My biggest sewing challenge is to keep my sewing room organized where I can actually sew! My biggest sewing project that challenged med was this past Christmas. I am a teacher. A total of 68 students come to me for instruction. Their gift from me was a zipper bag with their name embroidered it. Someone helped me cut out the fabric for the zipper bags. 2 weeks before party day I started sewing & embroidering them. And I sewed, and embroidered, and sewed, and embroidered….way into the night many nights in a row. The night before the party I was up until 2 am. But, with the help of my husband, I went to school with all 68 embroidered zipper bags. Yeah! Seeing the look of excitement of my students faces made all those late nights of sewing so worth it!

They all have American Girl dolls (including my grandsons) and whenever I sew an outfit for them, they always want a matching outfit for their doll. There is a very limited number of boy doll patterns out there in comparison to the girl doll patterns and I am always trying to improvise to make something for their doll to match!

Most of the time I only use parts and pieces of a pattern to create my own garments so an internalized knowledge of the best way to construct something.
