Utility Jacket 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

10 reviews   |

This fashionable casual jacket is a great wardrobe staple. It features a woven body with front and back yokes, a knit hood and knit sleeves. It includes multiple options making the jacket perfect for boys or girls.

This versatile pattern has many variations including: front pocket flaps, front patch pockets, elastic gathered back, straight back hem, curved back hem, hood drawstrings, two zipper installations and a hook and loop application.

This PDF sewing pattern by QTπ Pattern Co is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.

Recommended Fabrics: Body: Lightweight denim, heavier quilting cotton, lightweight twill, baby fine wale corduroy, flannel or corduroy. Avoid fabric with a lot of stretch. Hood and Sleeves: Medium weight sweatshirt, french terry, sturdy t-shirt knits, medium sweater knits or ponte. Avoid overly stretchy or light-weight knits. Ribbing: Ribbing, ponte or medium t-shirt knit with moderate stretch. Fabric Tips: Up-cycling a sweatshirt will provide ribbing and sweatshirt fleece. Also well loved pair of khaki pants will give you the broken in look of a traditional utility jacket. Zipper Notes: Zippers can be difficult to find. The jacket can be made with a 5” or longer zipper and can be made of metal or nylon. There are two zipper installations for using a variety of zipper sizes.

Supplies Needed:
-⅛ yard of denim or twill
-¼ yard sweatshirt fleece
-9” x 1 ¾” of ribbing (see suggested fabrics)
-5” or longer separating zipper or 6” of 1” wide hook and loop fastener
-6 ½” of ¼” or ⅜” elastic (optional)
-18” cording (optional)
-2 x ¼” buttons (optional)
-Small scrap of light-weight fusible interfacing
-Thread
