Hi Everyone!
Join us for a month of interactive conversations about purchasing fabric online! We'll be addressing things such as, determining the weight and appropriate scale, finding historically accurate fabrics, understanding the different types of fabric and how to pick the right fabric for the garment.
Watch this video and be sure to leave a few questions in the comments below so we can build this course topic to fit your needs!
In other news, we've moved into our new office/studio space in California! It's still chaos and we're still getting things figured out, but I really wanted to give you peek at what's been going on here! I hope you enjoyed the mini tour!

as i dont live in the USA and can find so many fabric stores just “around” the corner i never buy fabrics online. however i would like to know how to search for the right kind of fabric for historical dresses but then in a translation to f.e. steampunk. the shown models of the patterns at pixie faire are very often little flowers, bright colours, stripes and so on. But in this i’m not sure if that was the real thing for the 1800-1900 period. thank you for giving some idea’s about this

I am very interested in learning which weight of knits to use for doll clothes. There are so many of them and some are so thin they are difficult to sew properly. I tend to like the somewhat thicker type (men’s t-shirts) but not sure what weight they are. That would be great to know……and where to find the best ones to use as well. For swim wear and that type of thing, what is the best weight of fabric to buy and where do you find it? Thanks!

I have all but ceased buying fabric online, having made many mistakes. I have found I just have to be super-careful with regard to scale and also fabric type. I would like to know how to read the ruler often shown as a scale. What scale would you recommend for our 14- to 18-inch dolls?

I’m confused when purchasing knits online to make doll tops, pants, or dresses. Is there an easy way to understand the fabric weights? I’ve made some purchase mistakes, the knit ended up being too thick or thin for the project I had in mind. Is there a Go-To Guide somewhere that helps one to understand what weight and type of knit fabric are best for each type of doll garment you are making?
