Your 18 inch doll will be sure to make a statement as she strolls down the red carpet for the Starlight Gala in this designer gown. The hi-low hemline cascades gently towards the back revealing a fun punch of color with the beautiful contrasting lining. The scooping neckline and fitted bodice flatter her shape nicely. The dramatic effect of the delicate lace appliqué creates that final touch of elegance! The dress is fully lined and closes with an invisible zipper closure.
The pattern includes two design variations. View A includes 3/4 length sleeves, is self-lined, and accented with a hand applied lace appliqué. View B includes a sleeveless bodice with added sheer beaded overlay and is lined in a contrasting fabric.
Suggested fabrics include: silk dupioni, silk shantung, taffeta, and lightweight satin. It is important to use a fabric that drapes well so the skirt will fold over onto itself from front to back length. You may wish to line the skirt out of the same fashion fabric or choose a contrast for a different look. The bodice and skirt can be self-lined or lined with any poly or rayon lining.

Optional design suggestion: To create a fuller tulle/mesh underskirt, simply combine the skirt front and back pattern pieces, place on a fold and cut multiple layers of tulle or stretch mesh in a full circle (no CB opening needed). Sew an exposed elastic waistband to the waistline (FOE works great for this). The underskirt will slip on and off easily under the dress.

- 1/2 yd fashion fabric (36-45" width) 3/4 yd if self-lined
- 1/2 yd lining fabric (can be self lined in fashion fabric, see note above)
- One 7" invisible zipper (longer zipper can be trimmed)
- Matching thread
- Optional embellished lace fabric to create an overlay or appliqué design
- Optional tulle for underlay of sleeves
- Iron and pressing tools
- Hand sewing needle
