Too big, wrong sized pieces

I experienced exactly the same thing as another reviewer who described the dress as being too big and shapeless on her doll. Also, just like her, I found that the collar piece was way too long and had to cut it down by at least 3/4 of an inch. Again, just like her, I have been very happy with patterns by this designer so I was surprised at this one. I think the design is very cute and it has a lot of potential, but I think it needs a bit of tweaking.

Doesn't Fit; Too Big

I'm giving three stars (instead of one) because I've sewn with other patterns by this designer, and I was extremely happy. Before this dress, I'd made something that was challenging so I opted for something "easy." I'm an experienced sewer; I'm as meticulous as I can be. I was careful not to stretch the fabric. First, the collar didn't fit right. I shaved a bit off the ends, and it was still too long to fit between the dots on the neckline. And even if it fits between the dots, it is designed to overlap in the back.??? I'd added interfacing to the collar, so I did not stretch it. I got all the seams done and the top lined, and I tried the dress on the doll before adding the Velcro and the hem. The dress is virtually shapeless, a big bag on my dolls. I can't figure out what went wrong. These other reviews are very positive. Either I did something wrong, or they aren't as picky about the fit?
