Denim Jacket Pattern for AGAT Dolls

A Denim Jacket is a wardrobe staple and is a must have for every doll! Your 16 inch A Girl For All Time® doll will look great wearing it with her favorite tee and jeans or layered over the Salina Dress. The jacket is a true scaled down version of a real denim jacket. So many great details are included in this doll clothes pattern along with detailed instructions to confidently create this fun look! We have also included instructions for two types of seams (flat felled and faux felled) depending on the look you would like to achieve. Buttons and buttonholes are also an optional detail for this versatile jacket. They are pretty small, so we suggest sewing them for decorative (not functional) purposes either with a buttonhole setting or just a simple zigzag rectangle.

Special Note - This pattern is designed to fit  A Girl For All Time Dolls specifically and will not fit the standard 18 inch doll such as American Girl® Doll. An AGAT doll is 16 inches tall and has a slimmer hard plastic body. You can see more info on our Doll Measurements page.

This pattern is also available for 18" dolls such as American Girl®.

Recommended fabrics: Lightweight denim (with or without stretch), Twill, and Corduroy

Fun Tip - No need to go to the fabric store on this one. Try finding a pair of used, soft worn jeans to cut up for the fabric. You can achieve different looks depending on the color and wash of the denim. If you like the look of distressing, you’ll love the added tips and techniques page.

Traditional Jean Jacket

Thankfully I read the reviews before cutting out this jacket. I shortened the sleeves 1/2 inch as suggested and they are still a bit long. I also made the sleeve 1/8 inch wider on each side which required adding that 1/8 inch to the jacket front too. I highly suggest you add to the waistband also. You can always cut off any extra but when it is too short, let's just say you won't be happy. I love the details on the jacket and I've made it many times for the 18 inch size. But do make the adjustments suggested unless the pattern is updated to include the needed changes.

Authentic Denim Jacket for doll

I enjoyed making this pattern so much that I made 3 jackets. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the jacket did not fit my AGAT as well as I would have liked. I found the sleeves to be a little snug and too long for my AGAT Bex. I had to roll the sleeves up but it is still very cute on the doll. This pattern also worked well for my BFC Ink doll and my Herstory doll. My video review of this pattern can be found at https://youtu.be/3NAEMHPhssM Definitely recommend this pattern, . I would shorten the sleeve a little-- maybe about 1/2 inch.

Love this jacket

I used this pattern for my Sasha doll which is a little bit bigger than the AGAT doll. I just increased the back seams a bit and it worked fine. I had also made this jacket for the AG doll with the AG pattern. I love the detail and how authentic it looks. Great look with a **** dress!

Denim jacket for AGAT

The body of this jacket fits beautifully. The sleeves are very tight. I took my original 1/4" seams out and sewed them with a very scant 1/4" seam. They are still tight, but I can get it on her now. I also found them to be 1/4" too long, but that might be a personal preference. When I sew this again, I'm going to add 1/8" to each side of the sleeve (1/4" total) and then adjust the arm scythe a little bigger since it was a tad too small also. The instructions are great and easy to follow. Like I said the body of the jacket fit just beautifully, a little tweak to the sleeves will make this a top notch jacket.
