My favorite sewing tip is to use marking pens that either dissolve when ironed or exposed to air/water in a couple days. They are life savers when marking doll clothes!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to whipstitch anything tiny or fiddly by hand. I learned this years ago from someone who used to make the tiniest doll clothes and it’s always worked!
My favorite sewing tip is to wash and iron my fabric before using.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is…to keep a magnet attached to the sewing machine so you can use it to pick up any dropped pins.
Self threading needles for hand work now that I’m older and don’t see as well as I used to.
My favorite tip is to press frequently, use a 1/4 inch foot, and clean and oil your machine often.
My favorite sewing tip is to iron everything before you start your project and iron with every step. Your iron is your friend and makes your project look so much nicer.
My favorite sewing tip is to finish all of the edges of every pattern piece before I start sewing. With 1/4" doll clothes seams, this is critical to avoid unraveling as the garment is made, and later, as it is taken on or off a doll. (I would not do this, of course, when using a fabric that did not unravel.) This can be done with a serger or a simple zigzag stitch. It also eliminates bulk in hemmed sections of the garment, as the fabric can be folded only once and stitched by machine or hand.
My favorite sewing tip is to have a cassette player in the sewing room and listen to audiobooks.
My favorite sewing tip is prewash your fabrics
Using baby clothes to get better print proportions for doll clothes.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to make only one of each pattern I have before making a repeat of the same pattern. I have learned so many different techniques from each of the designers on Pixie Faire.
My favorite sewing tip is using pattern paper from other patterns that have no print on them. Amazing what you can find on another pattern.
My favorite sewing tip is to always use spray starch and iron every little piece of fabric and always iron each seam I sew.
My favorite tip is to recycle used clothing into fun doll clothes.
My favorite sewing tip is… I never used to read the instructions before I started a project and I would always get frustrated when it took me hours to get it right. Now I read the instructions before starting my project and it really works, and to iron, iron, iron as you go. Makes seams look great and perfect. I love my new sewing tips.
My favorite sewing tip is… I never used to read the instructions before I started a project and I would always get frustrated when it took me hours to get it right. Now I read the instructions before starting my project and it really works, and to iron, iron, iron as you go. Makes seams look great and perfect. I love my new sewing tips.
My favorite tips came from my grandmother who taught me how to see when I was 9 and I’ve always used them 61 years later. Measure twice before cutting, iron during each step especially if it’s something small and recycle clothing to make new clothing though I refuse to cut up vintage clothing or lace.
My favorite sewing tip is to iron frequently!!
My favorite sewing tip is to keep the machine clean! It is sometimes such a hassle to take it apart and put it back together, but doing so after each project will keep it working effortlessly. Sometime just a little tiny piece of thread or lint caught in the bobbin race can mess things up!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use washable school glue stick to temporarily hold small items in place until tacked or stitched. Washes out when laundered.
The use of a magnetic seam guide help me keep seams even and straight.
My favorite sewing tip is to always use the iron. Never say… oh, this seam will be ok
My favorite sewing tip or trick is enjoying what you sew and having fun because then the projects turn out perfect. I have found that when I sew stressed I make more mistakes and become even more stressed.
My favourite tip is to use the right needle for the fabric. It can make a huge difference to the look and finish!
My favorite tip is to always iron! When I first started sewing I was often lazy and would skip this step. Big mistake! Pressing as you go makes a huge difference!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use old clothing for making doll clothes.
My tip is to hand stitch the seam to the hem toward the back of the garment. Do this on the both the sleeve and pant leg. Only takes a minute but looks so much nicer!
My favorite tip or trick is to use Pixie Faire to get great clothing and shoe patterns for your 18 inch doll.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is…I always had a hard time hemming with spandex. Read about using a zigzag small stitch and stretching the fabric as I go instead of a traditional hem…now it is my FAVORITE way to hem and I love the look!!!
My favourite trick is to serge all the seams before sewing them. It saves me a lot of time and looks very professional.
Have fun! It doesn’t need to be perfect!
My favorite sewing tip is that to turn a corner seam out, to get the perfect sharp corner, once turned, before turning, fold each side along the seam line and pinch it down. Hold the folded sides down as you turn. Once turned inside out, you get a perfectly square corner.
My favorite tip is to press seams but also don’t wait until the last minute to try to sew gifts. Everything will go wrong.
So much great advice. My favorite tip is to hold onto the ends of my thread as I begin to sew a seam. I helps feed your fabric through without it getting bunched up and drawn under the plate.
My favorite sewing tip is about gathers… they can be such monsters… but mark off into 1/4’s and use a safety pin there… if it is yards and yards of gathers, mark off again into 1/8’s. Use a safety pin again. those keep the whole thing stable. then just pull gathers and machine
My favorite tip or trick is to recycle fabric, trim, buttons from thrift shop finds.
Shop local Goodwill store for brand new t-shirts. Look for xxxl size to get more knit fabric. Watch tag color for half price deals. All colors available. Then use leftover scraps to “mop up” errant threads around your machine area.
My favorite trick is to use the right sewing needle for the project I’m working on!
My most useful trick is to use freezer paper for transferring patterns to fabric. Temporarily fusing it to fabric and cutting around it is so helpful with napped fabric and small fabric pieces.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to always iron and press well as the garment progresses!
My favourite tip is to always use an iron as you sew. It makes everything look better and makes it easier to match up seams.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use old clothes for fabric. I make some really unique and cute doll clothes. Many times they sell faster than doll clothes made from new fabric. I am always sure to state the item is made from recycled fabric in the listing.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is when sewing a finished edge such as a pillowcase or a curtain, where you have a pocket of fabric for your hem, fold a little over first and sew a hem close to the edge, then turn the whole project inside-out and sew the hem, then turn it right-side-out again. That way, you’ve concealed the stitching and raw edge inside the project.
My favourite tip is to measure twice & check it’s right before sewing, nothing worse than having to unpick, especially when it’s a large row of stitching.
Use google translate lol im Dutch and need sometimes help with English words i don’t understand
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to take notes of changes, fabric results, alterations, or anything else you might want to refer to at a later date. This will come in handy should you want to make the pattern again.

Use dental floss to sew on buttons, it’s much stronger than thread!
my favorite tip is to make sure you have all the items you need before you begin sewing.
My favorite sewing tip/trick is to always read all the instructions prior to stating a project and press, press, press!
My favorite sewing trick is to always read pattern through first.
My favorite trick is to cut in advance 2-3 items today and then sew like mad tomorrow, makes me feel like i’m making a difference because i’ve already started and sewing is the finish line
Reuse child’s old clothes for doll clothing.
My favorite sewing tip is to recycle clothes into doll clothes.
My favorite sewing tip is lay out all pattern pieces before pinning and cutting.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to ALWAYS measure twice (or thrice) and cut once! I have learned this the hard way!
I love how there seems to be a new pattern each month for use to sew with.
My favorite sewing tip is do not forget to clip or fade your seams, especially on these tiny clothes.
My favorite sewing tip is to pin it all. Pin from end to end, especially when making sleeves. If there‘s a gap, place a pin. Keep it secure while sewing.
My favorite sewing tip is to iron iron iron.
my favorite sewing tip is to have all the pattern pieces ready and then sew easy, no hurry and read the instructions or watch an instruction video if neccessary.
I’m inexperienced enough not to have many tricks, but one thing that I have found that helps tremendously is to press, press, press. Wow! What a difference that makes.
My favorite sewing tip. If you are not happy with the way a seam was sewn, then take the time to rip it out and redo it. You’ll be happier with the results if you take the time to rip out something you are unhappy with rather than continuing on and then being unhappy with the finished results.
Not really a trick or too but something I have to remind myself of is to slow down!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is…always have a really good light source when sewing – either with hand sewing or on the machine. It is so easy to make mistakes when you can’t see properly!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use the dolls foot when making glueing top of shoe to sole you get a better fit.
My favourite sewing is to use the best quality thread and fabric you can and change your sewing needle often.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to finish all seams and iron.
My favorite tip is that not all 18 inch dolls are created equal. Measure your doll to ensure that your pattern will fit.
My tip is to print my pattern on freezer paper then iron the pieces on your fabric with a low setting. The pattern pieces can be used over and over this way.
I like to use ‘wrapped corners’, Sew the first side of a corner that is going to turn, Now fold the next side on the sewn line, sew the second side. Trim the ’dog ear corner diagonally. Fold on the second side and turn to the right side. Makes a great turned corner.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to iron after every sewing step in order to produce better results.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use magic tape instead of pins when putting in a zipper.
My favorite sewing tip is to use fishing linev(monofilament) and a zig zag stitch for gathering ruffles
My favorite tip or trick is to take a good scissor only for fabric…..never to cut paper or something else.
My favorite tip or trick is clipping corners to get a tighter, crisper corner when fabric is turned. :o)
My favorite sewing trick is to use fold over elastic on knits at neckline
My favorite sewing tip is to make sure you have all of your fabric, thread and other notions before you start. There have been many times I would start a project and not have enough items to finish it.
my favourite sewing tip to trick is to measure twice cut once.
My favorite sewing trick is using Wonder tape instead of pins.
My favorite sewing tip and trick is using clips instead of pins. Also always, always take the time to press seams
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to take sewing lessons and practice each new skill 3 or more times or risk forgetting how you did it. Practice practice practice
My fav sewing tip is…take your time and on’t rush when sewing small projects :)
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to keep a set of hair straighteners by your sewing table.
They’re perfect for doll hems, seams, etc because they need no set up (no getting out the ironing board or anything), they heat up and cool down quickly and they’re very small so can get into places a regular iron can’t and you probably already have them in the house unlike a mini iron.
My favourite tip is using clips rather than pins. X
My favorite sewing tip or trick is on pinning, when working with loose weave fabrics is to take two small bites of the fabric with the pin, not just one.. I find this keeps the pins in place and less likely to slip out, especially helpful when using the silk pins on the fine fabrics.

My favorite sewing tip is to iron as you go along with a little bit of spray starch.
