Regency lasted only between 1811 - 1820 and it was a period when King George III was deemed unfit to rule and his son ruled as Prince Regent. The Regency is noted for its elegance and achievements in the fine arts, architecture and fashion which was heavily influenced by the French. The Redingote is a long overcoat similar to a Pelisse and it does not close completely in the front. As the Regency faded and skirts began to widen and grow, the Redingote became a favored outer garment because it revealed the dress beneath and didn’t have to close over an enlarged skirt.
Pattern includes photographic sewing instructions to make a Redingote and a Bonnet and all pattern components come in two sizes:
~ Sized to fit 18 inch larger dolls such as American Girl® and
~ Sized to fit the 18" slim Carpatina Dolls or Magic Attic
Recommended Fabrics: Silk, Satin, Brocade, Embroidered Trims
Supplies Needed:
- 1/2 yard main fabric
- 1/2 yard lining
- 1/2 yard floral trim
- 5" fusible fabric for the bonnet
- 1/2 yard ribbon and 1 button for the bonnet
- 1 buckle for the belt
- 3 snaps for closure
- Matching thread
