Born in 1867 in Pepin, Wisconsin, Laura Ingalls Wilder had the privilege of growing up during the momentous westward expansion. She played in the untamed woods of Wisconsin, traveled by covered wagon through the Great Plains to Kansas and southern Minnesota, and followed the railroads west where she came of age on a homestead in the wild prairies of Dakota Territory. Later in her life, Laura recorded the memories of her experiences in her classic “Little House” book series, preserving a first hand account of those significant years in American history.
This “Carrie” dress pattern by Thimbles and Acorns is a reproduction of the dress that Carrie wore in a photograph that was taken around 1880, the year so vividly recorded in Laura's book “The Long Winter”.
This pattern includes instructions and pattern pieces for a princess-line double breasted dress, underskirt, and petticoat.
