The Liberty Jane® Tokyo Libby: Ginza Girl Coat is designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl®. As your doll strolls the street shopping, she is sure to turn heads in this beautiful coat and cape. This design features a fit and flare silhouette with a lace ruffled bustle inset. The sleeves have lace and ribbon trim with tiny bows to accent the cuffs. A velveteen or contrast collar is the perfect touch for this special coat. Both the coat and cape are fully lined. The Cape is fully removable and features a contrast border.
This pattern features many couture details and sewing techniques - our favorite is the all in one coat and lining construction. It's shown in both the step by step photos as well as in the Sewing With Cinnamon Video - Ginza Girl Coat. Follow along as each and every step is shown in more detail!
Suggested fabrics include: lightweight worsted wool or wool blends, gabardine, suiting fabrics. We used a velveteen for our contrast fabric however a satin or
wool would also work nicely. The lining can be made from your favorite rayon or poly lining fabrics. The lace trim is ungathered trim and can be anywhere in width from 1” to 1 1/2”. Beautiful silk ribbons, if you can find them, work nicely on this coat as they fall gracefully down the front.
Supplies Needed:
-1/3 yd fashion fabric (54-58" width)
-1/2 yd lining fabric (44-45" width)
-1/4 yd contrast fabric such as velveteen (for collar and cape border)
-1 1/3 yd of 1" to 1-1/2" wide lace trim
-3/4 yd of 1/4" wide satin or silk ribbon
-1/2 yd of 3/8" wide velveteen ribbon
-6 inch piece of 1/2" wide satin or silk ribbon
-6 1/4" buttons (shank work best)
-Matching thread
