The FROG Princess Fashions Carolina Girl©2019 dress was inspired by my daughter-in-law’s home state, North Carolina. The state flower of North Carolina is the dogwood, and the pink variety is one of my favorites! Their delicate pink petals surround a creamy yellow center and the leafy branches are beautiful nearly all year. With Carolina dogwoods in mind, I drew and digitized a little floral design that features the cross-shaped dogwood blossoms in a soft pink tone on a leafy branch custom-sized to fit the waistband and tie ends of this sweet dress. The dress features a v-neckline trimmed with a flounce ruffle, two flounced sleeve variations, a fitted waist band with tie ends, and a flowy, bias-cut A-line skirt. This design is best suited to lightweight fabrics with a nice drape, but still stitched up nicely in my favorite quilting cottons and blends, eyelets, lace, and more. The vintage style has wide appeal and is flattering to all 18” doll shapes.
This pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.
Recommended Fabrics: lightweight quilting cotton, poplin, batiste, polycotton, eyelet, mini gingham, small-scale calico, chevrons, stripes, plaids, and solids. Note: lightweight knits work well for the flounces, too!
