Simply Shoes - Working With Vinyl Fabric

Hi Everyone! This week we get to look at sewing shoes with vinyl fabric. This may seem a bit intimidating, but honestly it gets easier with just a bit of practice. Of course, having the right supplies on hand helps too!

Resource and Supply list:

  • Pre-cut Shoe Soles (all sizes)
  • 2mm Foam Sheets - Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, Amazon
  • 6mm Foam Sheets - Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, Amazon
  • Cork Sheets - Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, Amazon
  • 1/4" wide Steam a Seam - Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, Amazon
  • Heat n' Bond - Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, Amazon
  • Cotton Fabrics - These are the easiest types of fabrics to find! Places like Jo Anns, Hobby Lobby, even Wal-mart usually have a variety of quilting cotton or fat quarters available. Check out online stores for packaged sets from brands like Moda Fabrics too!
  • Middy Braid Trim - Amazon
  • Braided Natural Trim - Amazon
  • 1/4" ribbon
  • 1/4" elastic

  • Double sided adhesive sheets Amazon (we cut ours in smaller squares)

You have eyelets and buckles on the shoe supply list.
Are there any plans to do a video on making shoes with eyelets or buckles?
I would really like to see a video on making doll shoes with eyelets like tennis shoes or boots.
BTW, thanks for the links to all the supplies as Joann’s, Micheal’s, and Hobby Lobby don’t seem to carry the 1/8" or 3/16" eyelets, or 5 or 6 mm EVA foam anymore.

What weight of chip board do you use for the soles? I can find medium weight.
