What's in Store for 2024: Did you know that Sewing With Cinnamon launched in April 2017 and since that date we've published 78 courses, including over 300 individual videos Wow! You might think we've covered everything there is to cover, but you're wrong! We've polled members and come up with a set of new ideas for the coming year.

We're super excited about what we have planned for 2024! Here's the calendar of upcoming course themes:

  • January - Sewing A Themed Wardrobe: Gymnastics (Kicking off on Tuesday, January 9th)
    • Something for Lila® In this course we have a few new patterns and a few fun & crafty projects. Sew-along with Cinnamon as she shows you how to make the Malibu Libby Hollywood Tracksuit! Join Shari for a sew-along for her new tumbling mat pattern and a few other projects (making a set of uneven bars and a balance beam!)
  • February - Sewing A Tudor Gown (With Shari Fuller)
    • In this course, Shari will be reflecting on the Tudor time period and showcasing one of her patterns with a sew-along as well as detailed technique tutorials.

  • April - Sew Along With A Grimm Fairy Tale

  • November - Creative Upcycling - A Doll House
    • The ultimate upcycling project, turning a piece of furniture into a darling doll house with storage too! Shari has some ideas to share - this will be fun!

My biggest sewing challenge is hardware! From zippers and buckles to grommets, I always avoid them when I can in favor of a hand done method. I don’t mind the hand sewing, but it seems like there is an easy, faster way, if I could only wrap my head around it! I would love to make doll belts using buckles and grommets if I could.

I sometimes have a hard time finishing projects. Either I get to a step that makes me nervous or one that’s just tedious, and I’ll put off doing it, even though I really want to be done and start something new. I try really hard not to start a new project until the last one is done, because otherwise I would have a million unfinished projects. Right now I only have about 3 unfinished projects, so not too bad!

My biggest challenge is the vent pleat on the back of a straight skirt. Also adjusting a bodice to cover a sheered waist. It used to be finishing the bottom of the zipper, but once I watched the master class video I think I can do that now. Thank you for the 12 days of Christmas videos, it has inspired me to use different needles, presser feet and just get on with it.

It’s the New Year and it’s time for me to get rid of the things that I know that I’ll never use, the notion(s) that I thought would make easier and don’t and so on. Also, it’s the perfect time to either organize or reorganize all of notions that I have. The challenge is to find new and better ways that are practical and won’t break the bank!

Orgagnizing material, trims, and supplies is my biggest challenge. Being a costumer for a high school and middle for years + donations left on my porch during the pandemic has overflowed my sewing room. I now have 2 embroidery machines, 2 sergers, 1 commercial machine, 1 heavy duty machine, and 6 sewing machines. Many were left on my porch, hardly ever used when their mothers died from covid.
