My favorite era of clothing and fashion is a tossup between the medieval styles clothing (the brave knights, the gorgeous dresses & outfits of both genders of nobility and even the simpler outfits the peasants wore)… or those styles worn by the various North American Indian tribess from 16-1700’s.

My favorite era of clothing and fashion was the 60’s. I grew up in that era and so many things went on, that changed our lives today. The fashion world was at the top of their game. Twiggy was big. Mini skirts, go go boots, halter tops and dresses, peasant blouses. Bell bottom pants. Hip huggers, waffle stompers, macrame items, groovy floppy hats, wide belts, fringe, Afro hairstyles, long hair on both guys and gals, Elephant pants. Nehru shirts and jackets. The hippie movement, peace protests, flower power, cruising the Ave etc The Vietnam war. The space program was going big. The music transformed so many things. Greatest era for music. The Beatles, the Monkees, Janis Joplin. Roller skating was big with wooden floors and a real organ. I’d love to see a pattern for a Nehru jacket and go go boots. One of my favorite outfits was bibbed shorts in brown and small yellow polka dots, a yellow lighting bolt on the bib and yellow shirt. I also see the new American doll released today is a Latino Astronaut. Awesome. Go 60’s.

My granddaughter for whom I sew is a 2000s girl. Me, I enjoy the. 60s when I was a girl——knife pleated skirt school uniforms, pedal pushers and blouses, before t shirts became the thing. I cant think of a pattern that I have not seen on Pixiefaire, so I will say maybe just an accessories collection, as in hats n gloves together or purses n shoes together

I love the clothes of the mid- to late-1800’s when my grandma was a child. When I make clothes from this era for an 18" doll, I look at the finished product and see Grandma as a young girl; so proud. I would like a pattern with full, long sleeves, full bodice, sashes tied behind the back, and pockets on a long, full skirt with a wide ruffle around the feet. I have a picture of Grandma wearing ‘this dress’, holding her Bible, and it so depicts the era. She was probably headed out walking to church.
