I have the hardest time finding notions scaled for doll clothing at my local fabric store.
I shop for [Velcro strips] at [Micro Center] – they have micro fine, thin strips that can be cut to size in rolls designed to hold cables in bundles (hook one side, loop the other.)
I have the hardest time finding prints that are small enough for doll clothes
I shop for fancy dress fabrics, tulle, and specialty knits at JoAnn’s. I often find small pieces of these fabrics in the remnants bin. When the remnants bin goes on sale, I stock up!
I have a fun time shopping for fabrics at thrift stores and garage sales.
I shop for doll fabrics at Joann Fabrics, the only fabric store within a 25 mile radius from me (I live in a small town). It can be difficult finding prints that are to scale.

Like everyone else, embellishments such as buttons are hard to find but I also have problems finding embroidery designs small enough. They can only go so small.

I have the hardest time finding knits in both small prints and bright girly colors. When we had Hancock they had beautiful pinks, purples and yellow. I don’t find those colors elsewhere. Thankfully I still have some left. Corduroy prints are also hard to find. I shop at Walmart for clearance boys striped tops and girls leggings which I then recycle. The girls leggings are quite nice doll weight fabric and the girls in the neighborhood enjoy having matching leggings.

I have the hardest finding fabrics. In December, two fabric/yarn stores closed. I have shifted to Etsy or Amazon or my quilt shop Glad Creations which will also be closing in 2019. Fortunately when Hancock Fabrics closed here I loaded up on fabrics of all kinds and notions. Also I check out thrift stores for clothes in the fabrics I can use. Pixie Faire is the best place to get notions.

I have a hard time finding notions. I’ve been blessed with inheriting my mother and grandma’s sewing stash. Is full of buttons, lace and trims, materials going back to over 50 years. There are times I need just the right button or trim to match.

I have several online suppliers that I use but I also like to shop Thrift Stores. I find some unusual fabrics in the table cloth/placemat section. Lots of usable fabric for a very low price. Also like to shop the Dollar Stores for little items to add to the dolls wardrobe and also cheap socks to make tights and socks for dolls. .Check out garage sales for doll suitcases and trunks.

I find a lot of my materials from recycling any clothing that I think will work-kids clothing, remnants, t-shirts for knit fabric, etc. I shop my local Dollar Tree for some small items. I also have a hard time finding thin velcro so I buy the regular and cut it in half. It works great! I also shop at JoAnns, yard sales, thrift stores, anywhere I can find what I’m looking for. I also have a fair sized stash of fabrics and trims as I pick them up whenever I find them. I’m always on the lookout for items I think I can use. My patterns mostly come from Pixie Faire and JoAnns as they carry ones that fit the best for 18" dolls.

I live about 60 miles from any fabric stores. We do have a Walmart about 15 miles away so I do shop there for some things. I’m lucky that I have my mothers stock pile of fabric and trims that she gave me. I don’t us zippers instead I use Velcro. I also like to shop yard sales and thrift store for fancy dress to make prom dress for my dolls.
