This fully lined lunch bag is perfect for those days when your doll wants to bring his or her lunch to school. The zipper provides for a generous opening, making easy access to lunch. There is an option to put a loop inside to hold a water bottle or thermos and an outside pocket for notes or milk money.
This PDF sewing pattern by JenAshley Doll Designs is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.
Recommended Fabrics: light to medium weight woven fabric such as quilters' cotton. Not suitable for stretch fabrics.
Supplies Needed:
- 1/4 yard or fat quarter woven fabric (You will have fabric left over).
- 1/4 yard or fat quarter woven fabric for lining
- Nylon zipper (I recommend a zipper that is 12 inches or longer because it makes construction easier. For the example project, I used a 14-inch zipper and cut off the excess after it was installed.)
- Optional for ribbon handle: 4.5 to 5-inch piece of 3/8 - 1/2 inch wide ribbon for the handle or two pieces of different widths for layering
- Optional: Light to medium weight fusible interfacing for the bag and/or lining pieces
- Optional bottle holder: a 5-inch piece of 1/4 inch wide elastic
