My favorite fashion era is the 1800’s, but I also love the Renaissance era. I would like to see a historical pattern offered for boys. Sleepwear, and ordinary day wear for pioneers, gold rush guys with their early Levi’s, and farm wear. Really, PIxie Faire has so many patterns, it’s difficult to come up with something they do not offer. I love Pixie Faire!!

My favorite historical era never really happened – it’s steampunk! I love the blend of Victorian with other, typically punk rock, styles that brings a whole new look into the world. It’s fun to think of what inventions might have been made and how fashion would have responded to that. It’s not just a matter of sprinkling gears on something or putting in miscellaneous straps and buckles. It all needs to serve a purpose, like getting in and out of dirigibles without showing too much ankle and however does one manage one’s hat in the higher atmosphere? Come on, designers, let your imagination fly…with helium!

I can usually find clothing designs from any era that I like. From the lush look of Edwardian designs to the pretty calico prairie dresses of the 1800s to the mod looks of the 1960s, there are so many beautiful pieces of history to choose from. That being said, my absolute favorite fashion era is definitely the 1940s. I see photos of my grandparents from when they were young and just absolutely love the clothing styles the wore. I would like to see more designs from the 40s for sure.
