have a doll, with lovely clothes and accessories, to enrich her playtime during those precious, fleeting days of childhood. It is a privilege to create beautiful things for a child who may only get one gift in her entire childhood via the OCC shoebox gift ministry.

I SEW (and sometimes knit or CORCHET) on an average of 30 or more a week…I do it because I love doing it and because it is therapy, for my currant home situation, I can get away from the loud volume TV that my husband watches and the horrible programs he watches. I do it for a bit of spending money (mending and alterations that I do for the public and my family), and I love making doll clothes….for my grandchildren and all my little friends….Some of it I get paid for and a lot I do not because I do it for little ones who would not get it otherwise. I have given many dolls and full wardrobes of clothes away just because I love the little girls I do it for…Sewing is something that you can see for your time and effort. I take pride in everything I do… If a job is worth doing it is worth doing WELL and I was taught to do it as unto the Lord. Quality is important to me…I am a senior on a very limited old age security pension budget. So the things I charge for just keeps me in thread and notions for the next project….people often donate fabric to me and I do a lot of what I call upscycle, I would love to have the patterns… Thanks Cinnamon and the Liberty Jane and Pixie Faire teams…God Bless.

I sew in spurts, like 2-3 days for 2-4 hours at a time. Then I’ll put away the projects and come back to them a month later.

I sew for every reason I can think of! For fun, for relaxation, for profit, but mostly to see my granddaughter’s faces light up when I give them a brand new outfit for their dolls. I spend anywhere from a couple of hours a week to 8 hours a day sewing, depending on the projects. I’ve been sewing on the same machine for forty years, starting with making clothing for my now grown children. Over the years I have made nurses scrubs and tote bags for profit but mostly I sew just for the pleasure it gives me and those I make things for
