This pattern is perfect for horse lovers and doll play. The horse is 20” tall measuring from the ground to top of the head and 14” measuring from ground to withers (back.) An optional internal wiring allows for posing and supports up to three 18 to 19 inch dolls. Three options are suggested for mane and tail materials: long pile fur, yarn, or hair extension weaves. The PDF sewing pattern Includes educational information about horse markings, and adoption of horses into the Native American culture.
Suggested Fabrics:
It is best to make the body out of a low pile upholstery fabric which has just a little bit of give. You may also select velvet, but I would not suggest making your first horse out of this type of materials because it does not have the same amount of give and tends to slip when sewing. Stretch velvet or other stretch fabrics would not be appropriate for this pattern.
To make the hoofs, a faux leather is suggested.
To make the inside of the ears, use a felt color that is a few shades lighter than the color of your horse’s coat.
Mane and Tail:
You can use a long pile faux fur, any type of yarn, or add synthetic hair extensions. Each option creates a beautiful horse.
Add Markings:
Pictures of markings can be added to match a specific bread of horse.
