Get To Know Karen (In Her Own Words)

"I've always loved dolls, and anything that involved color and design. My tenth birthday present from my mother was an honest-to-goodness sewing basket filled to the brim with supplies, and a Barbie pattern. I was in heaven! I sewed throughout my high school years, and then began again when my great nieces received American Girl dolls. My then teenage sons were horrified that their mother was playing with dolls!

During that time I also discovered Liberty Jane patterns. Wow – stylish, detailed patterns for dolls with fantastic instructions and a beautiful fit. Before I realized what was happening I was designing my own patterns. I now have a granddaughter who wanted to dress up like a doll I brought to her, so the joy of dolls continues in my family – both real and vinyl. The need to create has also continued. I've branched out into landscape painting and am enjoying painting on location in Southern California, which is an equal amount of challenge and joy. In summary, partnering with Pixie Faire as a seller and designer has been a fun adventure. I'm grateful to those of you who have become customers and friends along the way."

Inquiring Minds Want To Know:

Q: What inspired your brand name?
A certain trendy clothing brand that caters to the young (and thin!).

Q: What’s your favorite sewing tip?
When in doubt, baste.

Q: Is there a new hobby, craft, or skill you’d like to learn?
Right now I'm working on improving my painting skills.

Q: Who is your favorite doll?
My favorite dolls are the European ones because of their high quality and beautiful face sculpts. If they have more than five joints, even better.

Q: What’s your favorite flower or plant?
David Austin roses – I am besotted. I also planted some Dahlia tubers for the first time and am crossing my fingers.

Forever 18" is a wonderful name for a great sized doll pattern. I have sewn and made my own dolls and doll patterns since I was 6 years old. I learned to crochet for them ,too. I enjoy the 18’’ ones the most as I can embellish these easily, and love to display my results in my front dormer windows, as the months and seasons change. My children understand this, but the adult Grandchildren not so much, but wait until the have little ones of their own! Your patterns are delightful, and I love looking forward to Friday surprises. This sundress is a nice adhesion, Thank you!

The flirty mint skirts are my favorite, but all the patterns are very cute! My daughter was an 80’s baby, and her daughter is fascinated by that period. She would love to dress her AG doll in one of these little skirts!

Forever 18 inches (such a cool brand name!) has a lot of lovely patterns. I really like the Versatility dress… and the Nautical tops… and all her vintage inspired designs.

However, this morning, I’ve been searching for the 14 inches version of the button front sundress you talk about in this article and I can’t find it. Is it called something else?

I love her patterns. They are easy to follow and so so adorable. I have several of her F18 patterns and it is hard to pick a favorite but I do love the Skirts with Pockets Bundle and I love the Twelve-Month Tie Blouse. Most of her patterns will bring you back to that era of clothing trends and that is what I love the most.

I am new to sewing and also knitting 18 inch doll clothes. Looking at your patterns I love to see the little girl dresses. Every day dresses, Party dresses. Formal dresses and wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses. I look forward to sewing some soon. I would also love to see Boys clothes. Maybe a three piece suit, casual pants and jackets, military uniforms, formal wear and wedding attire.

I love the Forever 18 designs and have purchased many of them over the last several years. Hard to say what I’d my favorite but I think one that stands out is the campaign jacket. So far my favorite is the “Not For Knits Tee Shirt” I have a friend who is moving away and she loves her Ruby Red Fashion Friend. I just got mine. I think from time to time my doll will send her doll a cat themed tee shirt. We will probably use fusible applique to decorate the tee shirts, one for her doll and one for mine, with seasonal cat designs. That way my friend and her doll will know that they are not alone. OH, I like the fireplace too.
