My best sewing tip is to don’t be afraid to try. Don’t rush, read pattern, ask for help, read others tips and enjoy.
My favorite sewing tip is to keep your sewing area very organized.
My best sewing tip is use a glue stick to “baste” tiny hems. It works for me for both knit and woven fabrics. And then use coffee filters or tissue paper to keep your machine from eating those tiny pieces!
My best sewing tip is to use a coffee filter as a stabilizer when hemming knits.
“My best sewing tip is to iron your seams well.” I was taught the importance of keeping your pieces and seams well ironed. This helps give a finished look to the piece. It also ensures that your pieces will lay flat and fit/nestle nicely into the next piece.
My best sewing tip is enjoy and have patience!
My favorite sewing tip is to keep supplies organized and labeled and have the right tools for the job. All of these help make sewing more enjoyable.
A place for everything and everything in it’s place that way you will always know where to find something
I tip is to follow the grain of the fabric when cutting.
My best sewing tip is to press and then press again. It helps everything to lay smooth and also stay in place while you sew.
My best sewing tip is to get up and walk around a bit when starting to feel tired—it’s better than ripping seams.
My favorite tip is go slow and press
My best sewing tip is to read through the whole pattern and study each picture before you begin sewing. I like to cut time off the project by hemming the sleeves, and bottom of dresses or pants if possible.
My favorite sewing tip is measure twice cut once. I also include checking my pattern placement as part of measurement. It’s saved me a lot of headaches realizing I placed the pattern in the wrong direction of a fabric print!
My favorite sewing tip is to have patience, rushing any project will lead to rework and regrets.
Great books fabric and interfacing choices at Joanne
My best sewing tip is prewash your fabric. I learned the hard way it can shrink a lot when you’re ironing your piece as you sew it. Prewashing, drying & then ironing before cutting assures your piece will be perfect!
My best sewing tip is to enjoy the make. If you’re feeling tired or stressed take a little break and pick up again later when refreshed.
My best sewing tip is to iron the heck out of the fabric before proceeding to the next step. It truly makes garments look so neat and tidy!
My favorite sewing tip is to not bo so hard on yourself and give yourself grace. Take the time to be careful, read twice and cut or sew once, and just enjoy sewing and creating.
My favorite sewing tip is to have patience. I seem to make more mustakes when I am in a hurry.
My best sewing tip is using an electric personal shaver to remove seams. It has worked better than a seam ripper on delicate fabrics. I work in a sewing department at a hospital and need to remove long seams fast from time to time and this trick has been a huge help.
When using fabric that looks the same on the front and back (right side and wrong side) mark the wrong side of all cut out pieces with a fabric marker before removing them from the pattern pieces.
My best sewing tip is to use tissue paper or a coffee filter under delicate and knit fabrics to keep the fabric from getting caught in the machine when starting a seam.
My best sewing tip is to use tear away stabilizer or tissue under knits. Keeps the dd’s fabric from being eaten.
My best sewing tip is to have all materials, threads, etc, assembled and have your plan of action worked out before beginning. Saves a lot of hassels later.
My sewing tip: read instructions thoroughly. Don’t rush even if you think you know what’s next. Take time to read through the pattern.
My best sewing tip is to make or buy a doll size pressing ham and sleeve roll. Makes pressing those tiny seams much easier and more accurate. Love U Bunches has a pattern here on Pixie Faire.
My best sewing tip is to zigzag the cut edges of your fabric before pre-washing it. This prevents the tangled mess of loose ends.
My best sewing tip is to label containers/boxes with color or type of fabric you have stored in them. Then if you are looking for purples, you don’t have to look in every box.
My best sewing tip is to clean up. your sewing space after you are done sewing a project.
My best sewing tip is keep the seam ripper handy :)
My best sewing tip is serging seams edges before sewing
My best sewing tip is keeping all your items organized. It saves time and stress in the long run.
My tip is to organize your sewing area before you begin. I always love to see everything I might need lajd out ready to use. AND thanks everyone for your tips. I will press !!
My best sewing tip is watch a video of someone else making the garment first, if you can find one. Many times you can learn new tricks of the trade by watching how others make clothes. (use various sources) Sometimes they mention what the trick is but many times they just do it naturally because they have been doing it a long time and if you pay attention you can pick up on them.
My best sewing tip is iron your seams as you go. Your finished product will look beautiful in the end.
My best sewing tip is to iron, iron, iron.
My best sewing tip would be to pay attention to the design on your material when laying out your pattern.
My best sewing tip is press those seams! It make a huge difference – and a mini iron (the kind used for quilt making) is a game changer for doll clothes.
My best sewing tip is to read through the instructions to make sure you understand them before starting to sew. And then second to make sure you have all the tools and supplies you need before you begin the project.
My favorite sewing tip is to pull loose threads to the back and tie, instead of backstitching, on areas that show from the outside.
My best sewing tip is to enjoy the creative process. I reflect on the Lord’s creation and prayer that the project will be a blessing to whomever ends up with it.
Measure twice cut once
My best tip is to use a mini iron and press every seam as you go along. Makes a big difference when working in small scale.
My best sewing tip – enjoy the journey. Whether you are learning something new or are doing something for the 100th time, find the joy in the process/journey. It can often be the key to success.
My best sewing tip is to organize your sewing space
My best sewing tip is tone in a good frame of mind, it helps when my project doesn’t seem to be going in the right direction.
My favorite sewing tip is to use clear elastic on knits when needing to stabilize a seam.
My best sewing tip is….press, press, press! Ironing makes all the difference.
My best sewing tip is to test a new pattern before using ‘good’ fabric. Use an old sheet, muslin or piece of material you don’t care about to make sure the garment will fit before committing to more expensive fabric. I write the pattern name on the test piece and put it in a box so I can refer back to it if necessary.
my best sewing tip is to read all the directions and have everything you need before you start
Get out everything you will need before you start a project.
My best sewing tip is using a Q-tip to turn out tiny lined areas of doll clothing. With the soft cushioning there’s no chance of poking through the fabric which can happen when using a knitting needle.
My favorite sewing tip is to read through all directions once or twice if needed to ensure you have all items in the necessary quantity before you start, and then just begin, don’t let anything hold you back from starting.
My best sewing tip is to wind an extra bobbin before you start your project of your most used thread colors or for a big project so that you don’t have to stop in the middle of your project to replenish.
My best sewing tip is to use a walking foot when sewing knit fabrics.
My best sewing tip is to write down all your tips! LOL Everyone has shared so many good ones!!
Press, press, press.
My best sewing tip is to press every seam for the most professional look and to have the ironing station a few steps away so you get a little exercise in while you see.
My best sewing tip is to change your needle with each project, and take the time to understand which needle is best for what you’re sewing.
My best sewing tip is to set your sewing machine speed on slow and keep pressing every seam.
My best sewing tip is to read the pattern through before you cut. I found that out the hard way.
My best sewing tip is to clean and oil your machine frequently and change your needle frequently. Another great tip is to iron your project between every step. It makes a huge difference in the final outcome of your project.
My favorite sewing tip is to keep my iron next to my sewing machine (I have 2, one for steam and one for dry heat) and use it for every seam.
My best sewing tip is for doll clothing because the seams and hems are only 1/4". Sometimes pins are just in the way so I having a mini iron nearby and press as much as possible. Still there are times when holding things in place, I feel like I am all thumbs. I use Wash Away Wonder Tape. Its a great product that has double-sided adhesive and it is transparent. It does not seem to leave any residue on my needles.
My best sewing tip is to read over the steps first to understand the project better. If still unclear watch a video on the parts that are unclear. And of course, press seams as you go along.
My best sewing tip is, take you time and don’t be so hard on yourself.
My best sewing advice is to keep the sewing area organized. Too many things get lost under piles!
My best sewing tip is too take your time with doing the project and enjoy the outcomes.
My best sewing tip is… don’t give up! Keep trying!
Truthfully I can’t pick a favorite sewing tip. Every one is useful in a special way! I guess I could say my favorite one is to get out there and try sewing!
My favorite sewing tip is … read ALL instructions first. I’ve learned this the hard way LOL
My best sewing tip is to keep watching Cinnamon. She has been so wonderful teaching us how to sew doll clothing.
My best sewing tip is to just do it! Stop collecting fabric and tools and just sit down and sew something!
My best sewing tip is to sew slowly.
My best sewing tip is using a 28 mm or smaller rotary cutter for cutting fabric, and use the correct needles for fabric
My best sewing tip is ironing! Pressing seams and other things will help you sew things properly.
My sewing tip is to go to YouTube if you are unsure of a certain technique. It’s always helped me if I got stuck!
My best sewing tip is to experiment with parts of different patterns to make unique doll clothes designs.
My best sewing tip is to organize your supplies. There is nothing more annoying than to be halfway through a project and have to search for something you need.
My favorite sewing tips are read directions first, press, press, press, take breaks when you get frustrated, use tissue paper on flimsy fabric and have fun!
My best sewing tip is..when unfamiliar with a sewing technique is to watch a video on YouTube several times to understand how to do it. Then practice the unfamiliar technique to become more proficient.
My best sewing tip is to have everything ready beforehand. It helps to not have to stop and find an item in the middle of sewing.
My best sewing tip is to keep your iron hot and press every seam. Pressing means the difference between an OK garment and a great-looking garment!
My best sewing tip is to try. That pattern you have been avoiding, give it a whirl. That fabric that scares the heck out of you, purchase a small amount and make an item you are very familiar with sewing. Just getting started sometimes can also be daunting, set a timer, turn off your phone, lock yourself in your sewing room and begin a 30 minute sprint. These sprints can jump start the magic.
My best sewing tip is to press, press, press!
My best sewing tip is to just try it! I used one of the pjs patterns and made pjs for the dolls. My daughter is getting older and still likes her dolls and wanted pjs to match. I used the concept of the doll pattern and made her a pair as well. It worked out great! I made my own pattern and went for it!!
Best sewing tip is to enjoy and have fun creating!
My best sewing tip is keep it fun! If you’re not enjoying making a project, it may begin to feel like “work”. I believe that nowadays sewing is to relax and have fun doing, just like crafts, knitting, jewelry making, painting, just like so many other hobbies. If sewing is your job, wouldn’t you still want to enjoy doing it and be proud of the “work” you produce? Sew and enjoy 😊,
My best sewing tip is to read through all the instructions before beginning, so you have an idea of what has to done before you start cutting and sewing.
My best sewing tip is to have a tiny head iron next to the sewing machine to iron the seams. And, if you don’t understand the technique in the pattern, look it up on YouTube. A video is always better than a set of drawings.
Aim for excellence, not perfection. Don’t let the fear of having the project not turn out exactly like you want keep you from starting.
And, as mentioned earlier by LindaC, I always use a leader strip to start a seam.
My best sewing tip is using tissue paper under knits and keeping my iron right next to my sewing machine. Pinking Shears are my best friend.
Best tip that I have is to ask questions! There is a massive community eager to help!
My favorite sewing tip is to never give up on yourself. Use your skills to make it unique. Sometimes it might be just a button or a special little detail that makes the project…I love barbie clothes and maybe its the fabric that speaks, like clay on a potters wheel…creatively uniquely yours have fun!!! And I always reinforce my seams if it’s just topstitching or a double sewn seam…especially in kids and doll clothes.
My best sewing tip is to press, press and press – iron is your best friend.
My best sewing tip is to take time to enjoy while creating!
My best sewing tip is to carefully read the instructions. Then read them again :) when I’m doubt, Google!
