Do you use a basic standard machine or one with all the bells and whistles? What about a serger, are you using one of those? (or wondering what in the world I’m talking about!)

To enter the giveaway simply respond to this post in the comment box below and complete this sentence:

"I use a  [insert sewing machine type here]… The thing I like most about it is [tell us why]"

Comments must be left (on this blog post) by midnight (pacific) 12/29/2017.

One entry per person.

No purchase necessary, void where prohibited.

The winner will be chosen randomly from the comments received and contacted through the email provided in the comment.

We will choose a winner and modify this post tomorrow to let everyone know who won.

Okay, good luck, and if we’ve forgotten anything we will modify and/or update this post as needed.

Happy Holidays!

I use three Bernina machines, including my new B880+. It joins my Virtuosa 155 and my Bernina serger. I have been using Berninas for about 15 years and what I enjoy most about them is that they are quality machines that provide reliable, consistently beautiful results year after year. They have been totally worth the investment.

I have several machines but my favorite is my “vintage” Kenmore sewing machine. It is just a sturdy workhorse and although it does not have any fancy stitches whatsoever, it sews like a champ. My newer machines have trouble with thicker layers and I have issues with the tension. It’s my “go to” sewing machine when I just want to get the job done.

I use several sewing machines. My favorite is the 1980ish Singer that my mom bought me when I was 14. It sews through tough fabrics and I rarely have tension problems. For decorative stuff, I sew with a newer machine, a brother NQ 700. I am still getting used to it. For serging, I love my 1987 White serger. I bought a newer Singer serger when I gave my old one to my daughter and have regretted it ever since. The newer one is not the quality of my White (my daughter is in heaven now and felt so bad, she found a duplicate White on Ebay for me and gave it to me for Christmas last year!!!)

I use an Alco Necchi sewing machne circa 1970. The thing I like most about it is that it is like an old friend and very familiar. When I first bought it, I sewed ALL the time, for both of my nieces and myself. I had to put it on lay away in order to afford it. Then I started working in earnest, and raising a family; now that I am retired (45 years later) I am making doll clothes for my granddaughters, great granddaughters and great nieces. Although it doesn’t do a lot of fancy stitches, or seam finishes, like I said it is an old friend. I can’t see giving it up.

I have several sewing machines and a serger that I use for different purposes. This question is like which of your children do you love the most. That said I think my Pfaff 7570 is the work horse because it embroiders and sews. Its sibling the 6122 “jeans and satin” is a good utility tool. My White, solid metal parts and all, is over 50 and still works like a charm. My singer featherweight and serger are commonly used in clothing production and repairs. All of them have their uses in making doll clothes, sometimes I use more than one .
