I am always on the lookout for clothing in the right scalp print, anywhere that I am. Thrift shop or? I’ve been known to purchase a new tank top when I loved the print. (Vest?) Or color for ribbing.
I have the hardest time finding doll size zippers and velcro. However, I discovered some shops on Etsy that sell them. Woohoo!
I have the hardest time finding small lace trims and ribbons for 18" doll clothes
I have a hard time finding small, suitable machine embroidery patterns.
I shop for sewing supplies at estate sales. I get things often unopened for a fraction of store prices. I even get things I never knew existed and have to learn how to use them; then I wonder why you don’t see them in the stores. Our grandparents had some really cool stuff.
I have a hard time finding doll sized items too. I thank those that sell them because it makes it eaasier for me to make my stuff.
I shop for fabric at fabric.com because they have a great selection of smaller prints that are in proportion for the dolls.
I shop at Pixie Faire for supplies, if they don’t have it, I go to Nancy’s Notions.

I have found tiny buttons on etsy. I really haven’t done much with tiny zippers. Also on etsy, tiny buckles, belt slides, etc, oh, the thin soft Velcro. I used to cut 3/4 inch Velcro in half lengthwise. Works a treat!

I have a hard time finding ready made mini piping in decent colors for clothes for smaller dolls especially ones less than 18". Somehow my homemade version never looks the same.

I have the hardest time finding the right size zippers, buckles or notions. I’ve bought some and when they arrive they are way too small or big. Pictures don’t tell the correct size!!!
Finding things that will work, for your project in what the creative process is all about, It’s a good thing to reuse or repurpose things Before throwing things out I look at them and think about what could it be used for. Small pockets on old jeans could be used for a bag for a doll. Using your imagination can lead to some amazing creations. If you have old clothes or purses that have to be tossed,i would first remove any buttons or hardware that can be reused before you know it your have just the right thing for your project.

I shop for fabric at any & every fabric store I go to. I hit the bargain basket/bin in each store. The small pieces of fabric are very good for doll clothes. I look for small prints in cottons & blends. I also, am drawn to shiny, sparkly fabrics for making fancy dresses.

My favorite place to find fabric is our local thrift shop, on Fridays they have “Diggers Delight” I can fill a shopping bag full of clothes for free!
I shop for dolls supplies at thrift stores such as hospital ones that have really good older vintage type material and accessories or value villages. If I buy new I get wool and accessories at micheals and material at fabric land. I prefer older vintage clothing material.

I started making doll clothes for my granddaughter’s AG (Roxie) and her BFF next door about a year ago. New to this type of sewing, I am not that savvy on where to get snaps, zippers, buckles, etc for these dolls. Kinda of hard to find them, but I am learning!

I’m a quilter and a thrifter. So when I see fabrics that are small scale I set them aside for doll clothes making.
I shop at JoAnn Fabrics locally and Farmhouse Fabrics, Shabby Fabrics, and Hawthorne online. I do have an almost impossible task finding doll size buttons, fabric prints, trims etc etc.
I have the hardest time finding narrow stripes in assorted colors in knits. I like to make tights and thigh highs for my doll outfits but find it almost impossible to find thin striped knits. Anyone have a place I could look besides the thrift store, which I do frequent?

I can usually find what I need at JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby. Sometimes WalMart will surprise me! I’ve also been very lucky to have been given doll size laces, ribbon & trims and some fabrics that have doll size patterns. For very small zippers, I buy online.
You’d think some manufacturer would jump on the bandwagon and start offering doll sized notions and fabrics! There is definitely a need for them IMHO

I shop for everything in my craft room-lol. I have a bit of a craft store addiction. So usually when I want to make something, sew something, create something… I have everything on hand that I might want to use.
