The waistband fabric should have some stretch. The skirt is designed to fit above the knees. This 9 page PDF sewing pattern provides full color step-by-step illustrated instructions and full size pattern pieces. I voted for the mini skirt. It is so cute and would look great in different fabrics. However, it was a hard decision to make. When I was younger my mother made me a box pleated skirt. The fabric chosen was to make the colors pop when the pleats opened up. It was my favorite. I received many compliments every time I wore it.
