This pattern offers basic tunic style tops in two lengths with three necklines to choose from. AND it’s reversible! So when you make ONE, you get TWO. Whether you choose the mod square, classic scoop, or sweetheart neckline, your doll is gonna love it! And when Summer comes around, she can even wear the longer tunic as a fun little mini dress!
Back closure instructions are given for using hook and loop tape, but snaps could be used if desired.
This design pairs perfectly with the Prima Bells princess seamed pants.
This PDF sewing pattern by dKinley designs is designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl®.
Recommended Fabrics: lightweight wovens such as lawn, quilters cotton, shirting. For best results, use the same type of fabric for both layers of the reversible top.
Supplies Needed:
MAIN FABRIC:
- SHORT LENGTH, ALL VIEWS: One fat quarter (18” X 22”) OR 1/4 yd 45” wide
- LONG LENGTH, ALL VIEWS: One fat quarter (18” X 22”) OR 1/3 yd 45” wide
SECONDARY FABRIC for reverse side:
- SHORT LENGTH, ALL VIEWS: One fat quarter (18” X 22”) OR 1/4 yd 45” wide
- LONG LENGTH, ALL VIEWS: One fat quarter (18” X 22”) OR 1/3 yd 45” wide
- Hook and loop tape for 6” or 7” opening: (I used ¾” wide double sided hook and loop tape, cut in half lengthwise to create two 3/8” wide strips).
- Optional - snaps may be used for back closure, if preferred
- Thread to match.
- Standard sewing and pressing tools.
- Helpful items include a bodkin or large safety pin, pressing ham or sleeve roll, and pinking shears.
