The most meaningful gift I have made for someone was: Hmm, it is so hard to choose just one. I made an outfit to bring my first granddaughter home from the hospital. I stayed up most of the night to make it. My daughter and grown granddaughter cherish it. I made memory pillows for several people. I have made numerous baby blankets, wardrobes of doll clothes for family as gifts. I also make the wedding cakes for all family, as my gift. Just too hard to pick just one. Good memories!
“The most meaningful gift I made for someone is the christening gown for my granddaughter made from the train of her mother’s wedding dress – and there is still a short train left if she ever in the future wishes to wear her mother’s wedding gown with a train!.”
A pillow for my mom with all our furbabies on it.
“The most meaningful gift I made for someone is a wardrobe for a dear friend’s original Saucy Walker doll. She still changes her clothes for the seasons and holidays from the wardrobe I made her.
The most meaningful gift I ever made was a small doll cradle with mattress, blankets and pillow with a nightgown for the little doll. It was made when I was a child, for a girl as an apology gift because I had been mean to her
The most meaningful gift/s I made for someone are things that either meet a need or have deep personal significance to them. Often it relates to a special occasion, wedding, birth or death.

I’ve made many gifts, however the most meaningful (at least for me) are the purses I’ve made and sent to Sew Powerful. I strongly believe in this project and plan to keep supporting it.
The most meaningful gift I made for someone is a infant gnome knitted preemie hat for one of my students’ new baby brother who was born prematurely. She was so worried about him that I thought she would feel better if I made her brother a hat that grows with the preemie baby. I got the pattern from a knitting website that promotes charity projects. She loved it and she seemed to feel better when at school. Her parents loved it too, and I got to see him wear it!
The most meaningful gift I ever made was knitting a sweater and putting a Panda Bear on it for my mom
The most meaningful gift I made was a tabletop quilt I made for my sister. I used it to decorate for her surprise 50th birthday party this summer and then gave it to her this past Christmas.

The most meaningful gift I made for someone was a wardrobe for a Kit American Girl Doll for my daughter. Kit was 9/10 in the 1930s and so was my mother. I made all the dresses from scraps from what my grandmother had used to make my mother’s own clothes.
The most meaningful gifts I made for someone are the dresses, purses, backpacks, car mats, etc for boys and girls around the world that I pack in shoeboxes every year!
One of my favorite things I do is make doll clothes and find old dolls and fix them up then i make a backpack to carry everything in. then go to where the homeless area and give them to little girls.
The most meaning gift I made for someone was/is a felt beaded Christmas Ornament in memory of my husband’s best friend Tom. I have sent the ornaments to Tom’s brother and sister for the past 10 years with his Name stitched on each one.
Every year I make wooden painted Christmas ornaments for members of my Sunday School class , friends and family. Choosing the design is a big deal for me. I do not know which of the gifts I have made would be most meaningful. I have made gifts for many, many years and all have given me pleasure to give and recipients were grateful to receive (except one and that may be the most memorable for the wrong reason….) ; )
The most meaningful gift I made was my sister in law’s wedding dress. It took a full month of sewing but came out beautiful!
The best is teaching the next generation my sewing skills. I worked with my granddaughter to sew a hand towel that hands on the cupboard door or oven door. You know the kind, it has a header at the top with a button to close it around the door handle. Her mother was so touched to receive it.
The most meaningful gift I ever made was stuffed animals for my kids to lay on
The most meaningful gift I made for someone is a quilt I made for my oldest granddaughters. My sister was teaching me how to quilt a comforter with just a bit of quilt stitching so I decided I would make it and give to my granddaughter. I followed up with that gift and made quilts for each of my granddaughters. My grandsons weren’t interested in any quilts at that time but I plan on making them to give as wedding gifts or house warming gifts when the time comes.
Oh gosh, 50 years of sewing, quilting & crochet for family, friends and charities all blur together in my mind as this moment! But during Covid19 lockdown I made a queen size applique quilt in which every block represented each church, home and business on main street in our town and I donated it to the church for their fundraiser so that helped a lot of people. More personally, on October 3rd my 38 y/o nephew died of long haul Covid19 suddenly and unexpectedly and I’ve made pillows and t-shirts of his favorite quote for family. Jared loved a quote from the movie Kingdom of Heaven, “What man is a man, who does not make the world better?” And he did, everyday. And all of us who sew for others, do too…
The most meaninful gift I have made was for my daughter her wedding dress. It was a such a blessing to do that for her. I have purchased may things from homesew they are such a gift to all the sewers. I am so thankful for them..
The most meaningful gift I made was for the whole volleyball team and it was vests. Thank you for the awesome giveaways.😘
One of the most meaningful things I have sewn is quilt blocks for relatives of the shooting at the Pulse night club in Orlando Florida.
Since I’ve sewn my whole life and have put love into each item….I LOVE giving items I’ve made away. From masks and pillows to wedding gowns and dolls dresses. I feel that my talent is to be shared with others.
The most meaningful gift I made for someone is a scrapbook of her childhood – a gift for my niece when she got married.
Doll clothes for my grandchildren. They love getting them and helping me design them.
Baptismal gown I sewed for my daughter using fabric from my wedding gown.
The person I honor most is my mother-in-law who knitted 100s of baby sweaters for church missions plus many items for church bazars and gifts. Along the way, she crocheted 3 ripple afghans for my 3 boys. When she noticed that they loved these afghans so much, she made each a second afghan made out of heavy-durable never-to-wear-out yarns. Now, 25 years later, the heavy-duty afghans are carefully stored away, but the original afghans are still being dragged around. My grandchildren cuddle under them while watching TV, etc. How these manage to survive the laundry and not become a pile of shreds is beyond me.
The most meaningful gift I made for someone is my daughters pageant dress. That she trusted me to do it and to see that I could do as well as some of the designer dresses. It made us both feel good.
The most meaningful gift I ever made was a 3 foot tall stuffed polar bear for my sister who was spending her first Christmas away from home. Ike, the polar bear also had hat, mittens, a scarf, boots (all knitted) and handmade snow shoes snowshoes. Ike is still much loved.
When my DIL said the 5-year-old twins needed 18-inch doll clothes for this Christmas I asked her for clothes the girls outgrew that she couldn’t sell to make the doll clothes. They were so happy to have familiar clothing for their dolls.
The most meaningful gift I made was kilts for 3 of my sons. They were made using technical kilt making methods. Two of the kilts are made using Ancient Davidson tartan, which is blue-green. The other kilt is Grant tartan, which is red. The son that has the Grant Tartan always were his on Christmas along with the socks, ribbons, & sporran, Ginniewren Designs Scottish patterns are VERY authentic.
Since pretty much everything I make, whether sewn, painted or cooked, is gifted, I’m not really sure which is the most meaningful.
One project that comes to mind is a quiet book bag of activities based on the funny stories of Pat McManus. I made it for two little boys whose family introduced us to his hilatious books. I had a color matching page based on “The Night the Bear Ate Goombaw,” a shape matching page based on “The Mountain Car,” a marble maze and an I-spy. I even found an ugly stuffed dog which the boys recognized right off as being Strange the Skunk Dog.
So, I suppose sometimes the most meaningful gifts I’ve been able to make or assemble have been the ones geared specifically to the recipient.
I have had some gifts that were meaningful to me because I spent over a month making them special, but they went to children in other countries so I never got to see if they liked them or not. I can only hope they felt the love that went into making their gifts.
The most meaningful gifts I have made are quilts for family, friends and veterans.
The most meaningful gift I made for someone is a cotton blanket I knit for our first little great nephew. And I just saw a picture of him flying home sound asleep and wrapped up in that blanket. I’m just tickled to bits!
The most meaningful gift I ever made was throws for my granddaughter. Sadly we buried her wrapped in it.
The most meaningful gifts I have made were crocheted dolls for an online organization called Feel Better Friends the dolls were for mentally and or physically disabled children all over the USA and 3 countries. I crocheted the doll and sewed outfits for them to match what the kids were wearing in there pictures. It gave them a friend like them to share what they were experiencing. I also sewed 500 or more double layered masks for free during the Covid epidemic and are still making them for free for anyone who asks for them.
The most meaningful gifts I made for someone are T-quilts to remember a relative.
The most meaningful gift I made was for my parents. It was a photo quilt of them and all of their children and grandchildren for their 50th anniversary. They are deceased now but my sister wanted it to hang in her home.
The most meaningful gift I have made someone is hard to choose…a doll-size Dorothy outfit for my granddaughter when she had the lead role in her school’s Wizard of Oz play; a child-size and matching doll-size apron for another granddaughter when she was totally into the British Baking show; a Christmas music vest for my very musical husband which he wears whenever he leads carolling and worship during the Christmas season are 3 of my creations that have brought joy to both the recipient and me, the giver.
The most meaningful gift I have made was making Baptismal Gown ensembles for my three daughters to use for their own children. I made three sets. Each of my daughters have two children. I embroidered the first child’s name, birth, date of Baptism on gown and when the second child arrived, I added their name to the gown. The ensemble included a slip, gown, jacket and bonnet with lots of lace and embroidery.
Several Star Wars & Barbie purses for my 2 sisters.

The most meaningful gifts I ever sewed were clothes I made for my daughters as they grew up, clothes for my husband, halloween outfits, and a 7 × 7 quilt for my grandson’s graduation using all t shirts from middle school through high school. Making doll clothes has been a recent addition and giving them to girls and boys make me feel good.
The most meaningful gift I’ve ever made was a doll dress for my mother-in-law. It was made from her favorite dress to wear to the opera, which she had given me to cut up for doll clothes. It was made from the Hello, Oscar dress pattern, with some alterations, and was beautiful in burgundy taffeta, with pleats that were already in the dress itself, satin flowers, and lace straps/trim. I added a “pearl” necklace and bracelet. My MIL was so touched, she cried.

The most meaningful gifts I’ve made are the scrapbooks I have made for our foster kids. Some have been with us for 3 -5 years and I want them to remember the fun things we did as well as the daily-to-day stuff. I also want their families to see that their kids were happy & loved while they were separated. I hope it helps parents connect to the things they missed and gives kids plenty of stories to tell to their parents about their time apart.
The most meaningful gift I made is some hippos for my grandkids.
The most meaningful gifts I make are complete wardrobes, a handmade tote bag, and quilt with an 18” doll for little girls who have been sexually abused.

Most meaningful gift? Hard to decide or even remember all I’ve made…..so will go with my current project, a knitted lace baby blanket for my new grand daughter.
One of the most meaningful gifs I’ve made for someone, is the stocking I made for my great-nephew who passed shortly after he was born. His parents were so happy to have it to place with the rest of the familiy’s at Christmas.

The most meaningful sewing I’ve done was a donation. I work for a school district and we have a big silent auction fundraiser every December. The money helps students experiencing homelessness and students struggling with their mental health. I purchased an 18" doll, and my sister and I made outfits (one for each month of the year), including accessories. We raised a little over $300 for the cause. As far as gifts go, I’ve loved sewing for my granddaughters’ dolls for birthday and Christmas.
