The Nordic Winter Cape and Cap PDF pattern by Dollhouse Designs is the second pattern in the princess inspired series. The traditional Nordic folk dress of Norway was the influence for this Princess-inspired Outerwear. This Cape and Cap pattern coordinates perfectly with the upcoming companion Winter Bunad Outfit pattern. It includes pattern pieces to make attractive scallops, shaped trim, and design templates for use with hand-embroidery, fabric paint, or appliqué –whatever your vision. This can be made as simply or as finely detailed as you wish!
This charming capelet (short cape attached at shoulders) has shaped side pieces. The main section of full cape sweeps long and full. The cap is adorable and fits just right. All pieces are lined. The cape uses a clasp or ties to close. The cap uses elastic or ties. Both pieces are tailored perfectly for American Girl dolls and similar 18" dolls.
Recommended Fabrics: Velveteen, Microsuede (faux suede), Corduroy, Wool and Wool Blends
Supplies Needed:
-1/2 yard Light to Mid-Weight Fabric, napped if possible like velveteen, microsuede, corduroy, etc.
-1/2 yard contrast -if making optional appliques
-1/2 yard lining fabric
-1/2 yard double sided fusible interfacing if making optional appliques
-Remnant of faux fur (optional)
-3/4 yard 'baby' or 3/4" pompom trim (optional)
-Trims, Sequins, or Fabric Paint for embellishment (amount varies)
-Desired Closures -¼ yard Clear elastic (often in lingerie section), One set Clasp Closure or 1 ½ yards Braid Trim, Ribbon, or
-Cord for tie closures (Specific information in “Sources” section at end)
