Get to know Shari Fuller... Shari has two pattern collections on Pixie Faire, Thimbles and Acorns, her original brand - and after years of collaborating with designer Eve Coleman on the Keepers Dolly Duds Designs brand, Shari is now the owner of that brand too. Each brand brings a unique look to historical designs in a beautifully detailed way.
More About Shari (in her own words): My grandma gave me my first sewing lesson when I was about eight years old. I had been fascinated with her sewing for as long as I could remember and was so excited when she gave me a doll pattern and sent me to her sewing closet to pick out just the right fabric for my first project. Sewing was a way for me to connect with my grandma, and although she may not have realized it at the time, this gift she gave me helped me become a better student. History became more exciting as I became captivated by the dynamic fashions through the ages. This is what Thimbles and Acorns is all about; building relationships and encouraging learning. In November of 2011, I wrote my first pattern. Eve was the first one to take me up on the offer to test it. We quickly struck up a friendship and before long we were collaborating in our pattern making journey. Working with Eve these past seven years has been a privilege and a delight and I am honored to be able to bring Keepers Dolly Duds Designs to Pixie Faire!
Inquiring Minds Want To Know...
Q: What's your favorite food?
Shari: Just about every day I like to have a Granny Smith Apple with peanut butter and chocolate chips... It's the ultimate one-dish meal. The peanut butter and apple make a great healthy lunch (it's homemade peanut butter by the way) and the chocolate chips are a built in dessert. My absolute favorite food is homemade pizza... because it is pure romance. My husband and I have been making it every Friday since we started dating... 34 years ago! It's become a Fuller Family tradition.
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Shari: Return to Me. My husband and I tend to sing through the whole movie because it has great background music and the story brings out the romance.
Q: Coffee or Tea??
Shari: Water... I drink a lot of water. Hot water in my favorite mug in the winter helps keep me warm and cold water in my favorite water bottle keeps me refreshed in the summer.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Shari: Walmart, it's convenient (because I'm not particularly fond of shopping) AND my daughter works there so most everyone there knows me as "Jackie's Mom"... and treat me like a celebrity.
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Shari: Thimbles and Acorns was inspired by my daughter who became infatuated with the story of Peter Pan when she was three years old. The thimble and acorn were the "kisses" that Peter and Wendy exchanged.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Shari: A tour of Israel and Egypt.
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Shari for giving away such a cute outfit!
Thanks everyone,
The Pixie Faire Team
The prairie one is sooo cute! What a lovely pattern and thanks for sharing the prototypes!
You’re asking a libra here. I can’t make a decision between two darling dresses for the Walkie Wisher. Love the idea of time travel in play time. Thanks for the contest!!
The historic outfit is my choice.
Thank you for the giveaway! This is an interesting new format – I like the idea of comparing clothing rather than rating which doll “looks better”. Both outfits are very cute (I love the mary jane shoes with the modern look!) but I like the historical version best. It would be fun to make the historical one for my Wellie so she could pretend to be my old Kirsten doll’s little sister!
I like the prairie dress. Take me back to when my daughter was little and played with her holly hobby doll. Thanks for the contests and freebies.
I like the “Modern Schoolgirl” best, although both are cute.
The Prairie Girl outfit is the cutest!
I love the Prairie Girl outfit. So Cute!
I love the historical outfit.
Loce the Prairie girl one. So cute.
BLUE ONE!
I like the Historical one best. Thank you Shari for the beautiful creations.
The school girl pink outfit! Thank you!
Thank you, Shari & Cinnamon, for a chance to win this cute outfit. I vote for the Prairie Rose historical dress.
I vote for the blue one, i like the historical look and yhe cute apron;
I like the blue outfit the best.
The pink one looks best! Thank you!
I really like the Prairie Girl look.
Thanks, Shari! I prefer the pink one.
I vote for the Prairie dress and apron. I don’t have any patterns for that time period for my Wellie Wisher…I do have its the modern style. Thanks for the opportunity to win the dress!!!
The Prairie girl has my vote! Thanks for the great giveaway. My granddaughter would love this!
I love them both, but the pink school girl has my vote!
Prairie Girl has my vote!!
I love the prairie outfit. They are both gorgeous though.
I love the historical outfit Shari although both are really cute! Good job sweetie!
I love the pink school girl outfit
I just bought this pattern (in the Wellie size, too!) a month ago for the historical Prarie Girl pattern. I love historical clothing! But particularly, I live in Utah and every July to celebrate the anniversary of statehood, there is a holiday called Pioneer Day. My 18 inch dolls have outfits—I even bought (and made!) Shari’s civil war shirt pattern fro my Logan doll to celebrate. Now my Wellie needs a dress. At least I have until July to make it! (BTW, I’d love to know where you got the shoes for these!)
I like the Historica lParie Girl style . But it is a very hard choice.
Thanks Shari! They both look so cute, but I’m gonna have to go with the prairie outfit!
Love the school girl best!
Love both but voted for the modern one.
It’s so great you do this every week. Thanks for being so generous.
I love them both, but I voted for the prairie dress. The history lover in me can’t resist it. Thanks so much Shari!
I love the historical outfit Shari although both are really cute! Good job sweetie!
I love the Prairie Girl!!
Prairie Girl dress has my vote
Thanks Shari :) I love everything you do, and everything you and Eve do together – we are so lucky to have patterns from both of you – so much talent. I love both dresses, but always prefer historical.
The Prairie dress reminds me of second grade when we had a Thanksgiving feast at school and my neighbor Rosie and my mom made me a Pilgrim dress with the bonnet and apron. This pattern brings back that wonder memory; so my vote is for the Prairie dress. Thank you : )
Thanks for the opportunity to vote and be entered into a chance of winning these amazing outfits. Thank you for your generosity. I voted for the prairie dress.
I love the prairie girl outfit
Thanks Shari! I love the prairie dress. ❤️❤️
While I love both outfits, the “Prairie Girl” outfit is my favorite. The contrast with the apron, brings out the colors in the dress.
Hi… I chose the modern era dress, though they’re both so cute.
Thank you, Shari, for your great designs.
Thanks Shari for great outfits! I prefer the historical one but that is the historian in me coming out. I have a feeling my kids would prefer the shorter one because of the prettier fabric.
Both are adorable! Love the modern design. Reminds me of my granddaughter.
No fair having to choose but since we must….. School Girl it is.
Love the pink print and design on the modern version a wee bit more.
Thanks Shari!
The Modern “School Girl” Outfit is my favorite! Love them both. So glad to see Keepers Dolly Duds come to Pixie Faire. Thanks
Got to make time to get to Israel. I went last February and it was the trip of a lifetime. It was beyond amazing!
I like the historical version. For a few years now I’ve been collecting historical clothing, patterns and dolls. I’m using these as gifts to teach my grandchildren about their bold and sacrificing ancestors. For example, this past year I was able to source and verify one of the original Pilgrims, Richard Warren, is my ancestor. His wife, Elizabeth (Walker) Warren, arrived a few years later with their daughters. We descend from Nathaniel Warren, one of the two sons born in North America shortly before Richard Warren’s death. I’m so excited these historical doll costumes will help my grandchildren appreciate their rich heritage. The Prairie dress will do nicely for another ancestor, Lydia Ann Hobson, who crossed the plains as a child. Even my grandsons want Great-Grandfather dolls to display on their bedroom shelves. Thanks, Shari!! (Now, if only the cracked rib from last year’s fall will get on the stick and heal properly, I can get back to sewing patterns like Shari Fuller’s and Eve Coleman’s awesome historical patterns. If not, I’ll have to purchase completed outfits.)
Thank you for your kind offer. Love the Prairie girl outfit.
Liking the historical dress as it lets little ones be more creative.
I love the The Historical “Prairie Girl” Outfit!!!!!!!
Chose the modern one but both are great!!
I love both outfits but I would have to choose the historical one because I like the color and long sleeves.
I voted for the prairie dress. Both are darling!
I like both…I voted for the rose pink one.
It was hard to choose — they are both so cute! I voted for the old fashioned one with the apron. I would love to see the modern style in a less busy print.
I love both outfits but I think I would make the dress in a plain fabric so you can see the detailing more clearly. it is hard to see the collar and the gathering on the top with all the fussiness of the flower fabric.
Thank you Shari , so cute! I like the historical best!
i love the Prairie dress best
I love both of the outfits, but my favorite is the Prairie Girl style. Thank you, Shari, for this giveaway and for creating such darling patterns!! ❣
They are both so adorable. Hard to choose between them. But, chose the prairie outfit. However the modern one had the pink. Many little girls would treasure the pink.
nice outfits love them both
Hard to choose so I have to go with the one that first caught my eye.
I like the school girl best
My Willa would love either of those dresses, but I voted for the modern school girl, since she is a modern girl!
I like the Prairie Rose dress best!
Such a difficult choice ! I love period clothes but this time I am drawn to the modern one. Just love the colors. Thank You.
Thanks for providing this lovely giveaway. I like the prairie outfit best as it reminds me of when my sister and I were studying the Prairie Primer and reading about Laura and her family.
Thank you! I love the Prairie girl outfit best.
I love both the styles of this pattern but blue is my favorite color and I love it best for the dress. Thank you, Sheri and Cinnamon, for this great contest.
I like the Prairie Girl outfit best. Thank you for the giveaway!
I prefer the Prairie Girl outfit. Perhaps it’s the contrasting apron that makes it stand out more to me.
I prefer the modern outfit. Pretty colors!
Thank you for the nice giveaway. I really had a hard time choosing, both are nice.
It is difficult to choose between the two dresses but I prefer the prairie girl. She is so cute and I like Shari’ patterns so much. It is so simple and historical in the same time.
Thank you very much to offer us so beautiful dress and excuse me for my mistakes because I am Belgian and my mother’s language is French.
I hope to have one day a American Girl because I like the dolls so much…
I love the Prairie Girl look
Thank you to Shari for this adorable pattern! My first instinct was that the historical look with the apron was better. But I also love the modern version and I can imagine making many dresses from this pattern in different fabrics! But I have decided that I like the Prairie style best.
School Girl is my favorite
Blue is my favorite color so I bet you can guess which outfit I picked!
I like the historic outfit :-)
I voted for the modern outfit. I prefer modern clothes to period ones.
I like the historic outfit, best
I like the historic outfit, best
So adorable!
I’ve always loved the Pioneer era and sewing these patterns has been a delight! I love getting to know more about the designers who take time to make up such great outfits! Thanks for all you do!!
I like the pink dress most. Both are loved though!
Both dresses are equally cute. Having said that, I am gravitating towards the prairie dress as I am a fan of historical sewing. Just my personal preference.
Both are very cute, I like the modern dress a little bit more.
The modern day look is really cute – the fabric is super cute on that style! Thank you for your generosity!
I love them both ,but if I had to choose I think I would choose the historical one.
I like both dresses but voted for the prairie girl dress. I guess I have a thing for historic style dresses. Thanks Shari.
Thank you Shari. Both dresses are really cute, but I love the blue one with the apron.
I voted for the historical outfit, it’s just too cute!
I love the little house on the prairie look. It just makes me smile.
These are really cute outfits!
