Holiday Helper 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

2 reviews   |

The perfect outfit for that first Holiday job at the Mall! Whether it’s wrapping gifts, babysitting or hanging decorations, your 18-inch doll will look enchanting in her adorable 'Holiday Helper' costume from Little Miss Muffett.

The outfit consists of a long-sleeved Bodysuit, mock-layered Skirt, pretty Bolero and cute ‘Santa’ Cap. The fitted Bodysuit has a round neck and closes at the back with Hook & Loop Tape with a Zipper Finish. The gathered Skirt, which closes at Center Back with a snap fastener, has a tulle ruffle and an extension to add a little extra color and festiveness. The lined Bolero has a fold back collar, optional piping and two small buttons to finish. The ‘Santa’ Cap sports a fur sideband and pompom.

This fairly easy intermediate level pattern is designed to fit 18-inch soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl®.

Holiday Helper

I honestly wasn’t quite sure how I was going to like this pattern, but it turned out really cute! I love mixing up different prints, and this was a perfect showcase for some Christmas fabrics I already had on hand. The one piece knit bodysuit is probably the only piece that’s a little more challenging to make - especially trying to match stripes! - but the instructions walk you through it nicely. The skirt and bolero style vest pieces are easy, and I really like the piping accent on the bolero. (The skirt calls for a tulle edging, but I tend to melt tulle, so I avoid it, but a piece of lace was a good substitute. (I decided to skip the hat, but it is cute!)

Holiday Helper - a fun, easy sew

I tested this pattern for the designer. Honestly, it took me longer to decide which fabrics I wanted to put together than to sew the whole outfit. My stash of stretch fabrics is limited, so that was the keystone for my color choices. The pattern is well designed and goes together quickly and the finished outfit is so darned cute, your doll is going to want more than one of these outfits. It's such a versatile pattern too, the bodysuit can become underwear, sleepwear or a base for a gymnastics outfit, the bolero looks great with a teeshirt and jeans, and the skirt is great for all year round, depending on your fabric choices. You won't regret adding this fabulous pattern to your stash, I promise!
