Nothing says winter more than stranded colorwork Scandinavian mittens and a hat. This pattern, by Flossie Potter, can be made with 2 or 3 colors.
Both the mittens and hat are knitted flat and stitched together at the side edge. The i-cord bind off on the hat becomes narrow ties for knotting under the doll's chin.
This 24-page PDF knitting pattern is appropriate for the intermediate knitter because it is made up of knit and purl stitches. The few extra techniques are described with color photos, and there are full-color charts for those who prefer them.
