The unique twist and halter neck creates an elegant silhouette that is complimentary on the 18-inch doll. Add the simple sarong wrap, choosing from 4 lengths, and go from a sassy-short daytime look to a long-classy version for evening. The swimsuit uses a swim/lingerie hook or snap closure at the neck and a small amount of fold over elastic or ¼” elastic at the low back. The twist is perfect for solid colored fabrics with a pop of color added at the wrap skirt. Or experiment with just the right combination of print fabrics that you love. Quality swim fabrics will work best for this suit with light and airy fabrics for the sarong wrap. This PDF pattern is for intermediate sewing skills.
Recommended Fabrics: Swimsuit: 4-way stretch, such as swim fabrics with, spandex, lycra and/or nylon Sarong Wrap:polyester, chiffon, stretch mesh (fabrics that drape and have only a slight stretch) If using stretchy swim fabric, some adjustments will be required.
Supplies Needed:Twist Swimsuit:
-⅓ Yard fabric that has a 4-way stretch, such as swim fabrics with, spandex, lycra and/or nylon
-Thread
-5½” of Fold-Over-Elastic or 5½” of ¼” elastic for back of swimsuit
-11” of ¼” Elastic (5½” per leg)
-½”- ⅜” Swimsuit/Lingerie hook or a snap closure
-Sewing machine needle for stretch fabrics
-Needle for hand sewing (snap application only)
Sarong Wrap:
