Like most other sewers, my stash is overwhelming, so I have shopped from there for all kinds of things for making masks, doll’s clothes, jammies for 3 grandsons and grandaughter’s dresses. I have lots of local outlets to buy from, Joann’s is the closest, but the quality of the fabric there really is inferior to other quilt shops and the craft stores. I don’t like buying online, because I can’t feel the fabric, one of the best parts of visiting a fabric store! Home Sew is a great resource for doll size notions, and they have shoes too! I am disappointed that the supply of things in small scale is not as it used to be, like in the 80’s so many cute buttons, and prints. I have found fabrics in the stash, that are much more appropriate for doll fashion that what is available now.
I shop at Joann’s, Hobby Lobby & Walmart retail stores, but also like to shop the online stores such as Etsy etc. Customer service and product quality are always important.
I shop for doll shoes at Hobby Lobby I am pleased to use their coupons and get them at a reasonable price. I also shop there for patterns and buttons
I shop for fabric at my local quilt shop or online. I buy from small businesses but sometimes at Joann’s.
I shop for doll stuff on Home Sew. I quality is always good. I’ve also shopped on Pixie Faire. No disappointments there.
I shop at quilters plus where I find great fabrics
I buy all my patterns at Pixie Faire and shop Joann’s for fabric.
I shop for sewing supplies and fabric mostly at Hobby Lobby, Joan’s Fabric, Walmart and sometimes online. I am pleased about the costumer service and the relationships I have developed over the years with the employees. They are all friendly!
I shop for most of my fabrics in many places including, Etsy, JoAnn’s and a British company named, Cool Crafting. I am pleased with the quality and customer service for all three of these businesses. I would love to visit the store in England one day!
I shop for sewing/doll supplies at Hobby Lobby. I am pleased with the great ladies that man the fabric area. We are lucky to have HLobby, since Jo-Ann’s has closed two of their nearest stores. It is now a 30-minute drive to the closest quilt store or a Jo-Ann’s. The quilt store is great! Quality fabric and quality serve. Jo-Ann’s has great employees, however they are ALWAYS short-handed. The “line” is long to purchase fabric and the “line” to check out is even longer. Jo-Ann’s could do a better job of fabric quality and more interesting and up-to-date patterns. I purchase all my patterns from Pixie Faire or Etsy.
I shop for notions, doll accessories, laces, buckles, needles.. They have supplies that can’t be found anyplace else. Service is quick and good. Representatives are very helpful.
Because of Covid this past year, I haven’t shopped for doll supplies. I have been buying masks fabric online and using scraps and supplies at home to make doll clothes and things.
I shop for patterns and fun ideas from Pixie Faire. The instructions are easy to follow and the patterns fit great. If I didn’t have sewing to keep me busy dury this pandemic, I think I would have gone bonkers.
I shop for material at Joannes fabric and Walmart I am happy with the trimmings available and ribbons. I look at pixie fairy’s website for ideas and gain practice and skill in my sewing
“I shop for fabric at Joann Fabrics and Doll patterns at Pixie Faire. I was pleased with the selection of doll patterns and supplies at Pixie Faire, JoAnn Fabrics is the only local place to shop for fabric.
For most of my sewing needs I shop at Joann’s, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s but fordiol sized items I like Farmhouse Fabrics on-line and a couple of shops on Etsy. My stash is huge and often I can find main items in my own sewing room. But I am a sucker for seasonal fabrics on sale anywhere.
I shop for sewing and dolls supplies with Home Sew. They have a nice selection
I shop for fabric and notions at Joann’s, Walmart , Imelda’s my local quilt shops. The local shops are super customer service. The bigger store are nice as well.
I shop for material and supplies at Joanne’s, both online and if I’m in a city where there’s a Joanne’s, in person which is REALLY a huge TREAT! I was pleased with the speed of delivery when I’ve shopped online.
I really like to shop for fabric at my local quilt fabric stores although I have not done so since the pandemic hit. I have shopped at Joann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby because they are near me and open for business. I have shopped for specialty fabrics and sewing items via Etsy and been happy with that. I have shopped for small overall buckles at both zipper that doll and the place in PA but can’t remember the name right now. I’m always pleased when someone has something in stock and ready to ship. I ordered a sewing machine foot for my own Christmas present online but had my Santa go pick it up in person. I’ve been happy with the service I received from KAM snaps this year. The snaps came quickly.
I shop for sewing notions at local quilt shop or Joann’s I am pleased with value.
I’ve collected new and used clothing to use as fabric for my doll clothes and other sewing projects. I like to repurpose so my shopping is done wherever there is a thrift store. Finding 6 yards of fabric for $1.00 is hard to resist and 50 cents for a leather coat is also a great find! For notions I usually shop at Hobby Lobby, Walmart or Joann’s Fabric Store.
“I shop for material and other supplies at Joann’s and Fabric.com . I was pleased with not having to go out during COVID" Not the same as looking in person, but it worked under the circumstances.
I shop for fabrics from Hancock’s of Paducah. I get trims and notions from yard and estate sales. I love the quality fabrics from H of P.
I shop for most of my craft materials at Michaels (only craft store in my area). I like their selection for craft supplies and they have wonderful employees; however, they’re not a fabric store and I definitely miss the JoAnn Fabrics that closed several years ago.
I satisfy my fabric addiction mainly at Joann’s although Hobby Lobby is a little closer. I almost broke out in tears this summer when I saw how empty the shelves were during the height of mask sewing. Glad to see the variety is returning. I will also check the wonderful online stores that have been listed.
I shop for fabric at thrift stores and garage sales using clothing with small prints. I get my doll patterns at Pixie Faire and my notions from Joann’s.
if I shop at all I shop at Wal-Mart & Joanns but try to only shop in my storage room with my fabrics stash of years!
I almost always shop at Mood Fabrics for my sewing fabric. They always have a great selection of quality fabric, their customer service is excellent and the order usually gets delivered fast.
I like to shop for vintage fabrics/prints at thrift shops, estate sales, up cycling shops, etc because you never know what cool stuff you might find!
I shop for accessories on line- mostly Etsy, sometimes Amazon
I shop for fabric and thread at JoAnnns. I like to see the actual size of the print. Customer service is always good. For zippers and small parts Zipper that Doll. It has a small zipper pull so it’s in scale. I recently found Snapsource for my snaps. All have great customer service.
I shop for doll fabric at Second hands stores. I like vintage fabric with small prints. I also like bargains I find there.
I shop from my years of hoarding fabrics and supplies.
“I shop for sewing supplies at my local quilt shop or at Spotlight. I am always happy with the customer service and value at the quilt shop. Spotlight is a bit hit and miss sometimes but I don’t have much choice with needing certain things I can’t get at the quilt shop. I have to shop online or the nearest store is an hour away from me.
I ‘shop’ these days in my considerable stash of fabrics. But before and hopefully after the pandemic I made much use of The Legacy, a specialized thrift store out of a senior center. They sell fabric by the pound, leather by the pound, and vintage rag doll and toy patterns. I also love Hobby Lobby.
I shop for fabrics and patterns mostly at JoAnn because it is very close and they have a reasonable selection and sometimes some very good sales. I also check thrift stores for fabric and things that can “become” fabric, and older patterns.I have used Fabric.com when I needed something specific like dotted Swiss.
Living in New Zealand, we don’t have access to some of the wonderful sounding stores you have, so I buy most of my doll supplies on line and patterns from Pixie Faire🥰
I shop at resale shops for many items. For my sewing machine needs and sewing accessories I shop at Kramer’s Sew and Vac. They are great with customer service in Cincinnati, OH.
Like so many other sewers, I have a stash. I like to make doll clothes out of clothes that no longer are in style, recycling. I live in a small town so we do not have a fabric store, but there are quilt shops in some neighboring towns that I like to shop when I get a chance.
I shop for my fabric at Fabric Land. I have to leave my town to get to the city. They usually have a wide variety of everything I need. From thread to velcro.
I shop for fabric at Fabric Mart Fabrics online. I was pleased with selection, prices and good customer service
I shop for small separating zippers at Zipit.etsy.com. Their customer service is great, as I’m always requesting special orders for 5" zips!
I shop for sewing at JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby. They are the only local options I have. I like their sales. I also like to see the true colors of the fabric.
I shop for fabric] at Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, Michaels and a bunch of Esty.com stores. I was pleased with prices sometimes, variety of colors and patterns.
I shop for fabric at 2 quilt shops in my area and st Joanne.the quilt shops the service is fantastic. At Joanna not a!ways so great I
Look for doll making supplies everywhere I go
For this past year I mostly shop online for fabric from places like Etsy. I’m often pleased with the customer service and quality of the items!!
I have amassed quite a large stash of fabric and supplies over the years and didn’t need to buy anything from a store during the past year. When I need something, I usually go to JoAnn’s.
I shop for my fabrics at Joann’s locally, because I like to actually feel the fabric and look at fabrics together, find complimenting pieces, etc.
I shop for fabric and notions at walmart and hobby lobby, live in a small town so theses are the 2 choices. Between the two can usually find what I need
I shop for sewing machines and supplies at Sewingmachinesplus.com. I was pleased with their customer service, technical knowledge, pricing, and more!
I shop for most of my fabrics and notions at my local quilt store, Quilt Etc. Their customer service is top notch!
I shop for sewing and crafting supplies online at Joannes and I occasionally visit their store in Flint MI… I also get many things at my local Kmart or Michael’s store… I also shop online at various websites… Amazon is one of the best… Etsy is another good one…
I shop for fabric and supplies at Hobby Lobby, Joann, and a wonderful fabric store in Fletcher NC. But mostly online because of the better chance of finding what you want
I shop for my sewing and doll supplies at Walmart, Joann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. Online I go to Home Sew and Silly Monkey. You can’t beat in person contacts but the online companies are great and ship fast. We don’t have any locally owned fabric stores here anymore but the people that work at the chain stores are locals who do a great job and care about their customers.
If I ever need something in particular for my dolls, I usually look on Etsy first, to see what’s “out there”.
I am basically a hoarder. And an old one , at that! So I do have a lot of ‘stuff’.
I love reading the suggestions in the responses here!
I love in a small town and don’t have access to any good stores for fabric or doll accessories so when I do get to a bigger city I shop JoAnns Hobby lobby and quilt stores. I also found online shopping handy this year. I shop Etsy, Ebay and Amazon. Thank You
“I shop for fabric and notions at Hobby Lobby, my local quilt store or online at various places. My local quilt store is great as far as quality and customer service, even through this pandemic. I have had no problems with quality or customer service at Hobby Lobby or online retailers either.
I shop for doll supplies mostly online. That’s the only place I can be pleased with SELECTION!
I mostly shop for fabric at Joann Fabrics – we have a large store in our area, so the selection is usually good and of course you can use coupons!
I shop at Joanns and Wal-Mart. I usually find what I am looking for.
I have not shopped anywhere locally for doll things. 😔 There is not a place near me. I am still hunting for a good place online.
I shop for fabric at joanns and online. I get the best selection that way I like to go to thrift stores and garage sales for fabric and odds and ends. Its fun and I meet great people that way.
It’s been very interesting to read the comments. I haven’t discovered very many different places to shop for fabrics or supplies for doll clothes. Pixie Faire has the best patterns and I like the advice for places to purchase notions. I have also bought extra clothing to use to make doll clothes to match outfits for granddaughters as Shirley suggested and does. Most of us have Hobby Lobby, Joann’s (when they are open!) or WalMart. Specialty Quilt Shops have lovely fabric but I have yet to find a go to online store for items. I am glad we have the opportunity to let others know where we shop! Thanks!!
I shop for sewing supplies mainly at Fabricland but also at various fabric stores and I especially like the variety.
I have found Zipper that doll” to be a good place to find doll size zippers and buckles for both belts and shoes. The quality is good, the prices are reasonable and the service excellent. Whenever I have placed an order the goods have been delivered within a few days!
I shopped on line for fabric this year due to covid. I shop for
3/4" Velcro from Pinkismart on Etsy. It ships quick, price is reasonable and you only need one roll not two. Joann, Wal-Mart, and the local thrift are great sources for fabric for doll dresses.
Normally Joann’s is my go-to for all sewing supplies. During the past year I did not sew as many doll clothes. I have a cousin who is a nurse at a VA Hospital and they were desperate for face masks. All of the fabric and craft stores were closed for two months because of pandemic restrictions. I had plenty of fabric but was in need of elastic and interfacing. I found a great supply of elastic at a fantastic price at Walmart.com. They shipped for free and delivery was very quick – 3 to 4 days. I had been able to purchase some interfacing via the Joann Fabrics website which was mailed to me and once they reopened for curbside pickup I was able to purchase everything I needed that way. They were a lifesaver! Now that I am back to sewing doll clothes, Joann’s is still my go-to.
“I shop for just about anything I need for Dolly sewing in the sewing rooms of my Fellow local sewing and craft enthusiasts. We have a group of lovely gals that gather at our local library once a week, until covid-19 brought that to a screeching halt. But we stay in touch online, and anytime I am in need of some small bit or bob, I send out an request on our Facebook group and someone always comes to the rescue! I can rely on these lovely ladies to leave a little ziplock bag of love at my doorstep. Several of my quilting friends decided to clean their sewing rooms in the past several months , and left their small pieces of fabric at my door for my dollies and me ! You can’t have any better customer service than a group of devoted friends looking out for each other . I encourage everyone to start a group at their own library and enjoy!
I shop for sewing and doll supplies at Joann fabrics. I was pleased with the police uniform seeing pattern.
I shop at Joann’s for my fabric and notions. For patterns I shop at Missouri Star Quilt Co.
I shop for fabric at JoAnn’s. I was pleased with the selection they had. Thanks for the giveaways!
I currently shop for fabric and supplies online. I Quilt and make doll clothes for my granddaughter’s 18" dolls. Over the years, I have come to know which are the best name brands. I’ve done a lot of ordering on eBay as most of the Sells are very nice, the shipping is fast and there are no problems with returns.
I shop for many sewing and doll supplies at Walmart, on-line, and ESTY because I am in the middle of a Cabbage Patch doll project that I started awhile ago to restore the Cabbage Patch dolls that I have and then bring them to nearby Children’s Hospitals so the kids won’t feel all alone while in the hospital. I have MANY dolls to do and I am so excited to do this for the kids. I do this all on my own expense.
I was pleased with shopping and finding many of my dolls and I enjoy my project and look forward to the day they can be given to many of the children who feel all alone in the hospitals. This is MY DREAM COME TRUE. I us Pixie Faire and many of the doll tips in your sewing articles. Thank you so very much.

I shop for fabric online through Etsy now, as our two owners of the fabric shop retired and closed last year in our town. We live 2 hours from any fabric stores .. But .. my sister has her blackbelt in shopping, so she finds great deals on beautiful remnants of fabric and sends them to me.
I shop for fabric at my favorite fabric shop.. I was pleased with the variety and quality.
I shop for fabric and models (18” dolls) at Walmart and I was pleased with customer service and low prices😁
I shop for fabric and models (18” dolls) at Walmart and I was pleased with customer service and low prices😁
I shop for [insert sewing or doll supplies in my oversized stash. When I need to purchase something I like all the fabric stores in my area. I like to touch and see things I’m buying rather than guess about things online.
“I shop for sewing supplies on-line at WAWAC and Home Sew. I was pleased with both company’s personal replies to questions about my orders. Plus buying in bulk reduces packaging, which is important to me.
“I shop for fabric at The Fabric Fairy, Joann’s, The sewing studio fabric store plus others. I was pleased with the quaility, customer service, and prices."
I shop for fabric and notions generally at Joann’s but have also found many small notions and trims at Hobby Lobby and purchased fabric from Etsy.
It’s often difficult for me to get out to shop anywhere even before the pandemic hit. I am on a severely limited disability pension, so I’m always having to scrimp and save to buy even the least expensive items. I find thrift stores often will carry old clothing that I can use to turn into pretty doll sized outfits. Since I’m only sewing for myself (I don’t sew for selling), I don’t need to find a lot of the same materials, so my costs are lower than most. I’ve also been gifted some material from other folks who sew, and I help out at various local markets to earn a few special trinkets and notions that are for sale.
I shop for fabric and notions at JoAnn Fabrics. I was pleased with their customer service and the quality of their goods.
I shop for fabric at Hobby Lobby and am pleased with the seasonal selection.
I shop for buttons, elastic and interfacing at HomeSew.com, where they have a great selection and even better prices.
Pixie Faire has allowed me the opportunity to supply my granddaughters clothes for their American Girls and Wellie Wishers/Glitter Girls! Saves hours of internet searches. Now to try the furniture and accessories.
I shop for sewing supplies at JoAnn’s. I was pleased with the availability of the satellite store of Bob McDougle for special attachments and tools that fit my Husquevarna Viking sewing machine.
I shop at local quilt stores, online, JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. I try to help the independent owners…especially now. The quilt stores have great quality fabric.
Hello,
I used to shop for fabrics at Jo-Ann, but right now, with the pandemic, my fabrics are from Etsy. I am pleased with the fast shipping.
Thank you."
I shop at Pixie Fair for American Doll pattern. I have bought patterns from other places and the do not fit!
“I shop for sewing supplies at Jo Ann’s, Hobby Lobby and Micheal’s. I am pleased with the quality, customer service, and stock that they carry.
I shop for fabrics and notions at Hobby Lobby and Walmart. I like Hobby Lobby’s selection of fabrics and the occasional 50% off on notions and trims. Walmart has a fair selection of fabrics at reasonable prices, however it is sometimes difficult to find someone to cut fabric!!
I shop for doll-scale laces and trim at Hobby Lobby. Even their scrapbooking section inspires me!
For the last 10 months when I needed something I have shopped at our small local Joanns store and have used their online ordering with curbside pickup. It is a wonderful service for customers who don’t want to go inside the store. Independent stores or larger stores are at least 1 hour drive away and will have to wait until things improve. I greatly appreciate shopping online at Pixie Faire for patterns, and for the inspiration from fellow sewists with SWC.
I shop for most of my sewing supplies at Farmhouse Fabrics onBeech Island , SC online. Their quality and customer service are top notch!
I shop for fabric at my local sewing store. I was pleased with the bargain bin table as fabric in Canada is really expensive]"
I haven’t been shopping much lately, but when I do I usually shop online at various places.
