Hi Everyone! In Part Two we continue with our deep-dive into sewing with hook and loop tape with a demonstration from Donna of dKinley Designs. Follow along to see her go-to method for creating a professional finish when sewing with hook and loop.
This video demonstrates a method for applying hook and loop tape to create a back closure that resembles a lap zipper in clothing. The method is best suited for lightweight fabrics and involves placing the tape within the seam allowance on each side of the garment closure. The tape is stitched in place using a zigzag stitch, and then the garment is closed by folding one side of the tape along the center back line and topstitching it in place with just one stitching line 3/8" in from the center back. The bottom horizontal line of stitching is done to secure both seam allowances. The video also provides tips for pressing and finishing the garment. Overall, this closure method offers a professional looking alternative to traditional doll clothes closures.
