I sew primarily as a hobby. I’ve just returned to sewing after a few years of babysitting grandchildren and caring for my elderly parents and I enjoy making doll clothes for my granddaughters. I sew just a few hours a week—probably 3 or 4 hours in 15 to 20 minute increments.

I knit, sew, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider, and quilt. My husband and I have a leather-working small business, so I don’t get to sew, etc, as much as I would like. Usually I will relax in the evenings with my knitting or whatever I’m working on. It’s my way to unwind. I love making doll clothes. All the granddaughters are too old for their dolls, so I bought one for myself! She has a lovely wardrobe.

I sew and embroider as a hobby making items for several charities and also gifts for family and friends. I learned early on that I could never make this a home business because my personal stress of needing to do everything ‘perfectly’ for a client was way too great for me. I generally spend 5-10 hours per week with my hobby.
