This year I will be at the hospital with my son thanking God that he is still here. He was in a bad accident December 15 at work. He fell somewhere between 15-20 feet off a ladder and landed on his face on the concrete. He had many broken bones but they did his last surgery Thursday and should be moving him back to the Rehab today or tomorrow. I have fallen in love with 18 inch dolls and am so glad I found this site. I have been making a lot of outfits for my granddaughters and I love these outfits featured today. My New Years Plans include putting on my big-girl panties and growing up. At 68, I’m a relatively new widow and before that, my greatest joy was sewing. It is now interspersed with power lawn tools, getting rid of mice (we live by the woods) and paying minimal attention to naysayers. They don’t think I can run house alone and they “pooh-pooh” my dolls and sewing. So for 2018, I’m movin’ on.

My New Year’s plans include/start on New Year’s Eve, (today), with church services and a thankful heart to God for another year of active life and meaningful interconnections with family and church brethren. It is always a joyful day of celebration! Today, my family will also come together to cook, and visit, and watch football. We will talk about our most important memories of the past year and our hopes, prayers, and dreams for the future. We will remember loved ones who have passed on and the blessings they brought to our lives. Tonight, after evening church service, we will drive around town and say goodbye to all of the beautiful holiday lights that we have enjoyed throughout this holiday season. Then we will come home, eat popcorn, cheese and crackers and watch movies until Midnight. At Midnight we will toast in the New Year with rootbeer floats, hugs, and well wishes all around — then go to bed. New Year’s morning, we will share a big holiday breakfast, then tackle taking down and storing the Christmas ornaments and sharing our final day together before we go back to volunteer work on January 2nd, working on our community theater musical, where my daughter paints sets and drops and I design costumes, while my husband holds down the fort at home wondering where to go for take out food for dinner, which he will bring to us (so we don’t forget to eat in our 12-18 hour work shifts). In one short week, we will all be back at our regular jobs and college, spread around the country, and dreaming of our next holiday get together. We love this Winter “Break” because we love our family and community connections. God bless everyone and Happy New Year one and all!
