The Liberty Jane® Malibu Libby: Avila Aviator Jacket PDF Pattern designed to fit an 18 inch doll, such as American Girl® or Tonner My Imagination™, is definitely a statement piece!

Your doll will look chic and trendy with this classic bomber style jacket. All the details are spot on from the realistic zip placket to the knit bands trimming the edges. This jacket is fully lined and features raglan sleeves, and a fully functioning front separating zipper. *Zip placket is optional and jacket can be made with out it.

There are so many looks you can achieve with this jacket depending on your fabric choice. For an urban look, try a satin, nylon or faux leather/suede. For a contemporary, girly look, try a floral print in cotton or rayon. The raglan sleeves also make it fun to combine solid and print together. Have fun creating your fashionable aviator style jacket!

Bonus - Tips included to shorten any length separating zipper! Pattern is designed to use a 5" length, but you can easily use a 6" or longer length zipper too.

Suggested fabrics include satin, nylon, poly lining, rayon, print quilting cotton, sweatshirt fleece, sequined knit, and more. Ribbed knit is used for neck, cuffs, and waistband; and can be bought by the yard or up-cycled from a variety of clothing items.

avia avialor jacket

the instructions were well written and easy to follow. I usually don't do sleeve linings, but this pattern made it easy and it fit well. I actually made 2 jackets by this pattern and will make more in different fabrics.

Aviator jacket one of my favourites

I love this pattern. I have used it often with vinyl, which is sometimes too thick for the collar pattern and then i use other methods. The first time I used it I used rib trim for the collar and waist band, it caused problems because it frayed too much - not the patterns problem, rather my choice of fabric. Recommend pattern highly.

Aviator jacket

I made this with lite denim and fake suede and they both came out beautiful. Sharon

Putting the zip before the jacket

I recently bought 50 open ended zips from the manufacturer, and then the Pixie Faire Friday special was for zippered jackets. I used it once with rib trim on the neck and waist, but battled with this at the neck, so second time i just used the vinyl at the waist and bias binding at the neck. It is an easy to make pattern, the raglan sleeves are fabulous and it looks good on the dolls.
