One of my most favorite cookie recipes is Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies. They are a simple flour cookie with a yummy raspberry center. I’ve never seen anything quite like them offered by doll companies, so I decided to make my own! They are another easy craft, but very good looking when done. I made some extras this year for my dolls’ Valentine’s Day party! And as a surprise bonus after the tutorial, I’ve given you my recipe to make your own edible cookies for people!
But first! This week we have a super fun GIVEAWAY for a $50 Pixie Fiare gift card! Scroll down to the bottom of the post to see how to enter today!
Supplies:
Step 1: I began by mixing two parts white clay with one part light brown clay to get my desired color. If you can find a color that doesn’t need mixing go ahead and just use that. Either way, go ahead and knead the clay a bit so that it is soft and easy to shape.
Step 2: Now you are going to separate your clay into little balls. Mine were about half an inch to ¾ inch big or so. It really doesn’t have to be exact. Roll your clay in your hands to make a nice smooth round shape.
Step 3: Now you are going to make the thumbprint part! If you have a child helping you, it would be totally fun to get her doll and use the doll’s thumb to make an imprint in the cookie. I ended up using my pinkie finger as this is a bit quicker, and it does make a nice well shape in the clay.
Step 4: Arrange your “cookies” on your cookie sheet lined in aluminum foil, and bake according to the clay’s package instructions.
Step 5: After your cookies are baked and cooled completely, we are going to paint the inside of the cookie wells with the raspberry colored craft paint. I always dip my brush in water first, then dab on a paper towel when using acrylic craft paints. They are so much easier to paint with when you do this! After the first coat dried completely, I did a second coat of my raspberry colored paint.
Step 6: Once the raspberry paint has dried completely, we are going to paint on our sugar glaze drizzle. I used the white paint and dipped my thinnest brush in the water again before I painted. I did a simple back and forth design, but you could also do a crosshatch design, or even no glaze at all! I like how the cookies look all three ways. Have fun with it!
Once the paint is completely dry, you can serve them to your dolls during your Valentine’s Day party! (My dolls like these as an everyday snack as well. ☺ )

Want to make some real Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies to really eat? Here is my favorite recipe:
Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies (for humans)
Ingredients:
Step 1: Turn oven on to 350°F
Step 2: Spoon jelly into a small bowl and stir until smooth. Set aside.
Step 3: In a large bowl, using a wooden spoon, blend together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and blend until a dough is formed.
Step 5: Pinch off bits of dough and roll into 1 inch balls. Put on a baking sheet 1 inch apart. Press finger or thumb into dough to make a little “well”. Fill each well with ¼ tsp. jelly.
Step 6: Bake about 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool. Jelly will be very hot. Cool completely before serving or adding glaze.
Step 7: Mix the powdered sugar with enough milk to make a drizzle consistency. Add a few drops vanilla if you like. Then drizzle on your cookies!

Neither, I prefer to have my husband company over any gift. But if I am going to have his company and a gift, I would prefer flowers. Can’t it be a crafting tool that I could use for months or years to come.
I prefer candy because flowers die quickly and candy you can share and make others happy too.
Though I love chocolate I’d have to pick flowers!
I prefer flowers that are complete with the shrub or bulb. The real gift is when the giver actually plants the roots in the ground. With a little work and a little luck, the gift can be enjoyed for years to come. i can’t believe I chose flowers because I really love chocolate!
I love flowers. This year, LEGO came out with a flower bouquet and I hope my husband gets it for me!
Candy for sure!
Well I have to say candy as I am allergic to flowers, although a green house plant is always nice.
I personally like candy. A big ole box of good quality chocolates.
I love both but flowers die and chocolate lasts forever (on your hips).
Yum! Chocolate wins!
Chocolate candy. But I usually get both.
Chocolate candy. But I usually get both.
I love chocolate and the smell of fresh flowers. Very hard choice. The fresh cut flowers die so quickly. The chocolate will be good for 6 months. I love good chocolate with caramel and nuts. Chocolate wins!
For dolls it’s definitely candy.
LOVE making these treats. Made a bakery -candy store a couple of years for my grand niece. Had a variety of chocolate covered creams, chocolate dipped strawberries, lollipops, several ‘flavors’ of candy cane, wrapped chocolate kisses, chocolate mints.
All that in addition to a variety of ‘artisan’ breads, buns, sweet rolls, cookies, pies and cakes. The fact that they are completely calorie free since they are made from polymer clay is simply a bonus!
Dark chocolate drizzled over the ‘thumb print’ cookies…and I usually buy flowers/plant for myself 💝🌸🌺🌷 Thank you for the “sweet” instructions too!
Flowers please!
I like candy, and I like flowers… so hard to choose between the two. Plus there are a few variables that make one a better option over the other. Since I’m not as much a sweet tooth as some, my candies & chocolates last a while (I still have Halloween candy even now as I type lol). Flowers, while pretty don’t last that long… unless they are on a rooted plant in a pot, then they will re-bloom at a later time. I think my favourite option is a plant that will keep on growing & blooming to brighten up my window, and have a bit of an edible treat at a later time :)
Flowers are my favorite!
Well, my husband always buys chocolate for Valentine’s Day, and every other holiday too. He’s a practical kind of guy. We enjoy it together. Yum! — But in my secret heart, I’ve always dreamed of the idea of receiving flowers. They are just so happy and beautiful, and the smell of fresh flowers for this holiday and for Easter always make me smile. I enjoy walking slowly through the flower department at the grocery store to sniff and appreciate each delicate bloom. There’s just something about the enhanced aroma of bulb flowers, and their colors are so vibrant and cheerful. I love them so much! Heavenly!
Love the flowers. So cute!
I would prefer chocolate because I have a real sweet tooth but I am on a diet, so I think the flowers were do perfectly.
Flowers would be lovely!
C H O C O L A T E !!!
FLOWERS ! FLOWERS !!
Chocolate covered peanut m and m and chocolate panda paws ice cream

Good chocolate. While I love flowers they don’t last long.
Flowers, Beautiful and no calories!
Never heard of it before, but I think a bouquet of flowers tied with strawberry Twizzlers , would be delightful….
I have such a sweet tooth, so its candy.
Candy please
Flowers are best since I am allergic to chocolate.
I love them both, but I think flowers would be best because they would last longer. I would eat the candy right away.
I love candy but prefer flowers, specially if they are those colorful that will last more
I love fresh flowers – they are my absolute favorite!
Flowers… potted miniature roses!
I choose candy over dead flowers, but living flowers over candy.
I love both, but I’m especially partial to roses!
Flowers with a scent would be lovely right about now. Wind chill is in the -30s today with a winter storm warning. I would really like spring sooner than the groundhog is predicting
Flowers! You can press them and keep them as a remembrance of the person who gave them to you.
“Which gift is best – Candy or Flowers?” I like both. Currently, though, with my massive stash of Christmas chocolate (say, 5+lbs in the cupboard…) flower have to be the better choice, ‘cause who knows when I’d get to candy :P
Definitely Flowers. They brighten up any room and make it a happy place. These days we could all use a bright spark in our day.
Flowers, for sure! They are more rare in my life as a gift than candy :-)
Candy, especially chocolate.
Candy, unless the flowers are actually a flowering plant.
Flowers!
Candy! It must always be candy! (I’m a chocaholic) Though flowers are nice too, I guess.¯\(ツ)/¯😄🍫🍬🍫🍭
I adore getting flowers, it’s been forever since I did.
I love this little tutorial, thank you so much for sharing it!
Always candy!
Flowers are best – pretty and healthier for the waist :)
Flowers. Candy is not my friend even though I love it.
I will take candy especially chocolate any day over flowers.
I would choose flowers.
Definitely flowers are better— the candy causes too much weight gain!
Flowers. they brighten your day for more than one day. Plus they smell fabulous!!
Chocolate candy please!!!!

I would love to do both
Flowers, since they are always such a welcome surprise!
I’m not much of a candy eater so I prefer flowers. 💐🍂🍁🌷🌸🏵️
Definitely flowers! lovely fresh flowers!
This is a darling craft – I know my daughter will love doing this for her dolls! Thank you so much for sharing these instructions with us! As for flowers or candy, I have to say the best gifts are the ones from the heart. I would be thankful for either of the choices if given because the giver wanted to – not because social customs dictate they should. <3
SPIN5 I love the beauty of flowers however both are most joyfully received! Any and all kinds of delicious Chocolates are always treasured however it seldom lasts long.
Flowers
Chocolate candy!
I love them both! I’ll go for the flowers!
I love dark chocolate candy.
Cookies. They honestly last longer for me than flowers!
Flowers, if I can plant them. Then I can enjoy them for a long time, and so can all who go by my garden.
Flowers!!!!!!!!! They are just so pretty 😍💐
Candy :)
Candy is definitely best, especially chocolate!
I’d say bacon maple bars, but since that’s not a choice I’ll go with flowers!!
I’d say bacon maple bars, but since that’s not a choice I’ll go with flowers!!
I’d say bacon maple bars, but since that’s not a choice I’ll go with flowers!!
I would pick flowers. I am an insulin dependent diabetic, and I can enjoy all the beauty and joy of flowers without compromising my eating plan.
I like flowers because they last for several days. Candy will be gone in one day.
While I love flowers, I definitely prefer chocolate!
Candy of course but time to buy for yourself is after valentine day it 50% off
Candy! It makes you feel so good (and sinful) and you can share it with all.
Definitely chocolate! The darker the better. Drs even say it is good for you.
Hard to choose! I have a strong sweet tooth though so I’ll say candy!
I love candy.
Lindor caramel filled chocolate bars—-my current obsession!
Candy is better in my opinion. I always celebrate “Half Priced Chocolate” day on the 15th.
Candy is best flowers did after a while unless they are fake. I really like candy!😃
Love the cookie tutorial, thanks. Between the two, I choose candy over flowers. Dark chocolate, sea salted covered caramel please.
Flowers, especially if they can be planted.
The multi-color roses as they brighten the room. They were my Mom’s favorite grouping of roses.
Flowers! Sunflowers or wildflowers! 🌻
Flowers! Preferably with roots on them so I can plant them in my garden.
Candy…especially if it’s chocolate.
Candy, preferably dark chocolate!
I would gladly receive either gift.
Flowers!
