1920s Lapel Collar Dress 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

3 reviews   |

This sweet little 1920s era dress, designed by Keepers Dolly Duds, features lapel collars accentuated with a square bodice inset at the front neckline.  The short sleeves are self-lined for a neat finish.  The 1920s style dropped waist is lightly gathered to add a hint of fullness over the gently flared skirting that is accentuated with a delicate pleat on each side.  The dress opens all the way down in the back for easy dressing and fastens with five buttons.  Snaps or hook-and-loop tape can be used instead of buttons, if preferred.  Added embellishments include lace edging along the collar and inset, decorative buttons that hold the lapel collar in place, and ribbon bows at the top of each skirting pleat.

This PDF sewing pattern, by Keepers Dolly Duds, is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.

    Another KDD winner!

Loved the finished project. It is a little tricky to do the insert between the collar pieces but the rest of the garment was pretty easy. If there is one slight negative it is the pictures illustrating the bodice insert. There isn’t enough contrast between the main fabric and the insert fabric so kind of hard to visualize what was going on. Fortunately I was able to figure it out from the instructions and will know for next time.

    Awesome pattern

I had fun sewing this dress. I love the 1920’s style that I could sew for Claudie. The instructions were good. I only wish the pictures were more sharp when I zoomed in on them on my iPad.

    Love Historical 20s!

There simply aren’t enough patterns for this era. It’s great to have a new KDD 1920s pattern. Love all the special features, including, a dropped waist with a lightly gathered bodice, skirting with side pleats, & a dress back that fully opens. The trickiest part of construction was the lapel collar, while the rest of the dress was pretty straight forward. It’s totally doable when you follow the well written directions & photos.

    1920s Lapped Collar Dress

Yet another winner from Keepers Dolly Duds. Same high standards in fit of garment and clarity of instructions. Once you are through with the precision sewing of the collar it is a fairly easy sew. Surprise element on how the sleeves are formed. The buttons holding the lapped collar in place were an excellent opportunity to try "embroidery" in my 4 hole buttons.
