Easily recognizable by its vertical and horizontal striped design elements, this doll-size version is a replica of the iconic summer wear, which was introduced to the US from Baja California in the 1970s. Off-the-shoulder sleeves, side slits, and fringe keep the Baja popular today at bonfires on the beach or campfires in the mountains.

The California Baja will fit most 18" dolls by making the minor sleeve-length adjustments given in the directions.
Recommended Fabrics: Striped fabrics such as: woven fabric, Homespun, or a dish towel (18" x 27")
Supplies Needed: -1/2 yd STRIPED light-weight woven fabric such as Homespun or a dish towel (18" x 27")
-Iron-on interfacing (6" x 10")
-8" of double fold bias tape (1/4" wide), cut into two 4" pieces
-5 1/2"
hook and loop tape (or buttons or snaps)
-Fray-stopping liquid
*NOTE: A serger is helpful when working with woven fabric, but fray-stopping liquid can be used if one is unavailable.
